@nessisonett Yeah, there must be a hard mode as there's a related trophy. According to a loading screen tip, when you complete the game you get chapter select, like in Uncharted, so I wonder if you can switch to hard mode then and redo chapters as endgame characters.
@jdv95 You get a materia called Assess (Scan, basically) pretty early. Once you've scanned an enemy, it remembers all the details in a log in the menu. You can also press the touchpad in battle to bring it up while pausing battle.
@Matroska Honestly, the battle system sounds more well-thought-out. Classic FF combat sucks. You can mash the X button through the majority of the game and be fine. They gave it a significant tactical element here, which is really nice.
Thanks for the reply. It might kick my butt, but I'm really looking forward to mastering this title. Since this is a minimum of two playthroughs in order to achieve the Platinum, though, it might take me a while to accomplish.

@KratosMD Don't they do what Amazon do where you get the lowest price it's been since you pre-ordered? So like if it was £50 when you pre-order, drops to £40, then goes up to £50 before launch, you get it for £40. Because it sounds pretty scammy if they can just pump up the price on pre-orders.
I wouldn't pre-order from anywhere that didn't give me the game for the price I pre-ordered it at.
My game will be a few days late due to shipping delays. I normally go digital on everything, but I got a good deal on the Deluxe Edition and, frankly, I just really want a physical copy of this game.

I love this game but man does it have weird difficult spikes. You can be in an area where enemies melt on your sword in seconds, but there's a quest in the same place where Aeris gets killed 5 seconds into battle. I died to those guys more times than I've died to almost any boss in Dark Souls 1-3 and Bloodborne, seriously. (Though to be fair, I usually die 0-2 times to Soulsborne bosses so that makes it sound worse than it is - though Ludwig got me like 45 times, hopefully we don't get to that in FFVII...)
Reno was easy and then not all that long later Rude kicked my ass so badly I was shouting "what was I supposed to do!? 🤬" at my TV as if I was doing an AVGN impression. Which, to be honest, was kind of fun.
@jdv95 What I'm really hoping is that you can use the Chapter Select function you unlock when you complete it to go back and do the game on Hard with your endgame party. You can change difficulty at any time (apparently, I haven't done it myself) so maybe you unlock Hard and Chapter Select at the same time, change to Hard and then go back.
Only catch is if it de-levels you to appropriate levels when you go back. Kinda cheapens the trophy, yeah, but I think starting a fresh Hard playthrough would kill me.
@Matroska I feel ya, Ludwig had me beat for about 6 months. FF games traditionally have ‘harder’ sections if you aren’t sufficiently levelled since there’s a bigger focus on maths rather than sheer skill.
So for those that have their copies already, is the game worth £60? From what I’ve heard, it’s not overly long and I have to say my hype is rock bottom so I’m honestly not sure if I should wait for a sale or at least for physical stock to get back in stores. Perhaps I’d get more from MLB 20 given all this free time due to lockdown.
