@JohnnyShoulder it really depends on the game(s). I got my PS4 Summer 2015, I was going to wait another six months to a year (backlog of PS3 games, also waiting for the right bundle deal to come along etc) but I HAD to play Arkham Knight so I caved in.
Really hoping that the first year releases are awful, haha.
@BowTiesAreCool I might wait 6 months or so they can iron all the kinks out. My main grumble with my ps4 is how loud it can get, but then my dad's which is a later base model is almost silent. I imagine with the PS5 having a SSD this will no longer be an issue.

@Frigate Yeah I agree. I know some people begrudge spending a substantial amount on tech, I was the same when I had less disposable income. But these days I don't mind spending a bit more to get some thing of a higher quality. If I think how many hours I play on my ps4 (roughly 20 - 25 hours in a normal working week), I don't mind paying more for a PS5. I would be very surprised it comes under 500 quid.

@JohnnyShoulder actually I can live without the microphone. But everything I have heard so far like the wireless VR, no loading, 4k standard, 4k Blu Ray player, power of the cpu etc. Its gonna be great. We are all big gamers here so this is the first time since the Gamecube I'm getting a console day 1. Let's go!!!
@themcnoisy I moved our discussion here, cos you know you were spamming the PS4 section. Apart from the wireless VR (which is only a patent so there’s no guarantee that it will be turned into a final product, even if the idea of a new headset does seem inevitable.)we pretty much knew all of that anyway. Did you not pay any attention to the earlier announcement, or have you been playing Dreams for that long?
@philip_austin Realistically it will most likely be at least that price but with no games. With games costing 60 quid on release this gen and the tech in the consoles, I think it is unrealistic to expect it cost much less or for a few games to be thrown in.

$499 for the physical version or no sale. I don't want the digital version because I want to actually own my games and anything more than $499 is too expensive to be worth it. If it ends up being more than that, I'm probably going to wait a year or two and see if I can get it on a Black Friday sale or something.
My limit is $600 but im confident the console will be around $499. That said if the console ends up being $600 I'll have to wait 1 or 2 years for the cheaper Slim version.
I'd be happy with 500, seems like the right amount. I know people are saying that the specs would make it higher than that because of the equivalency with a gaming PC, but it's not a gaming PC at all. The fact that it is a console with locked in features means it should be cheaper than a PC.
I won't buy it on release this time as I did with the PS4. The first model I had was so temperamental, with its crazy screaming fan and spitting out discs randomly. Couple of years down the line I upgraded to the Pro and it was much better, but I did feel a bit annoyed about spending so much money on release for the headaches it gave me.
@Arugula I wouldn't pay much attention to these leaks we are seeing from retailers. I've seen anything from 399 to 699. One of them maybe right, but that will be down to just luck and coincidence, not to them knowing any inside information.

If it's £500 then that seems reasonable. Obviously it would be ace if it was less. But inflation etc.
£600 would be pushing it but I'd still buy it. Any more and I'd have to question my life choices. Especially as I'll be buying two of them so my girlfriend doesn't get jel.
I think £500 is likely for the disc version - that is what I am planning for with my tiny savings. I do think the digital one will be a fair bit cheaper because a digital edition locks a user into the Playstation store and they will make so much more money off that customer in the long run.
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
