@themcnoisy to be fair I understand that quote is specifically related to stories in the media, not their own messaging, of course it is all linked but as we’ve seen in America you can apparently get away with going full Trump against the media and the people seem to love you just as much!
I am not saying the messaging is correct, the reason I mentioned it is to give an explanation (right or wrong) as to why maybe they did not tackle it sooner.
I'm going to try and avoid any more politics as there are never any proper answers, just grey areas, moral and immoral choices with people effected either side and blatant lies for the most part.
I'm more excited that I can drop back into Primark from the 15th and buy some £5 shorts for the holidays. Its not even being covered!

@themcnoisy although I come across as an opinionated c**t I am in reality very undecided on most political issues and more often than not like to go against the grain/be a contrarian just to see what comes of it 👍🏻
@kyleforrester87 Generally through life you start off fairly Liberal and work your way to Conservative. It makes sense due to the rules and your own investments in your lifetime.
The neo / alt conservatives are a different breed though. Doesn't work the same and it's borderline chaos at all turns. More interested in keeping donors happy rather than the electorate, It's arguably more dangerous for private investment than voting Labour at this point.

@themcnoisy I'm the other way round - I started off more conservative in my youth and am well on my way to starting a commune, marrying everyone and eating only organic turnips. When I start posting threads on here about making my own pickes, feel free to come round and give me a proper decking.
@kyleforrester87 Whether I like him or not, the man is ridiculously clever and I think he has changed politics completely. For better or worse, probably down to opinion (as a Turnip eater, I say worse). As said, I don't think he should resign or anything, just admit breaking lockdown and move on. The absolute twaddle that has been spouted by members of our actual government to pretend he didn't is vom inducing amd more damaging than just a quick, sorry I'll pay the fine.
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
On the subject of Cummings and his legendary journey, someone has created a mini game in Dreams to um, show their approval?
It's a good way to be noticed as a creator and hopefully Cummings will get a chance to play this and let us know if it's an accurate representation of the events that took place.
Personally I think Dominic Cummings should resign. The part that bothers me the most is the reason he used for driving to the castle. Supposedly he was having issues with his vision, so he wanted to test that he felt safe to drive, before driving to London.
If someone is unsure whether their eyesight is good enough to drive, then they shouldn't drive until they are confident that they can drive safely. Not only does it put them at risk, but it also endangers their passengers and other people on the road.
That combined with him breaking the lockdown rules whilst people were being urged to stay at home is reason enough to want him gone.
I dunno, if you’re trying to judge if you are ready to take a long drive somewhere it’s conceivable that you give it a trial run first. And when you go for a drive you need a destination, it’s conceivable that he could have found himself at one of many beauty spots.
I think without any evidence of harm being caused you can largely chalk it up to stupidity and move on. Anyone using it as an excuse to ignore social distancing themselves needs a bit of a slap. More important things to focus on now IMO.
The laughable thing is the British media is almost entirely right wing and will happily print outright lies and stoke xenophobia and racism, all of which is extremely beneficial to their Tory pals in government. Get rid of that and they would have a much, much harder time.
And no, I just cannot feel sorry for the twit. His breaking of the law in this instance (and yes, he committed an offence) isn't actually what pisses me off. It's his gutter politics, his absolute contempt for our legislative and judicial institutions (let's not forget the constitutional crisis he instigated last year), his racism and the fact that he's an absolute t***. He has cultivated a political culture that is repugnant. Attacks on judges, journalists, MPs, even Bishops. It's all fair game for the alt-right. The man is unelected and is not held to proper account. Let's bear in mind that in days of yore Secretaries of State would have had enough integrity to offer their resignations for considerably less than Dom's infraction.
Weather he loses his job or not It’s a matter for the Prime Minister. Whether he loses his driving license for driving when medically unfit it’s a matter for the police. As he’s basically confessed I think he should be stripped of it.
@Ryall I can think of an instance where I’d hurt my foot (it was actually an arthritis issue if I remember correctly, I had a lot of problems like that at one point), and I remember going for a drive after it had gotten better to see how it felt before committing to a longer journey (I used to travel quite a bit in and out of London on the motorway for work). That seemed like the most sensible thing to do at the time.. I dunno, you could spin it I guess but it did make sense when I did it.
@Ryall not that I recall, but obviously if something doesn’t feel right after 15-20 minutes you can apply common sense and assume it’s probably going to feel worse/much worse after 4-5 hours, at which point you are in a better position to make a judgement, I think.
If he’d just apologised, it would have been unfortunate but people would have moved on. Unfortunately, the Tories have already used breaking lockdown as an excuse to get rid of several enemies. For the cabinet to say there’s nothing wrong with what he did and that we’re the ones at fault for being outraged, that’s inexcusable. It’s an affront to all those NHS nurses that haven’t seen their kids in months to keep them safe, or the ones that have already died. He flouted the rules and then used his position to get away with it, simple as that.
The initial wave of the antibody tests is 95% in and we have a rough idea that 6.78% of the population have had coronavirus. That's with the deaths posted as almost 38,000 - in reality the over average deaths stated by the ONS is just under 60,000. Crikey.
That's roughly 1 in 75 people who contract coronavirus, die of it. That's flipping mad.

Just had my antibody test results and have the coronavirus antibodies. This was only performed as I was having bloods taken for a B12 deficiency brought on by an ongoing fight with graves desease and I've had some weird medical issues. It's good news, thought I contracted it in Disneyland and have been proven correct. Fortunately when I was recovering I had 3-4 days off and was well when I returned to work (prior to the initial March guidance) hopefully only passing it to my immediate family once back in the UK.
My wife now thinks she was the person who took it into her job and is feeling guilty. Most of her co workers got covid-19 and had to isolate. I've told her it's not her fault but she was pretty upset earlier.

@themcnoisy not necessarily Disney Land, you could have had no symptoms or had it very mildly (funny as I have felt a bit off once or twice during lock down, you never know!)
@themcnoisy I'm really interested to see if we have had it as we all had very mild symptoms after coming into contact with some people who had but so mild I don't think we did.
Your wife though shouldn't feel bad. If the advice that was available at the time was followed by you guys, you could do nothing wrong. Back in the early days you had to have a cough and high temp AND have been in contact with someone from an infected region. Hopefully though this should give you guys some immunity as we reopen the country.

Just read an interesting article about how Dominic Cummings wife got her job for the spectator by writing about her road trip across Texas. Have we thought about his wife driving rather than him? Man is an a#$e and should go, the excuses are so poor I almost feel like we are being trolled.
@R1spam Dominic Cummings was so 3 days ago man, come on. Ventilators is the hot topic right now. Or England coming out of lock down 2 weeks earlier than Scotland. Or is it testing. I forget.
