@Snatcher for all the concrete info the fextralife wiki is the place to go. For where to go next specifically, there is a game progress route page for each FromSoft game there….here is elden ring’s. The wiki is missing lots still because its early, but this is easily the most complete resource.
Just made it back to the Chapel of Anticipation - not where I expected it to be, or rather, it's in a place I was wondering how you'd get to, and I didn't expect it to be the location where you start the game!
So…Carian Study Hall. My stubborn side reared it’s ugly head but I’ve now come to grips with reality and won’t be beating my head against that wall again for quite some time 😂

@velio84 I was level 47! 😂 I think my Uchigatana is +6.
I'm not so hot on the castle as others on here. It was well designed and everything, but i much prefer being out in the open world and am itching to get back out.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

@kyleforrester87 did you go through any of the other portals? I used the one to the crumbling ruins, I think it was called - didn't even think there would be anything in that part of the map
@kyleforrester87 did you already have one when you got there? Only asking as only three of them are portals, the top one is actually a treasure chest with another of those items (I already had one going in so managed to do 2)
@kyleforrester87 yeah me too - the brass shield has been my go-to so far, as it's the first one I came across that blocked 100% physical damage, but this one has replaced it too. I watched a video that said that greatshields are much better for blocking (I mean, that much is obvious - but specifically it's much more likely that an enemy's attack will "bounce" off the shield and create a window to attack/counter in)
I think I’ve been making hard work of this. I’m about 10 hours in now and at level 29 I finally beat good old Maggie. I’m two handing a +2 Uchigatana and using unsheathe every opportunity I get. It took me a while to realise that if I spammed it too quickly the Uchi wasn’t being sheathed in order to unsheathe so I was missing out on plenty of opportunities to stagger. Throwing this question out there though… would it be better to get a half decent shield and use no skill on it or carry on two handing it and rolling? I’m doing ok with rolling but getting screwed over in places where my timing isn’t perfect.
@render hope this isn’t a lame answer, but the best thing to do is experiment. Try it out! Personally, I couldn’t play without a shield. Sometimes there’s just too many attacks to roll through. Also, the guard counter is extremely valuable. Don’t forget, you can also still two-hand with a shield. Push triangle + R1. Just know that your equip load will be be affected.

@JohnnyShoulder@velio84 I just beat him yesterday. I summoned some help though, but I definitely held my own. I was a bit over leveled but still a tough fight. Now I have to figure out and find how to get to where the second bell is to get my uchi to level 10.
@Mega-Gazz I'm leaning towards dex arcane build and sticking with uchi the whole way lol. I only used the mace when needed in certain caves. I see all these awesome weapons, but I can't seem.to let go of the unsheathe ash
Doesn't help that right at the very top, there's a couple of messages saying "hidden path ahead: try bow" (this is on steam, not sure if some joker has done it on PSN as well) - with a "point upwards" emote pointing to the upside down tower with what looks like a pressure plate on it
Took me quite a few tries (and a bit of googling) before I resigned to the fact that my arrows weren't going to trigger that pressure plate
@nessisonett definitely figured out the hard way that it was pointless. From what you’re saying, there’s an item to acquire to get through there? I’ll keep an eye out!

@render Hey mate, I'm also using the Uchi and leaning/investing heavily into DEX... I would HIGHLY recommend that you go and pick up the "No Skill" AoW (Warmaster Shack merchant I think, in Limgrave). As you point out, this then allows you to use the Uchi weapon art whilst 1-handing - giving you capacity to block. Of course 'Unsheathe' is slightly less powerful when used 1-handed, but honestly I felt the trade-off was worth it to have protection from the shield (especially with huge mobs). I also felt the parry window was pretty small, and I war rarely/never attempting to use this Art (which is default on some/most shields?) so made sense to change out to "no skill" anyway.
Nothing to stop you two-handing when the situation calls for it! But then at least you have the option to use unsheathe still while using shield.
Have you discovered the AoW 'Bloody Slash' yet? I never thought I'd step away from Unsheathe, but I havent gone back since I picked up BS!!
Hi All, just beat Renalla last night... incredible fight, albeit I did need to summon someone to support me on this as she was levelling me to bits in final phase ha.
I am very conscious of not exploring too much so far, and would really like to do a few optional/side dungeons and bosses.
Aside from Castle Mourne (which I took on prior to Stormveil) I've not really tackled any other areas.
Any bosses and/or dungeons that have some nice DEX/Samurai loot would be a plus! But really just want to see some cool stuff before I progress further on the 'main' bosses. Loving this game, and want to drink in as much as possible...
