Agree with most of your points, but I think you have a bit of an agenda against Rooney, rasta -- perhaps that old Everton rivalry shining through. It was hardly a vintage performance from any of the players, but if anyone was going to win the game, it was going to be "Wazza" (as you put it). Totally agree that Suarez was infinitely more clinical than any of our men, though, including Wayne.
To be honest, I went into this World Cup with zero expectations, and I actually commend Woy for picking the younger players like Sterling and giving them go. It's a bit disappointing because we could have won both games, but England just aren't incisive enough. Decent enough up until the last ball, but you need to finish teams off "at this level". /pundit cliche.
I have agendas against anyone with massive talent who fails to utilise it, whether it be a singer (Amy Winehouse), actor (Whitney Houston) or a footballer like Wayne Rooney who is happy to settle for second fiddle at United while earning more money a week than everyone who visits PushSquare put together in a week does in a year. He's meant to be England's bright hope and only world class player but the simple truth is he's just average. If he played for, say, Stoke last year he wouldn't have been taken to Brazil. He's there as he plays for United, same as Welbeck. Thank God he's not Italian!
Just seen Hodgson's reaction to the second goal. Jesus Christ. He just looks like a man who's dropped a penny but knows he has a grand in his pocket. He's pathetic. Should be on his feet screaming and trying to rouse his troops.
Intrigued to see what happens next with England though. Gerrard is gone, no doubt. I think whoever replaces Woy - surely sacked - should drop Rooney for at least a year, see if he still has the hunger that I can't see in him. If he does I'll be the first to hold my hands up and say "I was wrong" but I am 101% certain I will never be made to eat my words. There's players who could make the step up but they need to show they can do it more than now and then. Sterling was magnificent last week but useless tonight (should never have been moved to accommodate Rooney). People like Wilshire, Barkley, Ox, Townsend are all the same. They can turn it on for club but when in England white it's so hit and miss. England could really do with missing a tournament or two, sort themselves out and build. Problem is no-one has the patience for that.
i did haha. Not bored but i was eating and a good story/analysis always helps.
Haha, glad I entertained you during meal time. Used to write freelance for the Liverpool Daily Post now and then so when I get on one with football and writing I can tend to go on. Apologies in advance to anyone for that.
Hope Japan can push on from that red card now and beat the Greeks. Nothing against them but got a huge soft spot for Japan. And the longer they stay in the more Japanese girls I get to drool over. I mean the more wonderful support we get to enjoy.
I'm looking forward to see how Italy play tomorrow. They were very organised and very calm against England. If they beat Costa Rica in style, they could really go far.
Also looking forward to seeing Germany again. One of those teams (unlike England) who are just so clinical. Give them a chance, and they'll drill it home 9 times out of 10. Exciting to watch too.
Let's be fair, Rooney totally underperformed as did Sturridge. Nobody did well against Uruguay and Italy was just one decent effort which we lost. The biggest problem we had was a cohesive and effective midfield that that creates clear chances for Rooney and Sturridge and the other problem we have is a completely average defence. I'll say it again, why three strikers, seriously, suicide.
Yeah, defence was very, very poor. If we're going to pile on players, I found Leighton Baines infuriating. There was only a five minute spell after the goal where he did what he normally does for Everton in terms of attacking, otherwise he was way, way, way too cautious.
Reckon Gerrard will retire after the Costa Rica game? (Assuming we don't end up somehow going through, which we won't.)
Now this thread has become very interesting. I love reading posts from somebody going to town on useless players. Replace this football with the NFL, the English players with the Jets and Rasta is as brutal about some of these guys as I am when it comes to the incredibly annoying players on the NYJ. I go through at least 8 remotes a year watching their crap.

Well, he'll be late 30s by the time the EU Championships roll around, so I could see it. But I could also see him giving the Championships a go. Guess it largely depends on how much more he thinks he can give the national team - he's getting to the point where 90 minutes might be too much in a tournament that throws games at you every few days.
I'll try and write this so Sammy won't have to edit this bit but Suarez today... bloody hell. His performance was like football sex. You could crack one off over that. Was sublime. If I came home to find him in bed with my missus I'd probably well up with pride. I love him. More than I did Robbie Fowler, and I never thought any player would get that love from God.
Clarence Seedorf (sexy beast he is too) just made a great point on the Beeb, when Rooney scored the team divided in to two, those celebrating him and those with Johsnon, who should get all the credit there for me, despite being a turnip. Wonder if some players, like fans, didn't agree with moving Sterling to accommodate ol' Potato Head?
Hope Stevie G retires internationally. Couldn't care what happens with England, I want him fit for Liverpool. Even though I fully suspect we won't win the league til he retires for good. The old Michael Owen Sod's Law will come in to play.

I love football, la. More than games. As I've tried to be on here whether it's games or football you gotta be honest. If a player or a game developer needs a kicking I'm first in line. Also at the front of the queue when someone deserves praise. Towards the end of last season I lost my voice three times got kissed by a man who had just been released from prison and is literally Bronson on steroids.
Hodgson assumes our lack of expectation means we'll put up with dross. Wrong. This was abysmal. Does anyone think we he'll mould a squad on the next 2 or 4 years to make a serious challenge of any sort. No. Greg Dyke needs to show everyone how big his Cohunes are and send Roy away. My choice considering who I think would accept the job would be either Laudrup or Pochettino, perhaps Arsene Wenger would have considered had he not just signed 3 more years.

Said a page or two back that The FA should have begged Brendan Rodgers or Roberto Martinez to take the job and still think it was a massive oversight not to go for either. Personally I think they should sack Woy and throw money, property, the finest whores the UK has, anything he wants at Jurgen Klopp.
Suarez's performance was nothing special whatsoever, considering how he's ripped teams apart this season. Saying that, despite obviously half his best he was still ten times better than anyone else on the pitch. He did what was required to put England away. Hopefully sturridge can learn a lot from Suarez and keep Rooney on the bench, he'd make a good substitute. I just wish United had sold Rooney to Chelsea or may still to PSG. He's not quite Torres yet and has a chance to reclaim his form. After all this though it wouldn't surprise me if Italy win their last two games and England go through. That would be a lovely farce.

Was better than any slaughtering he'd done because the Uruguay team is dross (bar Cavani who, for me, is nowhere near the hype), he did it all while injured and just has the sheer determination to do wonders. Watch the replays of the second goal, he can barely stand. Just wonderful. There's not many complete players around nowadays, he's one. I was there when he got four against Norwich at Anfield and when he ripped United apart to get Kuyt a hat-trick plus down at White Hart Lane when we gave Spurs a good hiding, they were all world class performances. Tonight was better. The movement on and off the ball, the way he was screaming instructions at everyone, how he kept his cool despite his body not being able to always do what he wanted, the passion, the maturity he's no showing, the way he's three steps ahead of everyone else... Wonderful. Although I can see why some would argue otherwise it's easily the best individual performance so far for me. Can't wait for him and Pirlo to be on the same pitch.
It would have been even funnier if Suarez had done it with Godin sent off. Even if a miracle does happen and we go through we clearly have zero chance. I guess I'll be following Chile and Croatia as my favoured neutral teams. I usually like to see Italy do well because I enjoy their style and classy play but I'm sure they'll be there in the last 4 again regardless anyway.
Yeah Italy haven't turned up. That said, Balotelli should have taken his chance. Should be a good second half given the score, I doubt Italy will sit down and take it.
What a game Italy v Uruguay will be now, eh? Shoot-out to stay in the World Cup. Can't wait. Incredible by Costa Rica to be top of the group with a game left, they'll easily beat England too I reckon and win the group. To think before a ball had been kicked it was all "Whoever scores the least against Costa Rica out of Italy, England and Uruguay is the team to miss out". Just - once more - shows the ignorance of the English press and media.
Also, to be fair on my criticism of Rooney, Balotelli is not much better. He really needs to learn some humility and realise he's not as good (at all) as he thinks he is. He'll never be a great, no matter what he thinks of himself.
