Soooo.... Is the season pass worth it?

Happy Xmas Final Fantasy fans. To celebrate I'm fishing with Noctis and finishing the last dungeon, spent 2 hours yesterday going up and in walls and beating on red giants and medusas. Prompto and ignis glitched out of the fight. What a way to spend Xmas eve. Just Gladio and Noct being served humble pie. Pretty epic but my wife didn't quite understand the magnitude of my plight, having to wrap presents and stuff like that. Anyway now my kids are out of the way and my birds drank enough babycham to knock out Pete Doherty its game on!

I've promised myself I'm not setting up my pro until ff15 is done so I have a big motivator!

I think I might have sold some XV copies today cause my nephews wanted to see the game and it seems they liked it a lot...

Sale ends tonight/tomorrow morning so hoping for some insight into this

@Mega-Gazz: @KratosMD: Agreed, although some of the items @JaxonH: Mentioned do seem useful I've wasted hundreds of thousands selling treasure items on vanilla ff15 which could be useful in the dlc. But yeah I would wait.

So castle Comark (I've got the name wrong but its the hard dungeon) is done, what a challenge. I cycled through the maze 8 times! The walkthroughs online are terrible, I thought my game had broke as apparently there's a rng element to the way the barriers open up too. But I finished it eventually. What's really weird is the fighting against the medusa snake and fire knights are so hard the last boss was a walk in the park and took me about 2 minutes from start to finish, felt like an anticlimax.

2 trophies to go! Fishing (currently lvl 9) and Adamantoise (my party is lvl 74) so I'm guessing 2 and a half hours to the platinize the game.

@themcnoisy: yeah that dungeon was hard but worth it, i levelled up about 10 times from that

So that's the platinum done. The Adamantoise battle took longer than even I envisaged. To be fair I went in blind with my strategy and I would highly recommend some things to save everyone else the time but I will comment them if anyone's ever interested in the fight. Anyone who's beat the boss probably knows a better strategy but the fights so glitchy and the collision detection and targeting so wayward its harder than it should be to find the optimum tactics. After an hour and a half I basically stopped going for its head, the most dps is achieved there but you end up flying around in the air like some crazy fool. I knew I had to eat prior to the battle and ate a behemoth steak which was a great choice, unfortunately the buffs wore off once my tactics started to become established. Other than that knowing what I know now I could redo it in less than an hour at my level, where as the fight took me over 2.5 hours. Good luck anyone trying out for that trophy.

What's next?
The next game in the series for me will be finishing ffx on the vita. When I cant say but ff15 has put that game well and truly in the shade. FFX became a chore long ago, ff15 was anything but bar that last battle to platinum the game. My new top 3 final fantasies are now FF8, FF15 and FF7 (I need to play ff4 throughout and ff9 to completion) FF8 sneaks it due to nostalgia and my knowledge on the game, FF7 is amazing - but a touch long in the tooth. If only FF15 had an epic intro like FF7, it didn't though and the introduction was really bad. The supposed scary section unlocking gates was pathetic too, reminiscent of the jail sequence in ff8. The battle system also really struggled in close confines and the targeting system was unreliable, I chose to use the Wait system from the beginning - but at times that was a hurdle rather than a help, recuperating from a warp the game would go into wait mode so you would have to drop out of the restorative position to basically unpause the game. Throw in the uncohesive mid-end story and gaping chasms of missed information and there are too many points pulling FF15 from greatness, which FF7 most definitely was to every RPG fan at release and FF8 was to someone like me who likes breaking systems and playing around with stats. With a heavy heart Im not buying the season pass as its time to move onto my pro with a fresh slate of hdd, but that's a tougher decision than I thought possible a month ago.

@KratosMD: Awesome collection! You mentioned the collection only took a month; how many of these have you gotten to play so far? Of all of those, I'd recommend XIII-2 the most (mostly due to being a more modern game.)

I lost all of my older titles in a flood, so my collection only starts at XIII I do have digital copies of all of them on a few Vita cards though

@KratosMD: I highly recommend playing 1-10 and 13 before playing World of Final Fantasy! As for XIII-2, it's a fantastic standalone, but I'd still say to finish XIII first since the story of XIII-2 spoils XIII. You're in for a lot of great games though! Don't burn yourself out

Ugh, I was gonna watch Kingsglaive before starting the game, but apparently you can't rent it.... And by all accounts its a terrible movie on its own, so purchasing it just as an intro to the game seems like a 20$ cash grab.

@Mega-Gazz: It's not too bad at all actually, quite enjoyed it. And I rented it off Amazon via the PS4 app.

Found it for free at http://kissanime.ru/Anime/Kingsglaive-Final-Fantasy-XV/Movie?..., and just watched it. I liked it. Very Final Fantasy with the mix of technology and magic. Really good job of introducing the world, which in the end is all I was expecting it to do.

I can see how someone who isn't a FF fan could get lost, though, or find it wonky. The mix of present tech, future tech, and historical settings is as I said very FF, but may be confusing to others I guess. Also since the movie really doesn't end so much as lead to a beginning, as a standalone movie I can see the complaint... but I mean it has FFXV in the title, it was always billed as an intro or companion to the game.

Anyhow, definitely liked it, especially for free

Edit: My wife has used this site before, and not had problems - and a google search seemed to indicate ads being the only issue.... I know I was suspicious at "free"

Where the hell are the level 3 key spheres in ffx? I'm using the international levelling board and 3 of my characters are at dead ends. I've got a bunch of level 1,2 and 4 key spheres but no 3s so annoying!

All help will be appreciated.

@themcnoisy: You need to be at Inside Sin, Zanarkand or Omega Ruins to fight monsters that will drop them, as I recall.

@johncalmc: How come I have level 4 key spheres? That's weird. Cheers John - I'm currently attempting trials at the very top of gagazet. I've just had to fit Wakka, Rikku and Tidus into 3 holes. Gaming doesn't get any better than that :/
