Into Ch.11 now. I had my second crash in the big room with the 3 fire carts in a circle that you have to push around to get to the bridge. The game just froze right before I was about to complete the last step of the puzzle. It only put me back a few minutes, but was still annoying nonetheless. Has anyone else had any crashes or freezes and had to exit and reboot the game?
Small technical hiccups aside, the game continues to please and just put a smile on my face. As I mentioned before, this series feels like Naughty Dog-lite and is so refreshing since we haven’t had a new IP from Naughty Dog for so long and this really scratches that itch. The last couple chapters have felt quite Uncharted / Tomb Raider inspired with the puzzle rooms and crypts. Highly recommend the series for fans of ND
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
I didn't experience any crashes in my two playthroughs (well one and 2/3 of another).
I did read people saying they experienced crashes when using the 60fps mode, I only played in 30fps.
Around halfway (?) through Chapter 10, invading a fort with Sophias prism thing. Seems unlikely that I'll manage to complete the game of the month within the month but should be able to get a couple more chapters done tomorrow hopefully.
The last couple of chapters have been more narrative exposition and exploration than combat/puzzles which has been a drop off in pace. I'm guessing it's setting me up for a more challenging second half.
Managed to get all trophies for upgrading everything by saving up 200 pieces and restarting checkpoint. Think I'm around one or two more sneaking encounters away from getting prudence fully upgraded so have begun trying to get more opportunist by wiping out the handful of soldiers who unfortunately stray into my sights.
A random thought occurred as I was playing earlier... Where does Amicia keep all of her stones?
“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”
Apparently in the same place she keeps all of the 3 pots and 20 bottles of alcohol that I have her carrying around. 😅
It is a nice touch that the quiver on her back does show the representative number of bolts that you have in your possession at the time. And not sure if you found the upgraded armlet but it’s shows as a change on her arm when you get it. I also appreciate the attention to detail that when you find a flower or feather that the character wears it for the rest of the chapter.
But the stones… we can only assume she picks them up on the spot. 😄
Think it was opportune that I maxed the Prudence skills during the previous chapter as now some of those baddies are gonna pay. Also really gotten into the story now and the links to an (even more) historical context.
And Sophia, well Sophia is just my favourite. I would probably play her spin-off game were it to exist.
@sorteddan Yeah Sophia was good, as were all the characters but when she said "You can play with the compass but break it and you are going overboard, I'm not joking" I thought I like this person.
Perhaps Ubisoft might have her as a dlc character in Skull n Bones.
I very much understood what I had to do at the end and I very much didn't want to do it. I mean I've spent two whole games trying to look after the kid. Has left me a bit sad but that's ok, it just means I actually connected with the characters and their plight.
I found the last few chapters quite easy to plough through as the game was seemingly happy to funnel me towards the inevitable so it did feel quite linear by this point.
Still I enjoyed it for the most part, like with the first game I felt it gets better the more it goes on, at the start you have little option but stealth and it then starts to open up which improves the gameplay. Also pleased I managed to complete it without lowering the difficulty. I still need to use chapter select for the last secret chest. Then a NG+ to fully upgrade the skill bars so not entirely done with it yet.
@Th3solution I'm only a couple of chapters in and I can see why you've made a comparison to naughty dog games. I'm interested in the setting and it looks incredible but it hasn't grabbed me yet. It's good that it's got a dodge button though! I know there are more powers that are going to come my way so I'm hoping the added dynamics of that pulls me in. I've been in the mood of a naughty dog/tomb raider for a bit so hope this pulls me in with puzzles. It seems like you've really enjoyed the series though, which is cool!
@R1spam I’ve not quite finished Requiem but I will say the puzzles and just the overall general combat/stealth is a lot better in the sequel. The first game was great with the rats and how you have to puzzle out how to avoid/use them, but the second game uses that mechanic and then also some of the more classic Uncharted-style tomb puzzles also. (Levers, gears, chains, opening gates, solving ancient hieroglyphic triggers to open a door, etc, etc.) But at the center of it all is still the novel situation of the rat swarms.
Hoped it clicks for you. The pacing can be off at times, but I’d say this second game is also paced better, in general. The story beats seem to be coming in a more engaging clip this time around.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
Finally finished the game. Like someone said, those final chapter really fly by as the story pick up pace and concludes.
I don’t want to repeat myself too much but I really love this game. There is some legitimate emotional parts and I don’t always get invested emotionally in games. The game only held back by a few minor quibbles in execution and technical. (I had one more crash right at the end, so that makes 3 total during my playthrough. If no one else has had these I guess I need to do a database rebuild and open my PS5 and see if it needs a cleaning)
As for the story and its ending, I felt for a while that the only way this was going to go would be that Hugo has to die to end the plague. So the ending didn’t surprise me, per se, but it was nonetheless emotionally griping, mainly on the back of just a great performance by the Amicia VA. A lot of the sobbing and crying moments were truly heartfelt in her portrayal.
And I was thrilled to see the way it ended did leave an opening for another sequel. They could take a more modern fantasy fictional take with the macula showing up on a new baby in the current day. Or they could make it another historical setting. They could even keep Amicia and Sophia (and Lucas, who was conspicuously absent from the epilogue chapter… where did he go?) as protagonists tracking down the order and the new bearer of the macula. Historically, Bubonic plague kept popping up through the next several hundred years in London, Italy, France, India, China until the bacteria was discovered in the late 1800’s.
A very good morning to you gang! I hope you’re all doing well? Apologies for the delay in an update I’ve been unwell for the last week or so but hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel.
By all accounts, A Plague Tale went down a storm and I couldn’t be happier with the continued engagement so hats off to you all, I really appreciate it 👍
Your next game is Sea of Stars which appears to be being hailed as a modern classic so all very exciting. Here are some details courtesy of HLTB
As always, play the game on your platform of choice and in your own time. Please be wary of spoilers and use tags where appropriate.

As with last month I’ll ask for your suggestions and votes for March right off the bat, and in turn might give more of you chance to log in and make a contribution. Votes were on the lean side last month but seemed to work relatively well regardless.
These are the titles suggested last month for your convenience.
Tren
Teardown
Tinykin
Eiyuden Chronicle Rising
Inscryption
Life is Strange True Colors
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
Spider-Man: Miles Morales
@AgentCooper Thanks for the update, I vote Inscryption for March.
Get well soon and regarding the light in the tunnel, don't go into the light, turn away from it, don't even look at it.
Enjoy Sea of Stars everybody, I've had it downloaded for ages but have yet to start so now is the perfect opportunity.
@AgentCooper If you mean being pinged here then nah - this thread is always near the top of the forum anyway so I'll just drop by whenever something catches my eye
Thanks for the offer though
@AgentCooper Many thanks for the update and keeping the club alive. And fingers crossed you’re recovering fully from what ails you. And here’s hoping that at least being being unwell has afforded you extra gaming time. 😄
I’m not sure if I will be able to participate in Sea of Stars. I am certainly curious about the title and it seems to have been universally praised. Free time will be the determinant rather than interest, so we’ll see. I was actually pleased I had sufficient time in Jan to complete Requiem.
As for March, I would get behind Inscryption as a first choice. Second choice would be True Colors.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
As everyone else has already said hope whatever nasty ailment you have clears up quickly @AgentCooper!
Whilst I won't be participating in game club this month (I tried the demo for SoS and wasn't a fan) I'm definitely putting a vote in for next month with Inscryption!
Maybe we won't have to do our own little thing after all @Th3solution?
