Hello. I need your advice on whether to buy a new PS5 this year, many of my friends say that there will be exclusive games for it not earlier than in a year. I now have a PS4 pro, I just bought it recently. I read here https://complockers.co.uk/news/price-for-playstation-5-games-... that the prices for the new curling iron will be much higher. The question is, if some PS5 exclusive comes out, will it work on PS4 or shouldn't it be expected from the developers? It's just that the prices of games on my PS4 are much cheaper.
@Digriz87 If you want to play PS5 exclusives you will need a PS5. They won’t work on the PS4. The PS5 exclusive coming out this year is Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. If you want to play that game you will need a PS5 if you don’t you won’t and can wait until something you want to play comes out.
I think personal situations and preferences are much more important than whether or not the should buy a next gen console sooner or later - even if the majority of releases are available on their current gaming set-up.
Whilst games like Spider-Man, Horizon, Cyberpunk, Assassins Creed etc will also be releasing on current gen, that doesn't mean that people should wait. Some games will be upgraded but you may lose your game progress on PS5 when you upgrade so may not want to start playing on PS4 - not saying you will in ALL cases. Whether you would be happy having to start again, lose all that progress after spending 20+ hrs in game before you upgraded to PS5. Some games may require you also to purchase the 'right' version to get an upgrade as well. Some games will be next gen only - Ratchet and Clank, Godfall, Demon Souls - so you may want to consider those too.
Even if all games are on PS4, the PS5 is going to be a 'better' place to play those games on. Not just visually better either. You could play games at double the frame rate for a smoother and more responsive experience. A game running at 60fps has a lower input lag than if it was running at 30fps because the game is updating 60x every second. Games should load much faster too and the new controller adds Haptic Feedback as well to add another layer to the experience. Overall, the hardware alone will enhance the experience of playing the game - not just enhance how it looks.
As I said at the start - I think its a very personal choice and will very much depend on that person's preferences, game libraries, financial situation etc - as well as availability of the PS5 as that choice maybe too late now to make. You may have to wait until later until you can actually find stock available to buy. There is a right and wrong to this, its what best suits the individual.
A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!
Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
My dad is actually going to get me a PS5 for the holiday season as a gift for graduating and making honors in Grade 12, so I guess I'm just getting one this year regardless lmao
@Octane I have zero chance of getting a PS5 in Sweden. Went in to the shop I pre-ordered at months and months ago. Was 27 on the list for the Standard Edition. They're getting 5 at launch and apparently expect 10 more before Christmas. I'll be lucky to get one by March at this rate. Meanwhile the USA is getting another batch released to them. The way Sony treats smaller EU countries is really crappy. The EU is by far their biggest market, especially where games attach rate is concerned, it's why Microsoft is taking the EU market so seriously this time around, but Sony continues to treat the EU like the ugly step child.
