@Th3solution I didn't have that much of an issue with the drones, especially compared to what I've seen online. My issue with biome 3 was a bit different. I think with the drones, as long as you keep a bit of a distance and you've got a good weapon you're fine. They go down in a couple of hits.
@Th3solution You’ve definitely found your form. Hopefully you won’t find the drones too bad. My memory of them first time round was that they were just complete g*ts, but since going back many times they don’t really appear so bad as long as you keep them in sight and keep strafing.
@adrianthealchemist Have you worked it out yet? Is there something that’s looks like a diving board in there? Might give you a clue 😉
@adrianthealchemist Thanks for the tip. Yes, I tried one daily challenge and I ran out of time and just quit out of it halfway, and still ended up 85/400 at the time, as far as my score. If I had the time to continue I might have cracked top 50, who knows. But I didn’t get any rewards since I didn’t finish. The weapon given to me was a leveled up Dreadbound, which I quite liked. Despite a strange reload cadence, it was devastatingly brutal against those B1 enemies. Alas, I had to log off to go to an appointment so I abandoned the challenge run.
Speaking of weapons, the next weapon in the game was unlocked for me - I think it was the thermogenic launcher, and I didn’t care for it very much. You don’t get many shots, it’s slow to fire and so if you miss, you’re screwed for a few seconds without any offense for a while. Not a fan of it so far.
@render Yeah, the game comes a little easier the more hours you put into it. I’m not a very skilled gamer, despite my many thousands and thousands of hours playing video games. But there is a certain level of competence that comes with repetition.
@MightyDemon82@adrianthealchemist The worse thing about that fabricator room is that feeling of knowing that you can’t come back when you jump into the abyss 😬
@Th3solution The dreadbound can be deadly for both the hostiles and you. It relies on the shards it shoots returning to you before you can fire them again. That means the closer something is the quicker the shards can return and it can just destroy stuff. For further away things though the shards take a while to get back so you get that buttock clenching moment where you pull the trigger and nothing happens 😂
Thermogenic launcher is only really good if it’s got the full auto trait on it as then it will rattle through the cassette of rockets and then you’ve got a chance of hitting something.
@Th3solution As with all the weapons, it starts off quite weak in some aspects. It is only when you start unlocking traits and the better alt fire mods, it shows its real potential off.
I wasn't that keen on the grotland gobber (or whatever is called), but is one of my go to weapons. Along with Hollowseeker and Electropylon Driver. And there are certain alt fire modes I flat out refuse to use, proximity mine. I've still not worked out how to use that effectively lol.
@render Yeah full auto with that is pretty devastating.
That is awesome news about HMQ now being part of the playstation family. Hopefully this means some DLC for Returnal and some great new innovative games ahead 👍
Had my eye on this topic every now & again and just wanted to say congrats @Th3solution on beating the first and second bosses!
Good to see you're enjoying yourself immensely with it now after that slight initial frustration you were having in getting to grips with it! Here's to you beating it in due time!
Can't wait to try it myself in 2023 or whenever I get my hands on that big bulky behemoth of a console ha ha 😄

@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy Thanks, Foxy! I am a far distance from full completion, but I’m feeling more confident that I’ll be able to.
I hope you are able to get yourself a PS5 soon, it’s been a joy to have, but honestly you (and anyone else still without one) can feel confident in the fact that outside of Returnal and Astrobot, you’re not missing a whole lot. Well, and Ratchet and Demon’s Souls, but I haven’t played those yet either. I love it for the utility improvements, but otherwise I’d have plenty of happy gaming with the ole’ PS4.
But yes, as a patient and skilled gamer who has bested many FromSoft games, you’ll likely get along well with Returnal. And it’ll probably be a fraction of the price by next year. I am indeed thoroughly enjoying the game and can’t stop thinking about it while I’m at work. 😄
Adding to what @Th3solution says, it depends on how much you put into some of the benefits from playing PS4 games on PS5 @Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy. To me, having faster load times, an almost silent console, boosts to 4K and 60fps (in some cases) have made a great deal of difference to my gaming. Plus when games make use of the DualSense, it really does 'feel' next gen too. I came from a peasant PS4 though, so your experience may differ if you have a Pro.
Good news about the acquisition. Makes perfect sense to me seeing how closely they have worked together previously.
Made some good progress in B5, only need 1 more cypher and Scout log. Think I had about 4 or 5 of each to get, so I've got most of them in one run. Which did start yesterday mind and I continued earlier. Still no sign of the sun fragment though. 😑 Might look up to see where it is.
Congrats to Mrs @render on the plat! I will most likely go for it myself, seeing as I've already sunk enough hours in.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
