@LN78 that's like, 6 times the length of the current fastest speed run though..

@danlk1ng It's actually quite short for one his critiques. His "Witcher 3" video went on for 2 or 3 days.

@velio84 this video might be useful just for pointers in terms of strategy (or if you're like me your reaction might be "welp, guess I'm just bad at Elden Ring" )

This is an easy way to defeat the villains in the game I was struggling for more than 3 hrs!

It's nice to have finally finished the game, can finally get up to speed with what the speedrunners are doing.

Just today the record speedrun has gone from 14mins 8 seconds this morning to 12 mins 32 seconds this afternoon!

And in all honesty the speedruns barely even spoil anything now, the only boss they even really fight is Maliketh - you'd have no idea at all what's actually going on in the game if you watch one

Have had a busy night - I'm now precisely one achievement (I'm playing on Steam, so they're not called trophies ) from the "all achievements" achievement (platinum sounds better). And that achievement is....
Margit the Fell Omen!!!
Obviously I beat him a while ago, but this has been a gaping hole in my achievements for a while. I managed to beat him when the servers were down so I had to play offline, and it turns out there was a bug at the time (with ER specifically I think) where if you earned a trophy offline it never synced in Steam

Beat Malenia on NG+, then switched to HFW and fought the snake boss in the first area and it’s not a fair comparison but just saying the difference in forgiveness is hilarious. I mean, sure the snake is basically a tutorial boss but ER’s tutorial boss kills you

Oh man…I’ve got quite a few different threads on the go at the moment. Rode a coffin to the Deeproot Depths after finally defeating the Gargoyles which I’ll explore later, have yet to defeat Astel, Natural Born of the Void for Ranni (whose quest has taken a while to come together for me as the doll wouldn’t talk to me for the longest time), the red guy in Roundtable Hold all of a sudden wants me to find his corporeal body in some sewers, still have to climb The Divine Tower of Caelid, have two more assassinations for the folks at Volcano Manor in areas I haven’t explored, and more…phew… There is so much to piece together in this game but I’m getting there. 105 hours in, level 80, just working my way up Mount Gelmir. Called it quits last night at Hermit Village. Hoping to finally explore Leyndell within the next few days.

@Ralizah yes, it’s there now. I still have to beat it though. I’ll probably try it again soon here now that I’ve acquired the mimic tear spirit ash, which is awesome!

As for me, after beating Rannala I went and started exploring Caelid.

There are some pretty tough standard enemies in that area! I slowly edged my way round and took a few goes to take down the dragon mini boss in the south of that area. Wandered around the swamp and ended up giving up on the mini boss in that region.

Then off to Redmane Castle which was fairly tough but took down the duo boss with a summon (which made it quite easy to take on the big knight fella). Kind of disappointing that there wasn't much else there though after all of that.

So then back to Caelid and met Gowry en route to Selia. Back to the swamp and cheesed the mini boss with poison arrows. Cleared Selia no problem and have been exploring around the area for the moment.

@Thrillho I think I’m in the minority but I quite like Caelid… It seems to be worth delivering the repaired item to the girl Gowry mentions, as I’ve now run into her at various locations since. And as @velio84 mentioned, you’ll be back to Redmane! Needless to say, I’ve yet to find a visible area that can’t eventually be explored…

@Jimmer-jammer I’m with you mate… while I initially hated Caelid, by the end of my run I really appreciated how unique it was.

@colonelkilgore Totally! There’s such a feeling of history to the area, with chaos and violence still playing out over the scattered remnants of an ancient war, like reverberating echoes of sins long past yet unforgiven, never to be forgotten. The alarmingly deep red skies are luring and entrancing, distracting to the rot seeping up from the surface. I also think it was a brilliant decision to allow the player access to what is, for all intents and purposes, a late game area, from the start. It gives the player an early window into what I think some of the themes of the game are: chaos requires order, yet from within order, insidiously and in secret, a new chaos will erupt when it can no longer be contained, and a new order must be installed and so on. I don’t know, still have a LOT to piece together, but these are some of the vibes I’m picking up.

Edit: I should add, the “insidious…new” chaos that comes from within order that I’m referring to here is a power struggle. It’s the dark side of order… I do find it curious that the entity instilled by The Greater Will are The Two Fingers, which in a (colloquial) way represent peace, but only represent part of a hand, completed by Three Fingers, representing chaos…ahh so much to unpack yet! I’ll save my ramblings for now haha

During the ad breaks in the F1 coverage they played a commercial for Elden Ring. Even had the cool theme music. I thought that looks awesome, I want to play that 😆

Gelmir Hero’s Grave is pretty hardcore! What a rush, though I’m glad to be done with it. Some great loot in there too.

I lost the river blood katana because I killed the fire giant without knowing the existence of it. I'm looking for someone who hasn't got it yet to go in game with it get it

@velio84 Do you know if going to someone else gameplay works for loot? I haven't tried yet, but I want to make sure the person will also receive the katana. Otherwise I'll have to wait until NG+

@velio84 @Jimmer-jammer Yeah, I’ve heard of the festival but thought there might be more in the castle after such a fight to get through it! And yes, I spoke to Jerren there too.

I’ve cleared most of Caelid and Dragonborrow now. There are just a couple of caves I’ve missed when I look at online maps. I’m just surprised there wasn’t a main boss in that area (yet) but some good mini bosses, particularly the multiple dragon ones. And they are pretty generous with their rune drops!

I left the guy outside of the Beast Sanctum well alone though (particularly as I already got the shortcut to get inside).

Thrillho

Jimmer-jammer

@Thrillho that’s some impressive progress there! You’ll most likely sail through Limgrave and Stormveil if you haven’t already. I’ve just begun Leyndall myself and things have ratcheted up again.

I cleared Siofra River over the weekend and made a start on Altus Plateau. In two minds whether to carry on or do more in Caelid, which I dipped into earlier. Totally forgot you can get there just by following the path north-west of Limgrave! 😂 Think I went to go there way earlier but turned round when I saw where it was heading.
