@nessisonett Ah. Thanks. If it's something I'm likely to find on my own I'll check back later. I appreciate you putting in the spoiler bars. While we're here any tips for the fire giant? I keep getting nuked by his AoE because the camera won't rotate quickly enough!
For anyone who might care in the slightest.... I FINALLY beat Radahn.
This is why I love FromSoft so much, as this battle tested me and pushed me to my limit. I know some people have cake-walked him, but for me he has been the biggest hurdle of this game so far... by a country mile.
In the end, I swapped out Bloody Slash AoW - - > Hoarfrost Stomp - mainly as this was allowing more distance between him and I + the damage is quite solid.
But honestly, I think the key to winning here is being really strategic in when/how to use the summons team. I was initially trying to get the fight over with ASAP, but then realised it actually pays to drag it out. Ideally, when you get to end phase1... you want to be in a position where you can re-summon just ahead of phase2 starting. Then you have an army with 'fresh health' to draw away the agro whilst you pick the punishment windows accordingly.
I also had to play with equipment/build and weapons/AoW. It really was remarkably satisfying, not felt this elation since Returnal!!
@CJD87 Well done mate, sounds like an epic battle. It's strangely satisfying going through lots of combinations of equipment / items to find something that works for that particular battle. That's what I really liked about Hollow Knight as there was always a combo that worked for one thing but not so well on another.
I parked it at the Red Wolf of Radagon last night having had a few goes and got to about 1/3 of it's health left. I'm going to be working on that later as it feels like I had to work really hard to get to that point but I also feel like I'm not far off being able to do it. I might have to forget about the dual wield for this one and deploy a shield as those ranged attacks are proving quite hard to dodge.
@LN78 My tip is try over and over while swearing repeatedly. Not a highlight of the game for sure. Just summon for the aggro, hit and run the legs and hope you don’t get killed in one hit by the bloody fire AOE.
@LN78 One thing I’ll say about the map to the left of the snowy area, the associated quest starts all the way back in Liurnia. If you haven’t come across it yet, you might not now.
@LN78 You know, I think that you can technically get there without the quest line but that points you to the required items to access the area. You’d be dealing with guesswork or lots of exploring otherwise.
@CJD87
Nice! Good to hear. I really enjoyed it. First attempts my daughter was watching and cheering or shouting at me because he was just behind me as I failed narrowly because I wasn’t sure what to do.
When I came back to it in the evening it all went like a piece of cake for some reason. haha
The crowd, accepting this immediately, assumed the anti-Eurasian posters and banners everywhere were the result of acts of sabotage by agents of Goldstein and ripped them from the walls.
@CJD87 Nice work! Aside from the horrible tag-team battle in Redmane Castle, it was until the final few bosses that I started really struggling. The final boss is one of the most annoying I've ever fought.
@LN78 Fire Giant's second phase is way easier if you resolve to just chip damage him to death by attacking his backside. Maintain enough distance to avoid the rolling. Stay on the horse any time you're not actively attacking.
@LN78@Ralizah Cheers guys. Just beat him - as I said before it's the first time in almost seventy hours that I've been turning the air blue - without a doubt my least favourite encounter so far.
@render - I am not really anyone who should be providing advice on Boss Battles... but I 100% agree that the Red Wolf battle is time to put down dual wielding, and instead crack out the shield!
I used a fairly low-stat shield (heater?) but it had 100% physical guard, which did me fine here. Good luck man!
@JJ2 Thanks mate... and well done for beating him with spectators (your daughter). I fear that my own daughter watching me would have just invoked severe performance anxiety! @Ralizah Thank you, any and all encouragement is appreciated ha!
Went through Siofra River today, really liked that area… maybe as much as Stormveil. Then done a bit of Caelid… not so much of a fan of this locale but I haven’t entered the legacy dungeon there yet so hopefully it’ll be awesome and elevate the location.
This was a game I was curious about but didn't think I'd really get into, I tried Bloodborne and Demon's Souls previously and bounced off them pretty quickly. Yet here I am about 40 hours in and loving every minute (well most of them 😂), I've finished off Redmane Castle and now just beat Rennala too, some of the locations you explore are so well done and I can't wait to see more
Older than I care to remember but have been gaming since owning a wooden Atari 2600 and played pretty much everything inbetween.
Siofra River was boring. Gigantic, but you constantly had to be vigilant between the electric things chasing you and minotaurs sniping you across the map. Hated the flame pillar sidequest.
Stormveil, Raya Lucaria Academy, and Leyndell were the highlights of the game, IMO.
Caelid in general represented a massive drop off in quality in terms of the level design and density of content.
@nessisonett Got the first half of the medallion and then ran headlong into Commander Niall and his pair of hench summon knights. Got my clock well and truly cleaned and noped out for the evening. Thanks for your help today - with any luck I'll be able to fill in the rest of the map and maybe finish out the game by the weekend.
