Which Lifepath should you choose in Cyberpunk 2077? In this Cyberpunk 2077 guide, we're going to give you an overview of the game's three available Lifepaths, and hopefully help you decide what kind of backstory you want your character to have.
What Are Lifepaths in Cyberpunk 2077?
There are three Lifepaths in Cyberpunk 2077:
- Nomad
- Streetkid
- Corpo
You choose your Lifepath at the start of the game, before you even create your character's appearance. Your Lifepath is basically your character's background — where they're from and what kind of life they've lived up until this point.
What Differences Do Lifepaths Make in Cyberpunk 2077?
Your Lifepath choice determines the prologue section of Cyberpunk 2077. The Lifepath prologues aren't very long — they can be completed in around an hour.
The Lifepath that you choose may also get you some exclusive quests further into the game.
What's more, your choice opens up Lifepath-specific dialogue options every now and then.
Lifepaths do not have an effect on your character's stats or abilities.
What Lifepath Should You Choose in Cyberpunk 2077?
Before we get into the details, don't worry too much about choosing the "right" Lifepath in Cyberpunk 2077. There is no "best" Lifepath, and once you're in Night City, beyond the game's prologue, your Lifepath doesn't make a huge difference to how things play out. They're great for helping you feel more immersed in the game's world, though.
Now then, the Lifepaths themselves...
Nomad
As a Nomad, you've spent your life travelling across the wastes of North America with your clan. In the Nomad prologue, you've parted ways with your clan, and you're now working for yourself. In Night City, Nomads are considered 'outsiders' or 'outcasts', who are often caught up in criminal activates, such as the smuggling of illegal or stolen goods.
Perfect for an outsider's perspective.
Nomad is the only Lifepath that doesn't start you off in Night City. Instead, you begin the game outside the city, in a desert known as the Badlands.
Streetkid
As a Streetkid, you grew up on the poverty-stricken streets of Night City, wheeling and dealing with all kinds of people — most of them criminals in one way or another. You're a punk in true Cyberpunk fashion — someone who's working their way out of the gutter by any means necessary.
Perfect for a rags-to-riches story.
The Streetkid Lifepath starts you out in a rundown, violent Nighty City district called Heywood.
Corpo
As a Corpo, you're a cog in the corporate machine — someone who's looking to climb the company ladder no matter the cost. It's all about business, sabotage, and showing no mercy to those who get between you and personal success.
Perfect for a more cold-hearted character.
The Corpo Lifepath begins in the most foreboding business district of Night City.
What Lifepath will you choose in Cyberpunk 2077? Follow your heart — or lack thereof — in the comments section below.

Nomad looks interesting but I don't like the fact that people will call me outsider.
I'm thinking Corpo for my first playthrough, using as much stealth and hacking as I can get away with
Deffo street kid work my way up from nothing just like Johnny Rotten.
3 hours to go.
I'm pricking Corpo mainly because i feel like everyone is picking street kid and the nomad character seems too plain when it comes to possible different character interactions,
I'm picking Corpo mainly because it feels the most unique of the 3 and i'm curious on how this background will play into dialogue and how characters view me.
Streetkid feels like the most classic cyberpunk experience but corpo is interesting since you'll be playing as the side that are usually the bad guys. Nomad could nicely line-up to how the whole thing is new to the player like it is for a nomad. It's hard to choose.
So which one should I choose?
Nomad for me I think, going from that. Not for a while though.
Definitely going Corpo for my first play through. Sounds like a great back story.
I'm thinking Nomad as starting in a outback as a drifter before making your way into the reveal of the city just sounds perfect narratively speaking.
I'm going evil Corpo b**ch my 1st play through lol
I've always said Nomad when they first showed off the different Lifepaths. Something about travelling from outside of the city into it appeals to me.
Corpo all the way.
Streetkid who likes to cut fools up with swords. Delicious.
Will try Corpo first time around, wonder if I can create a Patrick Bateman character 🤔
I’ll give it a go! 🤠 <changes profile picture>
I think I am going to try nomad first, street kid in my second play trough and save corpo until last
I really can't decide street kid or corpo. It doesn't matter that much but it also means everything!
Glad not a super big deal because not really big on any of the 3.
Steetkid I guess, I like the car in the poster.
Ahhh, didn't actually know this was a feature. Loved this option in DAO which was missed completely in DAI. Will probably pick Nomad when I do get the game sometime next year.
Corpo...I love interiors in videogames. All we've seen are bars and streets. I think the Corpo paths gives us a nice peek into the ritzy places. I'm thinking it will look like the office scenes from FF7 Remake.
Nomad for sure! I like the idea of starting outside the city and experiencing entering the city for the first time.
@Spoonman-2 But what are your opinions on Huey Lewis and the News? And have you seen my new business card?
Can I be a good side corpo?
Who are you to criticize
To judge and burn the tribes
The world will be extinct
And your flesh will rot with mine
Nomad, Nomad, Nomad, Nomad
@Deadhunter
Get us a reservation at Dorsia’s, then we can discuss and compare business cards
So basically:
@Jayofmaya
Are you taking about DOA Dragon origins.? Where you choice your starting area/ background.
Even in DAI Dragon age inquisition you could choose it. Even transfer you progress from the first two through a website. If I recall correctly
@Ridwaano Yes, but Inquisition didn't have a unique prologue for each race. Origins had a lot, Casteless Dwarf, Dwarven Noble, Human Mage, Elf mage, etc.
@Jayofmaya
Nothing like DAO.
But cyperpunk is coming close
