@colonelkilgore haha 😂 sorry.

Yeah I did, cheers for that. Good to keep contact. It's weird ya know, some people feel like stalwarts on the forum. You just never think they'll leave

P.s. black, no sugar 😆

See ya!

@ralphdibny ah good, I wasn’t sure as he didn’t get back to me on it. Yeah I hate seeing people ‘unplug’, particularly regulars… but if it’s what they need to do at the time, it is what it is sadly. It’s easy to get into little disagreements with people when using text as the primary form of communication… hell I get into disagreements when face-to-face on the reg 🤣 but I try not to let it change my life in anyway (if I can help it).

Anyways, here you go ☕️

@colonelkilgore thanks slurps

Yeah, it's hard to read intonation. It's what emojis are for but I do find them a bit hard to use sometimes, especially the wink lol. I almost never use the wink. I feel like the wink used to mean something verrrrry different.

But yeah, I completely understand why people need to leave. I've been absent myself at times, without deleting my account, just because I needed to.

See ya!

If people post and comment within the acceptable rules of the website and moderation is fair, there should be no need for a block button. Personally I think it's always good in life to hear other people's opinions even if they don't conform to your own views - you don't have to agree, but also need to understand not everyone thinks the same as you.

@MatthewJP It's not always about opinions, though. Sometimes it's something about a user's attitude and demeanor (also known as personality, I suppose) that winds me up - the block button has been very useful in that regard.

@nessisonett sorry to hear about that. Kyle is a top lad and it's sad to see you blokes fall out.

Nothing 10 pints and a shot of sambuca won't fix of course.

As a general rule, I don't block people, because I'm not comfortable making choices that impact the user experience of others.

The ignore function is a great feature, though, and I'd argue should be present in any community online, even if everyone is sticking to TOS. Sometimes people just don't like each-other, and seeing their posts will make one less likely to want to return to the community in the future. While, in general, I believe in people talking and resolving their differences rationally, sometimes people aren't worth talking to, or their values are so different from your own that productive discussion is impossible. In cases like those, ignoring and moving on is a good way to nip potentially drawn out conflicts in the bud.

@Ralizah What's the difference between blocking and ignoring? I'm using the "ignore" function in a few instances but I sometimes call it "blocking". I wasn't aware they were two separate things.

LN78

Ralizah

@LN78 Ignoring just prevents you from seeing a user's post. They're no more the wiser.

Blocking does this, PLUS prevents them from seeing your posts, which can end up being disruptive to their user experience. And, obviously, they'll know they're on your block list eventually, which can generate anxiety, frustration, and anger.

I do think blocking has a place, but only in extreme circumstances. Whereas ignoring hurts literally nobody.

@Ralizah I see. Thanks for the clarification.

@Ralizah so I can see the option to ‘ignore’ when I tap on a post but I’ve never actually seen the option to ‘block’. So how does one actually block someone… I’m asking for a friend 😉 (whom I intend to block 😎)?

@LN78 it’s already rotating at an increasingly quickening rate of notts in sheer expectation! 🤢🤮

@colonelkilgore Oh my goodness. I foresee a Push Square blockdemic. Nobody will be talking to anybody else.

@LN78 @colonelkilgore Once you ignore someone, go into your account and click on "Ignored Users." From there, you can either choose to block them, or remove them from your ignore list (I actually clear out my ignore list every once in a while, to give the users on it another chance).

@LN78 mate you’re about 12 months too late, block-gate happened in Jan 2022… and was a personal high-point of my time on Push Square (as far as popcorn-munching entertainment content goes 😎).
