@Ralizah It's better than everyone being dubbed in dodgy poorly spelt Yankeedoodle.

@Ralizah Honestly, I love the comedy cockney accents. But then I'm the one guy who liked watching Ong Bak dubbed because I thought it was amusing how everyone sounded like they were from Sarf Lahndan.

It should at least keep people happy though. I know the whole Japanese audio thing has been high on the wish list for a lot of people when it comes to games like these for a long time, so it's nice to see it being addressed.

@johncalmc The fact that I like the character designs and personalities more than in the original game so far will probably also help. Unlike a lot of people, I thought Xenoblade 1 had an obnoxious and shallow cast. Particularly Reyn.

It'll be interesting to hear the cockney accents coming out of what look to be straight anime people.

Honestly, between the lack of major censorship, embrace of "mature" games like DOOM and Gal Gun, and the lack of region locking, it feels like Nintendo has addressed three of the most contentious issues people had with their Wii U era policy and hardware in one go.

I never watch Directs or anything similar to them concerning games I'm already planning on buying, or am considering buying. Companies like to spoil 3/4 of the game before it's actually out. Nintendo is pretty bad for that, too.

@kyleforrester87 I actually didn't watch it. Like SMO and BotW before it, I feel like Nintendo is way overexposing this game.

I have mixed feelings about the Xenoblade games, but I really like the streamlined UI and colorful, anime-esque character designs in this one, so it'll probably be a day-one download.

How do you over expose a niche franchise...

@BLP_Software By showing off tons of footage of the game pre-release like it did with SMO and BotW?

Not sure what the popularity of a franchise has to do with the degree to which it's over-exposed in pre-release advertising and whatnot.

@Ralizah I'd say Zelda and Mario didn't need much push in that regard. But its good to do it anyway. Consumers respond to repeated messages, especially effective ones.

As for Xenoblade, hey more focus on it is good.

Like...seriously. You know the size of these games. They've shown probably 2% of the enemies at most. Showed off how mechanics work. A fair few Blades (God knows how deep that rabbit hole is) and literally snippets of huge sprawling areas. What do we know of the other Titans? They exist. And general theming. There may be even more. What do we know of the story? Err...fighting over some girl who can transform and the species was banished from the World Tree for reasons.

That's not over exposure. Letting people know "Hey, the game exists. This is how the gameplay works. This the general gist of it." isn't over exposure. That's effective marketing. Now if it was rammed down out throat and they showed every Titan in detail like the showed so much of the Great Plateau or a god few Kingdoms, then sure. I'd see the complaint.

But right now? We know shockingly little about the game.

There is a difference between "Over exposure" which I can only guess is "I'm a fan and I don't want to see anymore of this because spoilers", and "Effective marketing" which is letting everyone else know your game exists as much as possible and selling them on it.

Now, realistically, which would you prefer? Which one benefits us as gamers more in the long run?

@BLP_Software The advertising for Xenoblade hasn't been great. WAY too much focus on lore and battle mechanics, to the point where people were getting bored with the Xenoblade section of Nintendo Directs. At the very least, Mario and Zelda's exposure looked fun and made me want to play them. If I wasn't already into the idea of playing XB2, this advertising would have turned me off of it. It showed off too much of the wrong things.

I always skip the Xenoblade sections, but I got bored with the first game, X looked even less appealing, and although 2 has a better art style, the voice acting sounds horrible. Not something I'd want to play I think.

Ralizah

I really like how streamlined the battle UI is in Xenoblade 2. Arts are mapped to specific button presses, so no more unwieldy MMO-esque arts bar to worry about.

The art style is gorgeous, like a really big budget Tales game.

Not really digging the English voice acting for the main character, but considering there's dual audio, that shouldn't be an issue.

The music is more in the style of the first game, but more memorable based on what I've heard so far.

The game has a steampunk-ish FF9/Skies of Arcadia feel to it.

And, best of all, the game will be playable anywhere, which will make it much more convenient than Xenoblade 1 and X.

I'm down.

I'm totally down with everything I've seen from Xenoblade so far, and I've just started avoiding news from it now. I'm sold.

Good! Loving this system! Still, I think I'll get most my multiplatforms on PS4 unless graphics are of no concern just to enjoy the better quality image..

New systems always take an eternity to be worth buying (Switch seems to be one of the few exceptions to the rule) so I have no plans to buy a PS5 at launch, either. Kind of a shame, but I'll have plenty of PS4 and Switch games to play for a good while.

Ralizah

PS5 will inevitably be marketed as THE TRUE 4K HOME CONSOLE EXPERIENCE, which I have absolutely no interest in, so I'm thinking I'll probably be playing the PS4 long into the future.

And, of course, the Switch is my dream console and is the one system I plan on actively supporting for years to come.

I might get a Switch Pro or something in a few years if it significantly upgrades the portable experience, but otherwise I'm done buying gaming hardware for the foreseeable future.

Just ordered a Switch on Amazon!

It was a tough call between the Switch & PS4 (this'll be my first new hardware since I got the 3DS at launch), but the portable factor won me over (I rarely get the TV to myself after work, or on the weekends, so PS4, as much as I'd like it, would mostly be used for an hour or two on weekday mornings).

This'll be a long week and a half wait, lol (chose the free shipping).

@RR529 Even so there are alot of great games coming to the Switch that are on PS4 like Doom, LA Noire, Stardew Valley and Rocket League just to name a few.
