@velio84 Interesting. It wasn’t too long ago we were discussion Simmons and the Hyperion series over on the book thread, I believe it was @LordSteev and @Thrillho involved. Looks like the developers are fans of the books too!

@Th3solution It was indeed; it's on my bedside table as my next read so good to hear another recommendation from @velio84 and even more intrigued by this game now too!
IGN India, based on some tweet in Portuguese (yeah, weird source) claims that Returnal runs at 4K/60 and features some form of ray tracing at the same time.
@Voltan I’ll be thrilled if there’s some ray tracing included.
I was wondering if there was a way to enable and disable RT depending on the in-game situation, and I wonder if that’s what this is. Perhaps it’s 60fps the majority of the time during combat and exploration, but it implements ray tracing during story scenes like when you’re walking through the house in first person mode.

@jdv95 I don't think we'll know that until the reviews are in. And even then, given the structure of the game, it will probably vary a lot, depending on how you play it
According to some other tweets I've seen, we might be getting some fist impressions and gameplay videos as soon as tomorrow morning (or even tonight if you're in America). I'm kinda excited.
@JohnnyShoulder Well, I ended up with a bunch of scholarly articles that quickly went over my head and I lost interest. I need the simple 6th grade reader level explanation. 😅

"There's been understandable concern recently about Sony's reported obsession with blockbusters that are too big to fail - the God of Wars, the Horizon: Zero Dawns and the god-forbid-it's-real The Last of Us remake - so it's quite remarkable how Returnal has arrived within mere weeks of the story like some kind of rebuttal. This is one of the most daring, dazzling and straight-up different big ticket games to come from Sony since Death Stranding." - Eurogamer
Damn this is looking good. I've been playing a bit of Resogun and quite enjoying that so if it's anything like that in quality then it's going to be good. It looks challenging but I bet once you get into the mechanics then things will get easier.
this seems to be going for some good to great review scores if the impressions are any indication. (mid 80's for a new IP)
if so then i guess sony won't wait to long to accuire the studio (if they have not already done so in secret). as i'm convinced they are waiting to see the sale and review results of returnal to make that dicision.
@jdv95 They seem to have been working closely with PlayStation for years, so that would probably make sense for both parties. Curious to see if it happens.
@hypnotoad Lmaoo you're not alone. Luckily though I don't think it'll disappoint, quite the contrary actually. Returnal seems to be setting itself up to exceed everyone's expectations.
