@JohnnyShoulder Friendly gamer guy Phil is looking more like a shady used car salesman everyday. It's amazing the stuff they discuss internally though and I can imagine that next call to anyone important at Nintendo is going to be interesting.
@render I doubt it - If you look at what has happened with MS and Nintendo over the past few years, you'd realise that they have a pretty good relationship with each other. MS may have wanted to buy Nintendo, and ANY Gaming company would be interested in that prospect and if they aren't, are lying.
When you realise that the information in those leaks are 'years' old now, Its not like Nintendo are only finding out now that MS was 'interested' in purchasing a few years ago and now that is suddenly going to affect their relationship despite not affecting it for the past few years. Just because its now become 'public', that doesn't mean that the 'relevant' people didn't know and/or years later, will suddenly be shocked to find out. Since then, MS and Nintendo have agreed deals together - inc a 10yr agreement to bring CoD to Nintendo for the first time in years.
Business is business and I bet Sony and Nintendo both have things they'd rather not reveal into the Public domain either.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
@render aye, he’s actually incredibly objective, you might not think it from reading his words but… he ‘owns both consoles’ and therefore case closed 🫠
@colonelkilgore@JohnnyShoulder It's good to know we've got someone to turn to for a totally unbiased opinion on anything related to our favourite multi-trillion dollar company, especially someone with insider knowledge (and potentially good share options) 🤑
Its pretty obvious and you just have to open your eyes and look back over the past couple of years. Nintendo would have been aware of Phils admiration and interest in purchasing. Obviously that never happened and years later, it 'leaks' out to the Public so apart from 'apologising' that this leaked out, I bet it was NO surprise to Nintendo at all.
Since then, we have seen Nintendo sign a 10yr deal with MS for ABK/Cod content for example. There was 'rumours' about MS buying Nintendo years ago when Switch kept appearing on Phil Spencers Shelf - although turned out to be a Gift from Nintendo to Phil. This was 'after' MS really had discussed that possibility. The news that MS may have wanted to buy Nintendo may be 'new' to you, but its 'old' news. Its like finding out years later that nVidia wanted to buy ARM and then being angry at nVidia and expecting ARM to be upset, but that was 'years' ago and they both knew at the time and moved on.
https://gamerant.com/head-of-xbox-phil-spencer-nintendo-switc... Article dated July 2021 as an example. It too talks about the fact that MS and Nintendo are on 'good' terms and certainly hasn't impacted either Company in recent years. As I said, Nintendo agreed to a 10yr Contract and had absolutely no objections to MS buying ABK or Bethesda - in fact have been more supportive than objecting.
Being objective and not being a fanboy for ANY of the main Console brands, where is any evidence that Nintendo are hearing that for the first time and does it matter 'today?'. What has happened in the previous few years to suggest that Nintendo had any grudge with MS? I see more evidence that Nintendo and MS are preparing a future of 'co-existance', not merging. I see more evidence of MS wanting to bring games to Switch - which only supports their ecosystem and strengthens Nintendo's Library.
Please show me something that shows MS are STILL trying to buy Nintendo or that Nintendo are upset/angry with MS. At most, they can be upset that this 'leaked' out to the Public, although it hurts MS more. Nintendo have really turned their fortunes around after the WiiU and in a much stronger position today than 3-4 yrs ago...

@BAMozzy Do you suffer from excessive wear on your keyboard or phone screen? I guess you can get a subscription to cover that these days as well. Thanks for the additional information, keep me posted and I'll check it out when I've got a spare few hours.
Microsoft has wanted to get their mitts on Nintendo for decades.
I doubt anything serious was proposed. If Nintendo people were laughing at them back then for proposing it, can you imagine how Switch-era execs would react? lol

I also think the big issue being overlooked was Spencer had an insider planning to curry favor and force Nintendo out of hardware. I think Nintendo would be pissed off hearing this.
No matter how much logic and or evidence you provide, some people are SO blinkered that they will perform an array of perfect tens in mental gymnastics in order to prove that butter wouldn’t melt for Phil and Microsoft. Good effort though.
I’ve played enough of Starfield that I can say that it’s just ok. I dunno, it’s not grabbed me. I like the idea of space but it’s not actually that interesting a setting to me. I like my goofy guy and the gameplay is basically Fallout but honestly, I don’t get the sense of wonder that I get from Elder Scrolls. It feels like a game from 10 years ago holding down some genuinely impressive systems that are struggling to break free from the Bethesda formula. It’s like a Jack of all trades, there’s a lot there but I don’t think that as a whole, it’s the slam dunk that Microsoft needed.
@nessisonett Have your thoughts changed much in a week? I’m still undecided on it though I haven’t been near it since the weekend so that’s probably quite telling. I’m a bit gutted if I’m honest.
We’re playing The Plucky Squire this month, join us!
I feel I haven't heard anything about Starfield @nessisonett so what impressive systems do it have? I'm genuinely curious because it sounded just like more of the same old Bethesda gameplay just in space

@nessisonett I haven't been very impressed with it either after 20 hours of play. I find it incredibly boring, particularly the main quest. It's really missing the exploration element of a Fallout or Elder Scrolls game. You just fast travel from planet to planet, choosing the exact location you need every time to complete a quest. There's no reason for me to turn the objective marker off and wander off in the opposite direction, and that's really disappointing.
@AgentCooper@LiamCroft sums up my feelings almost perfectly. There’s not much room at all to just wander, and that’s what I loved doing in Skyrim especially, you can pick a direction and you’ll find all sorts. I understand that it has to be fundamentally different because space is naturally a collection of planets but it completely disrupts the flow of the game. You would spend more time in menus and fast travelling than playing the game if you decided to ignore objectives and go on a wander.
@HallowMoonshadow For starters, it has one of the most bafflingly impressive physics engines I’ve seen, especially if you come across a pile of items. It’s almost entirely useless as the gameplay doesn’t depend on it in any way, just how high you jump on each planet is about it. The scale is also mad, feels a lot like if Mass Effect had allowed you to land on every planet but again, it’s a double-edged sword as there just isn’t much of a reason to land on most planets. Outpost building and ship building are as good as I’ve seen those systems in any game, ships especially are exactly what you would want from that, being able to create anything from a hot dog to the Millennium Falcon. Like I said, it’s a total Jack of all trades, there’s loads right with it, but it’s built on very very shaky foundations and just some fundamental flaws with pacing that can’t be overcome in any way through updates or DLC.
