It's about time we had one of these, we can talk about regular season games and stuff here too but to start it off, lets talk about this year's offseason transactions, which I still think are far from done, but lots of interesting stuff has already transpired the last few days after LeBron James announced where he was going. So here's the interesting moves so far..
LeBron James, back to Cleveland where it all began. The Cavs already have a much better supporting cast in place than the last time he was there and after his four-year hiatus James returns as a more mature and even better player than he was before, still in his prime, only know he knows how to be an actual team leader and the championship experience he got will be invaluable. Kyrie Irving is a star in the making they'll have either Andrew Wiggins or Kevin Love if they trade Wiggins for him, Anderson Varejao. Just need to add a little depth to the bench, and I think they're ready to contend even if James himself is saying it's going to be a process.
The second biggest move has to be Melo sticking it out with the Knicks and taking the gamble on Phil Jackson being able to right the ship, even if he's not the head coach. Need a superstar to build around, Melo gives them that, but the work there is still far from finished. That supporting cast is too inconsistent. Two years ago one of the top seeds in the NBA, last year they were straight garbage, who knows what you get this year. And Melo, for as great a scorer he is, is an absolute joke on defense.
I'm a Bulls fan and I'm disappointed we whiffed on a megastar again, wanted to add Melo because even with his faults, the guy knows how to rack up points. I can't help but wonder if something is wrong with this front office that it can't attract people to Chicago, but, it is what it is. I do like the Pau Gasol signing even if he's 34. Hopefully he'll have enough the tank to at least give us two good years, he does add depth and has a championship pedigree from his time with the Lakers. If Rose comes back healthy and Doug McDermott can provide some scoring we should be good again but we need a star to put us over the top. Melo may have been that guy, wish we could've found out.
The Heat have Bosh back, just added Luol Deng (great signing) and you figure D. Wade resigns. They should still be good, we'll see what Danny Granger and Josh McRoberts bring. It's never easy when you lose the best player in the game but the Heat are a pretty good organization so I don't think it'll be too long before they're serious contenders again.
Great idea for a thread, Gamer83. I'm afraid I'm not a follower of the sport, but I'm sure some of our other members are! Always wanted to get into basketball purely because NBA 2K looks so good...
Well, we have a decent number of users here from North America right? I'd think some of them are into the sport. And NBA 2K is awesome. Just pre-ordered 2K15 the other day. I love this stuff almost as much as I love baseball and the NFL so October can't get here quick enough for me.
