Aside from wanting to make that pun for a long time, I'm curious as to how large the community is here. I've been here for quite a few years now and have seen many articles come and go with rather a large number of commentators being more than a bit bigoted so it would be nice to see them be a vocal minority. Come one and all, share your stories, make yourselves known - everybody's welcome! Personally, I've seen a lot of positivity in games recently, with The Outer Worlds beating BioWare at their own game by a mile. Fingers crossed that an eventual Horizon 2 would have more representation, you'd think by that point in the future, humanity would see the robots as more of a threat than who you sh*g!
@Tasuki I agree that it could go badly but it’s important that there’s a space where LGBT+ gamers feel they can discuss games without fear of backlash from others. Even on principle, I believe that just having a thread where gamers can discuss themes, stories or whatever, helps normalise the idea of gamers being a wider community than what some would have you believe. There’s a whole lot of hate going around especially here in Push Square so it’s important to make a stand rather than let it slide.
@nessisonett I fail to see how that's important. Why label people we are all gamers plain and simple. The other bit doesn't matter when it comes to gaming.

@Tasuki I dunno, I hear a lot from people I know about how off-putting gaming is because their impression of it is from hearing 12 year olds scream slurs while playing COD. It can only be a good thing to encourage more people to play and create games regardless of background. Gaming still brings up strong connotations of basement-dwelling bigots for a lot of people despite the steps forward in recent years. Labels are stupid but so is pretending we’re like everyone else when our whole lives we’ve been made to feel differently.
@LN78 Honestly, it’s none of the regulars who’re spouting rubbish, it’s just the ones who seem to come out the woodwork on certain threads. I’m sure @Tasuki remembers that Cyberpunk article a few months back having been a moderator. That’s genuinely the worst I’ve seen it but I do think it’s getting worse, same as on NLife. Sign of the times though, innit?
@nessisonett That thread was too tempting for me not to comment. I think this thread is fab and if one is allowed, then another should be too.
I said it in the other thread but the gaming community is so diverse and can cater to so many different needs and tastes that it really is quite unique. I think it is why gaming continues to grow year on year. If politics shouldn’t be in games (which is ridiculous since all media is based on the politics of the times) then everyone should be welcome and in a safe space.
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
To be honest I’ve never really understood homosexuality. I was taught that sex is the process by which a women get pregnant. But it sounds like a lot of people having a lot of fun.
I oppose censorship in all its forms and when someone wants to put that kind of content into a game it should certainly be allowed.
@nessisonett The problem is you bring attention to it like you are the worst it's going to get before it gets better. Hatred and Bigotry will never go away sad to say it's as much as a part of life as many other things.

@nessisonett personally i don't believe there is such a thing as Straight or LGBT, we are just animals and they are just labels we have either given ourselves or given others and it's just another way we seem to segregate ourselves as a species, you love who you love, nothing else matters at the end of the day
on a side note, you should have gone with "for the GAYMERS" for the thread title

For all their faults, Bioware are way ahead in this respect (although I've not played The Outer Worlds yet). Just one of the reasons why it's a shame to see them chasing the dollar with stuff like Anthem instead of pushing on with their narrative-driven games.
Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.
@Gremio108 Honesly, for like 2007, Mass Effect handled it pretty well. Your options were a whole lot better for FemShep though, for BroShep you got, uh, cardboard dude and Kaiden. Provided you didn’t nuke Kaiden like I usually do.
@nessisonett Being a total fool and never actually having played a Mass Effect game, I can only base my opinion on Dragon Age. Dorian was a bit of a legend in Inquisition.

@Gremio108 Well I must be a fool too since I’ve played the Mass Effect Trilogy countless times but haven’t touched a Dragon Age game. Seems we should be playing both!
@nessisonett@Gremio108 i'll be honest i never found any of the romance options in any of the Mass Effect games interesting so i never bothered romancing anyone
