@velio84 well with everyone calling her ‘saviour’ and a 40 foot statue erected in her honour… it would be easy to let the ego run away with itself. I can get a bit entitled if when I eat supper, that i manage to avoid getting food down my shirt.
Yeeeeah so I played for a couple more hours and I’ve done like 4 side quests, found 4 items I have no idea what their purpose is (“I guess I’ll figure it out later”, says Aloy) and haven’t progressed the story one bit lol.
I love it
@velio84 Have to say I was a bit taken aback when she basically told Varl to shave off his beard. Apart from the fact he looks miles better as that’s subjective, the way she said it felt extremely cold. The delivery was a bit weird.
@nessisonett@velio84 honestly I thought Aloy was a bit bland in Zero Dawn so while I might love her for this, at least that’s some personality - so I see that as an improvement (I’m still at the very beginning though so we’ll see)
Hi there fellow gamers.
Cool to see so many enjoying the game.
Only played the game for six hours today, had to the Gym (cause it´s Gym day) and man, the game is great. Loved the new theme song for the game and have done nothing but exploring the small region, fighting some mean machines(and getting bodied, I´m still quite rusty), doing some side quests and playing Machine Strike...... It´s The Witcher 3 Gwent all over again......
I might just have way more hours in this game than I thought I would.
Money well spent 👍
Cheers, stay safe ya´ll and happy gaming to us all

@nessisonett@Voltan@velio84 I think her personality has definitely moved on in a good way. Only played for a few hours again so advancing slowly but in that time I’ve seen her crack a smile more times than she ever did in ZD. Yeah she’s more arrogant but I think I can live with that.
It’s so easy to go off piste and do side quests, foraging, machine hunting etc. I start doing one thing and then end up doing something completely different. I’m finding it all really familiar but at the same time there’s a lot of new things like the skill tree that are taking some time to get used to.
I also gave performance mode a go and it’s massively smoother but if you switch back to resolution mode and give it a few minutes then you don’t notice for long and the res really shines.
Hahahahaha please tell me it wasn’t just me who had the insane pop-in throughout the opening credits? It’s like a PS1 game, mountains appearing out of nowhere and stuff. Bizarre for a cutscene as important as the opening credits to have such obvious issues.
@nessisonett Opening credits were fine for me and haven’t noticed any pop in so far. Had a few clipping issues but that’s about it.
Is everyone else using a headset? I’ve been using the TV speakers but with 3D sound enabled and it’s been good. I get the odd conversation where all of a sudden there’s some echo but it seems to depend on which way the camera is facing.
@nessisonett@render yeah I’m sure that I had no pop-in during the credits either… haven’t experienced ‘that much’ noticeable pop-in during play either that I recall. The only thing I keep noticing is, there’s a strange faint ‘extra’ outline to Aloy’s face during close-ups in cut-scenes.
Early impressions; The prologue part is way too long. Not a big fan of having NPCs follow me around. It also felt that the prologue was ripped straight out of Zero Dawn. The acting and characters were very stilted. The free-roam climbing wasn't present. In general a lot of minor visual glitches. Wasn't a good first impression. Once you get to the actual map it gets better.
@ApostateMage I already have a glitch where the inventory says I have a new item, but I've checked them all, and that little yellow exclamation mark is going to drive me nuts.
I’m the opposite to everyone, I think the game actually shone in the opening hour, the more linear gameplay with Varl following you about. Easily the most fun I’ve had between both games. I’d prefer a whole game of linear levels with a pared down open world.
I'ma play the sh*t out of Machine Strike, I know it.
Yeah, I haven’t had a go at that yet… I remember getting majorly side-tracked by Gwent in The Witcher 3, so I’m sure that the same thing’ll happen here when I eventually try it.
@Voltan@colonelkilgore I’ve played a few games and it looks like it’s going to be good fun when you get a few more pieces. The terrain thing will add an extra dimension to it. I don’t think I’ve found the best way to play yet but I’ve won a few games so hopefully I’ll work it out.
9 and a half hours in and I've only just cleared a path to the Embassy. Loving it so far hopefully more gaming time later tonight to see what the merchants of chainscrape have to offer!
