Good job Rooney is in his best position, eh? Luckless, clueless, hopeless, World Cup goal less. Get him off. The fact he is going to be England's next captain shows you just what a mess they are in. And knowing Jagielka is *always* made a mug of by Suarez you have to applaud Woy for letting him be done again in front of the world.

That and I'm obviously horribly biased towards all of the Liverpool players...
Think you and I will be enjoying next season in this thread.
I hope so. If we continue how we left off it'll be great. I think even if Suarez leaves the club, we still look very strong.
I don't think he'll go but even if he does we get £100m at the very least.
"Oh smeg. What the smegging smegs he smegging done? He's smegging killed me."
A disappointing first half, certainly not what I was expecting. England needs to pull their finger out or they'll be catching an early flight back home.
To be fair, all it could take is Godin getting sent off, and England could easily break through. But they need something different. I'd take Welbeck off and throw Barkley or Lallana on.
First of all, Luis Suarez is easily the best player in the world. Not even Messi or Ronaldo could have dragged a truly average side into that game and then back into it once more. To do that when you're about 60% fit is just incredible. Stand out performance of the World Cup so far. I wanted you to win to knock him out as if they stay in the competition and he gets fit I don't fancy anyone stopping him.
Anyway, while watching it I wrote all this as I'm bored off my knackers.
Joe Hart - Looked rather dodgy by his standards.
Glen Johnson - Was as awful today as he was great against Italy. I've long criticised him for Liverpool - including once to his face in a pub in Formby and he then scored next game - but who else can England play there? He's getting worse but there's still no-one good enough to replace him. Great determination for the goal (he did all the work) but we all know he can do that.
Phil Jagielka - Suarez always scores against him (like Torres when he was good and Vidic). Shouldn't have played as he constantly panics against the magical Uruguayan.
Gary Cahill - Played okay but always looks vulnerable when his defensive partner is nervous. Was nowhere for either Suarez goal.
Leighton Baines - Contributed nothing defensively or offensively. Dunno what's happened to him in Brazil but he's not the Leighton Baines Everton have.
Steven Gerrard - He simply can't play games so close together. Whenever he did for us this season he looked sluggish. The fact he was offered no help or protection from those ahead of him, including a certain Manchester-based Scouser (singling him out as the media will conveniently overlook all Rooney's faults like every time). Already seen people - mainly Evertonians and United fans - trying to blame him for Suarez's second. Amazing how English fans can't put club loyalty aside for a national team.
Jordan Henderson - Anyone who watches Liverpool sees Henderson does Gerrard's attacking legwork nowadays while assisting now and then with defensive work. His constant determination to run also creates space for Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling which is why we scored so many goals last season. So what does Roy do? Makes him play behind Gerrard. Brilliant. Criticism of Jordan should be all labelled at the manager but, of course, he'll be the scapegoat. Not a surprise to any Liverpool fan that when he pushed forward more once Lallana was on that England got into the game.
Wayne Rooney - Played in his best position and did even less than he did against Italy. This has to be the wakeup call for people to realise he is gone as a force. But the media will use the goal as proof that he should continue when, in reality, Johnson did everything but score that goal. He wouldn't get in any of the big teams. Coincidentally he came in off the left, not through the middle to score. Look at the difference between him and a noway near fit Suarez. Rooney had it, Suarez (who could hardly stay upright in the later stages) has it.
Raheem Sterling - We saw the Sterling of November 2012 - Christmas 2013 rather than the best English player of the second half of last season. No idea why. He was awful.
Danny Welbeck - Honestly didn't even know he was on the pitch. Worst footballer I've ever seen, I'd have Bruno Cheyrou or Igor Biscan over him any day.
Danny Sturridge - Very, very quiet but if you've given no service you can't do anything can you?
Ross Barkley - The new English messiah. Despite only having half a good season, he's suddenly the great England hope. Did he even touch the ball?
Adam Lallana - Didn't really do much but his arrival on the pitch freed up Henderson to go further forward.
Rickie Lambert - Too late for him really. At that stage of the game Uruguay weren't stupid enough to let him get on the ball. Should have been on at half time for "Wazza".
Roy Hodgson - Woy's mistake was not learning who was ineffective in the opener. As clueless as ever. If he manages you to Euro 2016 then I'll be amazed. Useless, uninspiring, boring and just not good enough.
Congrats if you read that far, clearly as bored as I was :')
England's biggest problem has been Hodgson. Can't help but feel that he's made numerous mistakes in squad selection, substitutes, etc. Can't really say much in his defence other than the trust he's placed in younger players.
I thought Rooney was decent, Sturridge didn't play great but he didn't have much support, Baines was sloppy, Johnson was - as per usual - good on the attack, but he leaves huge holes in the back line.
I honestly thought Henderson was England's best player - he was solid all night until he got taken off. Gerrard on the other hand had a stinker. He doesn't have the energy to go chasing balls like he used to, needs more support and needs to sit deeper.
Hodgson's worst mistakes of the match: took Sterling off too early. Put Lambert on too late. Why you wait to put on a striker until that late in the game when you're basically going out of the tournament is beyond me.
As for Suarez, he's the kind of player who could win you a World Cup. If he stays fit for Uruguay, they honestly have a chance.
As for the second goal, Gerrard's header was poor. BUT, what the heck were Cahill and Jagielka doing? Did no one think "oh we better follow Suarez's run?" You can't leave a player like him to run behind you - they should know that well enough, but they let him skip past. No idea whether they were trying to catch him offside or what, but it was a really stupid decision.
@ShogunRok Woy almost relegated us, arguably the biggest club in the country. So the FA awarded him the top job in the country. Incredible. What they gonna do next, sack him and give it to Ole Solskjaer or David Moyes? From top to bottom England are useless. It's no wonder they always balls up. Pun intended.

It is pretty mad when you think about it.
I mean, we're Liverpool fans so we arguably don't have a good view on him to begin with. But at the same time, those were some depressingly dark days. We know how bad a manager he can be better than anyone else.

i did haha. Not bored but i was eating and a good story/analysis always helps.
Agree with most of your points, but I think you have a bit of an agenda against Rooney, rasta -- perhaps that old Everton rivalry shining through. It was hardly a vintage performance from any of the players, but if anyone was going to win the game, it was going to be "Wazza" (as you put it). Totally agree that Suarez was infinitely more clinical than any of our men, though, including Wayne.
To be honest, I went into this World Cup with zero expectations, and I actually commend Woy for picking the younger players like Sterling and giving them go. It's a bit disappointing because we could have won both games, but England just aren't incisive enough. Decent enough up until the last ball, but you need to finish teams off "at this level". /pundit cliche.
