I will always love the Pokemon series, and arguably the 2 listed are the most influential. But where those 2 games have been influential, I'd argue the other 3 in that set were all absolutely groundbreaking achievements of game development.

Also shame I missed the FF group stage. It's saddening to see 6 knocked out, as I think that (with it's sheer amount of optional content and freedom of player choice near the end, not to mention THAT twist) it was easily as important to the genre as 7, and definitely stands as one of the best. If I'd had to drop one, it probably would have been X. It's a grand game, and one of several that got me into gaming, but personally I felt that the levelling system, story, locations, and optional content were all done better in each of 6 through 9! Maybe I'm just a sucker for an overworld map haha.

@SteveButler2010 the final fantasy games are gonna be in another group together very soon. Thanks for your reply on Seymour flux the guy just cut me down.

I have to give 5 to OOT since it's the only one I played and I'm not sure which are considered the best out of the rest. I'll give 1 for KOTOR and 1 for...ME2?

Disappointed to see RDR lose out as I think its such a great open world game and still looks brilliant even against the generation 8 games. I guess I am not surprised to see 2 Naughty Dog games get through. Uncharted series is my favourite franchise on any platform and uncharted 2 is probably the best of these. Although I struggled with the Last of Us in terms of Story and attachment to the characters, I can't deny its technically brilliant too and a great showcase of ND's talents.

Damn - what a very tough group..... I have played all and thoroughly enjoyed all too. The first Mass Effect was brilliant but did have a few flaws, corrected for 2 but lost 'something' and 3 was brilliant right up to that 'ending' - personally I think these 3 really should be considered as 1 game - It just happened to release in 3 parts....
Knights of the Old Republic was a fantastic RPG and set in the Star Wars universe. Ocarina of Time is a magically brilliant Zelda game that really stands the test of time...

I agree with @BAMozzy it's a shame to see RDR knocked out, as I think it's probably still my favorite actual game world I've seen in an open world recently (although I've not yet played the Witcher 3). However, in terms of overall quality I do feel the 2 winners of the group were the rightful choices, even if only just. @themcnoisy are there plans for an honorable mentions round after the main event, taking the top runners up and re-voting on them?

As for this group, it's a tough call for me between ME2 & 3, but I'm going to let the ending fiasco from 3 sway me here. Never played 1, and I'm yet to finish KOTOR, so they will be sitting this one out for me.

@SteveButler2210: We ran that earlier in the cup to stop good games getting a tough draw and going out straight away. So they had 2 battles before going out unfortunately now a games out - its out. When there's 16 games left its a straight knockout.

@themcnoisy: But surely the games being knocked out now have all received more points than the ones that ran in that earlier round, to have them make it to this stage? So shouldn't the ones being knocked out now be the ones to get runners up status or whatever as they scored more?

To be honest it doesn't really make a difference, as we know they're all great anyway, just seems odd to me is all!

But the ones getting knocked out now, obviously will have less points allocated than the 8 games that get knocked out next and then the 4 and then the 2 and the 'runner up' will be the one that loses the final

The round before was like the qualifiers in a football tournament - this is the group stages. You don't get a runners up for losing in the group stages

@SteveButler2210: Exactly what @BAMozzy said. If you read back from the first page its like a proper tournament, you got your preliminaries, then group stages, then the final groups (which we are In now) and then the knockouts. We will be running it every year so will give you a shout at the start of May next year to put your own top games in, but thanks for joining in cough streets of rage for the win cough
