Have to say felt like I was watching episode 4 a lot of the time, the film was good but felt really gimicky as it it was constantly saying "remember this remember that" all the time. I hope they try harder to be more unique with 8 and 9, also want flash backs of Luke when he was rebuilding the order.

Ok so here's my thoughts.

I stand by my original thoughts. It's a good movie but it feels like this is Star Wars the Next Generation. Kinda like Star Trek the Next Generation. I can see in a few years dicussions happening like who's the better Sith, Vader or this new guy whose the better droid R2 or BB kinda like Picard vs Kirk back when Star Trek TNG.

But yeah won't go into spoilers now but it's worth the price of admission and this was a movie for the fans with lots of fanservice but as the a continuation of the Star Wars series it's was subpar.

@Bad-MuthaAdebisi: I don't think the Han solo kid will turn good - Its Lawrence Llewlyn Bowen - there's nothing good about him.

@Tasuki: Your theory is very plausible. I'm sure star wars fans would admit that star trek was struggling until next generation. I'm not a treky and don't enjoy the super serious nature if it all, but I can clearly recall loads of positive news about Pickard and co, especially after the other attempts to bring star trek back and failing. Also if you look at what happened with the off shoots and spin offs since they didn't work as well.

Saw it last night. Definitely enjoyed it but like some others, I can't help shake the feeling that it seemed way too similar to Episode IV in some ways. Really not much in the way of creativity or originality these days. Creed was another movie I enjoyed a lot but was an obvious remake. With this movie it's a remake packaged as a sequel. At least it was still better and more fun to sit through than some of the crap I've seen in recent years.
