@kyleforrester87: Its deep though, this maybe a spoiler as its the actual start of the story. ***spoiler*** the hero of the story is an angry "small" emotional clever individual who when attempting to bring his dead mother back to life using alchemy kills his brother and loses his arm and leg doing a deal with the gate master in the after life to put his brothers soul into a now living suit of armour. This wasn't shown until the second episode. But its as epic as it sounds.

@themcnoisy: oh yeah the first episode of Brotherhood is a bit of a weird one, I think they were trying to start with a bang to get people hooked, but it can be confusing as it makes no effort to explain what's going on. After that though, the whole thing becomes much more cohesive, always maintaining just enough exposition so that you understand what is happening in the moment, whilst keeping a real sense of mystery about the bigger picture. Also prepare for it to get pretty dark, pretty fast!

I have been trying to get more into anime lately, mostly because I love Persona 4 G and even got the anime of Persona 4....and well, that just make me want some more.
I have been trying some eps of Death Note, but didn't really grab me yet....
One Piece looks more promising, definitly going to watch more of that.
There is a LOT of anime out there...kinda hard to pick one to watch lol.
@BlaBlaBla: Ghost in the shell, Akira and now.... Full Metal Alchemist I'm a convert. 4 episodes in and tonight I'm watching another 2.
I'm in a similar position, watched alot of anime 1993(ish) - 2001 but nothing since then really. If you read through the thread jaz and Steve have got good knowledge.

I use to watch alot of anime in the mid 90's early 2000s before anime was the "cool" thing. Most of my favorite one are really unheard off by people due to the fact that it's not mainstream series. Some of my favorites include
Fushigi Yuugi (My absolute favorite after all its where I get my screen nane from)
Ruroni Kenshin
Case Closed
DN Angel
Full Metal Panic
Ranma 1/2

Full Metal Alchemist has seemingly gone into a lull, ive smashed 10 episodes and the last couple of episodes have fleshed out the history of ishval but I already knew that from the scar episode pretty much. Still good but the episode with Al being a bit of a weirdo was actually the worst episode in the series for me. He just moped around completely out of character.
Bought episodes 14-27 they have been dispatched.

@themcnoisy: I loved it, but it won't be to everyone's tastes (I find mecha shows can be quite divisive). If you like giant robots smacking each other about though, it's definitely worth watching, and it has one of my favorite final confrontations just due to the sheer insanity of it. But yeah, I would happily recommend it, and from what I gather it was pretty widely acclaimed when it first released. From what I remember it managed to strike a really good balance between humor and action as well, which can be quite hard to do.

Also (because the articles today have served to jog my memory), Attack on Titan is absolutely worth watching (although the DVDs might still be a bit pricey, and Netflix probably would be a better option there). One of the better shows I've seen in recent years, and left on a juicy cliffhanger with a second series due to come out next year. The production quality is top notch, with an absolutely fantastic soundtrack and some fantastically choreographed action.

I just watched the first 7 episodes of Attack on Titan in a row. It's amazing. I can't wait to watch more. I'd definitally would recommend. Only shame is I couldn't watch the dub without buying something since it's not on Netflix.
@Jaz007: the only bad thing I have to say about AoT is that it ends on a major cliffhanger and has left me desperate for more!

I just finished the first season of Attack on Titan. Man it was good. Almost perfect. The cliffhanger was definitely there, and I want to know more, but it wasn't as big as I expected. I felt fairly satisfied with its conclusion. A few scenes definitely had flaws though. So does anyone know when season 2 comes out? I think information about that just dropped, but I don't want to see the spoilers mixed in with it. I think I'll wait though for it all to come out as I won't be able to stand waiting each week.
@Jaz007: Still no actual date yet, just that it is going to be 2016. Wouldn't hold your breath for seeing it on Netflix until 2017 though :/
