@KratosMD Repetitive. I've never played Persona before mate so I don't know how it stacks up.

I've found tunes with words get repetitive quicker than without, the walking around town tune got old an hour into the game.

@themcnoisy I thought exactly the same to be honest. It's a pretty good soundtrack initially but it really started to grate on me after a while.

Just finished Persona 4 Golden!
Such a great game! The final dungeon was kind of a let down for me, but it was all about the ride and the relationships that were forged. Having played Persona 4 Arena & Ultimax I was aware of certain things, so I made certain decisions when the time came.
I still prefer Persona 3 Portable, but I appreciate that Persona 4 Golden improved all the things I really liked. I just preferred P3Ps darker story, the way the dungeons were handled and the way the Persona were summoned.

My personal ranking, having played all of them for the first time in the last 6 months:

4. Persona 2 (great story, terrible game)
3. Persona (good game all around)
2. Persona 4 Golden (excellent)
1. Persona 3 Portable (perfection)

Persona 5??

@KratosMD I really enjoyed the soundtrack. Definitely the best out of all the games. Looking forward to revisit them when I get to Persona 4 Dancing All Night.

@KratosMD I got the good/normal ending, made it to the last day. I was actually going for the true ending but I must have missed something. Will look it up later. Finished the game at lvl 86. Tam Lin was my main, with White Rider, Michael & Hachiman as my support, so it was a breeze (growth 3 FTW!).
The ending was great, but the final battle was a let down for me (I know I was over levelled), especially compared to P3P which was an absolute epic.

I skipped through a lot of days as by December I already had the Mr Perfect trophy & maxed out all the social links I cared about.
Also 16 hours in my save got corrupted & I wasn't able to save either, but the game was still running & trophies were still popping so I had to rush in case something happened.

Just restarted the vita...yep no save data =(

I'm sat at the 6th of November at the dream castle dungeon. A certain someone has been kidnapped, I felt real emotion and had to rescue said person straight away. No way is some delivery freak getting away with this!

I took a detour back to old dungeons prior to the castle scenario and am now on 44% persona compendium with 50 item cards held by Marie. Bloody long 7 In game days since comment 46. But I wanted to see some of the other Personas and level up a touch.

@KratosMD thanks for the comment on the true ending. I'm not gonna spoil the game but will look when that date strikes! Can you still level social links after the 3rd December?

@KratosMD Spent about 6 hours on P4G today, I can't put it down and have only just saved at the end of the 4th of December. I thought the game was excellent before hand. It's now sat inside my top 10 games ever. Unbelievable stuff. The story is just getting better and better and knowing this major part of the game is missable is mind blowing really. The atmosphere when the fog descends is horrible, I've been playing with decent cans and the music at that point was really dark and moody.

@themcnoisy One thing to watch for now is if you complete the next dungeon quickly you will lose a lot of days to socialise etc. So it's better to take your time here, although if you want some extra scenes you'll want to be done a few days before Christmas. There are lots of little things you can miss throughout the game which is a good thing imo.

@booshy89 Be prepared mate, I'm creeping up to 50 hours and I'm still only at the start of December.

@Dichotomy @KratosMD cool I'm gonna run until the 21st incase I have to bail out of the dungeon and buy supplies. The dungeons get way better with Natomi and Rise in the team, combined with the social link bonuses the battles are over quickly leading to more shuffle bonus opportunities. Awesome game, those first dungeons really stop the game beating the likes of Final Fantasy 8, Ridge Racer Type 4, Mass Effect 2, Halo Reach and Super Monkey Ball in my all time top 5. But hopefully this end game will leave me in no doubt.

@themcnoisy A few general hints for dungeons so you'll never need to take more than one day to do them are:
1) You can use a go home item at any point and it will save the floor you are on when you come back and the use of this is...
2) When you get low on mana (mana is far more important than health since a small amount of mana can heal you) you can go to an earlier dungeon and kill monsters for a bit to get the cards with cups on that replenish your mana.
3) You can also open gold chests to sometimes get strong mana items, this is very easy in earlier dungeons.
4) If you can avoid using mana in a fight in exchange for a little damage you should do this as Yukiko can pretty much heal the party for 7 mana or a single member for 3 mana with the right items.

Of course this is a bit more of a grind so you might not want to do it, but it is the easiest way if you want to maximise your social time and you run into trouble in a dungeon.

@Dichotomy good tips, I found using go home items that I did a couple of floors, bailed out, saved and shut down early doors. The dungeons early on are just too big. 11 floors of monotony in the second dungeon with a low levelled team boohoo. Thankfully they don't get any bigger. The all electric / ice / fire / wind spells help loads later on you can find out weaknesses in a round of goes, rather than 2-3. So yup the dungeons are OK later on.

Sat at the 10th of January roughly. Marie proper had a go at me for not leveling her SL. I mean properly had a go at me. Shouted at me in first person and has now left the game in a huff. What's that all about? Chie is my gf so bog off lol.

@KratosMD yup I read the link about the choices in early December but didn't read anything else so I didn't spoil the game. Damn it! Haha oh well. Last few months then the games done.

The scene with Nanakos valentine's egg was laugh out loud and I woke my daughter up laughing in bed last night. One of the funniest scenes in gaming ever and one of the best as the whole games food jokes have been leading up to it. Persona 4 is the highest recommend you could ever get. The characters and writing are absolutely amazing, I'm gonna miss the investigation team too.

@booshy89 are you still playing P4G bro?

@KratosMD leaving it until the end of the month tbh. I just picked up yakuza zero this morning so will play that and try to enjoy Uncharted 4. Your totally right, I wouldn't want to jump right into P5 after the 63 hours I've put into P4G. Some light gaming for a while. But yes P4G is awesome, up there with FF 8 for me.

Wow never expected the last dungeon. Nice little bit of end game special content and a gold trophy to boot.

So yes my time with P4G is all over and I'm made up I got to experience it. Best game on Vita I've played.

Definitely justifies ownership of the Vita more than any other game, I reckon. I'll replay this sometime after Persona 5!

Hey all, so I was on a long train journey today and decided to get back in to P4G. I am up to the first proper dungeon but I don't get the combat. What is the best way to approach it? Not used to turn bases or jrpg's.

@Rudy_Manchego great choice bro, the whole idea is to find enemy weakness and then going in for an all out attack. Whenever you encounter a new enemy try all the magic types until you uncover the enemies weakness. Most enemies when hit by the weak spell will go into a crumpled state, if all enemies on screen are crumpled you can then hit an all out attack. You can use R1 to bring up an enemies stats. A question mark symbol means you haven't tried that spell yet.
