--------------------------SPOILERS IN THIS POST-------------------------
So what are people thinking about the demo? I've played up until I sacrificed the female companion and some multiplayer, and to be honest, I'm still not sure it's a purchase for me. I was expecting a little more than just small arenas, some adventuring perhaps. Is this how Monster Hunter plays too (since this is meant to be direct competition)? I like the system, I like the set up too and multiplayer works flawlessly. But still, it feels a little hollow to me.

So far, I'm enjoying it, but it wasn't what I expected. Combat takes a while to warm up and still confuses me a bit.
I completely agree that the small arenas are a bit weird. Part of the fun in Monster Hunter was the hunting!
I feel like I need a lot more time with it as there just seems to be a lot going on. It reminds me a lot of Phantom Dust (a game most people probably never heard of ) on the original Xbox. The more I played that game, the more I loved it. Unfortunately, at this time, I think MH3rdP and Freedom Unite are both more fun. That said, I'd probably still play this over MH3.
To save our Mother Earth from any alien attack
From vicious giant insects who have once again come back
We'll unleash all our forces we won't cut them any slack
The EDF deploys!!
There's a lot there, and some considerable depth your combat options. I'm going to give it some more time. The multiplayer -while a little hectic- was good fun, and with much bigger demons than that first section of the journal.
Dont know what you are talking about? The story is perfect and if you listened/read enough you will know this is the journal of some wizard. You can relive his own memories... Perfect Multiplayer is really fun!@
Does the demo include Trophies? Only because if it doesn't and the save transfers over to the real game you'd surely be past a couple of Trophies. Right?
"Oh smeg. What the smegging smegs he smegging done? He's smegging killed me."

Well, I wouldn't say any story is perfect, that's the fun of stories. As I said, I like the set up, the story is puddle shallow and the game play not much deeper-but, perhaps the system is worth exploring. Since there's no actual exploration.
@Rasta No trophies, but I'd have thought once the full game installs and picks up the demo save game it'll reconcile itself.

I know it's not necessarily the same, but I think retro city rampage let you earn trophies on the demo and would then unlock once you bought the full version. It's possible this game does the same.
Well I tried it, then tried again, but its not for me. Loved the back story of how the monsters became monsters, but the game it's self is a bit dull and samey. Pre order cancelled.
well i played the demo and i gotta say, i don't like it yeah it has some interesting features but the game just doesn't connect with me so i won't be getting it
"I pity you. You just don't get it at all...there's not a thing I don't cherish!"
"Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!
I see why people think it's dull really. It takes a bit of a time investment to understand the value and addictive properties to the game.
It's not all THAT different from Monster Hunter in that sense. I've had MANY people quit MH early on because they couldn't kill the Kut Ku and their choice of gear was so limited.
All that said, does anyone fully understand how the system works to acquire skills? Are they set rewards from mission ranks or is there any random chances? I'd like to start farming before the game comes out, but it seems I get the same rewards almost every mission.
