@Th3solution @render I'm hoping they are saving it to tie in with an announcement of a certain game they have been rumoured to be working on. I don't get the impression that they have shown any indication on wanting to make their own games.

And I'm ok with that, but I'm not one that lusts over original or innovative games either, just good games. Yeah those are important but not the be all and end all when it comes to video games for me.

@Th3solution @JohnnyShoulder @render yeah, while I love me some new ip... there are still a load of back catalogue ps1 and ps2 titles that I would love a PS5 remake of.

@velio84 the predominant rumour is Metal Gear Solid, though I have also heard rumour of a remake of Metal Gear & Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake and also Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver.

@colonelkilgore @Th3solution @JohnnyShoulder There's loads of great games that I missed on PS1 and 2. Even though I was into gaming back then I spent far too much time playing stuff like GTA when I had those systems. Also didn't own a PS3 so there's definitely many games I didn't experience. All the MGS games for a start so any of those would be perfect.

@render yeah, very similar with my situation. I just used play a very narrow selection of games and as a result I missed out on a load.

Apart from the games mentioned (all of which I'd love a remake of) everything I've heard about Vagrants Story is incredibly positive, so I'd love a remake if that too.

I need to get back to this game. As a huge fan of the soulsbornekiro (we're calling it that) games, I had to earn the platinum in this. I have the platinum, as well as an insane amount of hours on the PS3 version. I only just have the platinum for the PS5 version...I guess I just have an itch to run-through it again. Anyone have any build ideas?

render

@Vertpin I'm new to the whole souls thing since picking up DeS about a month ago. Loving the experience so far but I'm as far from an expert as you can get. Have you platinumed all the souls games?

render

Vertpin

@render Technically no? It's hard to say.

Demon's Souls PS3 - Platinum
Dark Souls PS3 - Platinum
Dark Souls 2 - no Platinum
Bloodborne - Platinum
Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin - Platinum
Dark Souls 3 - Platinum
Dark Souls: Remastered - Platinum
Sekiro - Platinum
Demon's Souls PS5 - Platinum

One of these days, I'll get to the PS3 version of Dark Souls 2.

@Vertpin That's some pretty good platinums to have though. Congrats!! If I get even one of those I'll be quite happy.

Vertpin

@render thanks! The easiest platinum out of those games is probably Bloodborne.

I've taken down the Maiden Astraea, Adjudicator and Penetrator in the last couple of sessions. With the Penetrator I did end up getting help from that NPC to get the job done as I'd stumbled on the prison he was being held in and just thought why not. He made it almost too easy tbh and I'm kind of wishing that I hadn't done it now, but it was an additional trophy so I consoled myself with that.

I started putting some souls into dexterity and it's made my bow a load more useful and I found a new bow the end of yesterday but can't equip it yet as I haven't got the stats. I'm a long way off so it's quite disappointing that I won't be able to use it but guess that might be something for NG+.

I'm really impressed with how big the levels end up being as well. Each boss you beat makes you think that must be it for this one but there's always one more boss and more of the level after that.

Yeah the size... and just sheer level-design was so impressive at the time (2009). Good to know they're still impressing new players 12 years later. I remember World one in particular blew me away once I made it out into the open in 1-2.

@render Hate to say I told you so, but that would be twice in one post!

@JohnnyShoulder Ha ha yep you did say so and I did regret it and you were right about the bow too

I polished off the rest of the game this weekend. Managed to do the last three bosses, Old King Allant, Old Hero and Storm king, in one session after getting stuck for a bit on Old Hero. That was a bit of a pain as there was no shortcut and I lost count of how many times I got caught by those spirit like dudes with the long arms.

Really enjoyed those boss fights and the end of the game, though it definitely wasn’t what I was expecting.

Going to plough on with a NG+ now after doing some reading.

@JohnnyShoulder @JechtUltima Cheers 😀

I think I got lucky and managed to avoid the soul draining but sounds like it would be really annoying if it did happen. That was probably the boss I most enjoyed out of that last lot, where it actually felt like there were a good number of different attacks in there to keep you on your toes. Bet you I get soul drained on my NG+ encounter now!

render

JohnnyShoulder

@render Yeah Allant is more typical of a boss fight that you find in the rest of the series. Don't recall being soul drained on too many occasions to cause me many issues, but by then I might have been a bit OP.

bumping this conversation.....

O..M..G!! This game is nuts! I was not a fan of these games mostly because of how hard they looked.
I ended up picking this up for 30CAD yesterday and DAMN! I gotta say this game is addictive. I absolutely LOVE! the castle and the dragon throwing flames... man it feels like I'm right there with my surround sound when it comes down and blasts the tower pathways... Jesus hats off BluePoint because this game looks and plays AMAZINGLY!

I'm not very good at it and managed to kill Phalanx (iirc) ... moved along to the second boss and LOL! got whooped though I wasn't ready, but man I'm so glad I attempted this....I'll be posting around here for help lol.

Can't wait for Elden Ring now!

@rumple1980 The first boss is pretty easy (sorry!), but when (not if!) you beat the second one, which is no joke, you'll have the skills you need to build on to finish the game (and probably any other souls games tbh).
