As the introductory cutscene for Steven reveals, he'll stalk the aisles of Seon's Food & Stuff with a shopping cart kitted out with knives and gardening tools. They're all sticking out the metal edges, so if he collides with you when he charges down an aisle, you'll suffer heavy damage. Steven also has a shotgun, which he pulls out from time to time when you climb up onto the shelving or are far away. If you get behind him, he's liable to kick backwards and knock you down.

Before entering the store, we recommend stocking up on Katanas from Ripper's Blades, which is the shop in the North Plaza right next to it. Using these — or a gun if you've brought one along — try to avoid the charges and dashes he performs with the trolley by either climbing the shelves or positioning yourself at the end of the aisles. That way, you have an easy escape route. Also, since you're in a supermarket, there'll be a plentiful supply of healing items.

Using the shelving to get away from Steven, we suggest climbing up and over when he has his shotgun out, and dropping down behind him to get some Katana slashes away. They deal heavy damage, so after a few hits, retreat over the shelving and come drop down again on his other side. He can be easily manipulated to where you take minimal damage as he becomes confused by your position. If a shotgun blast does land, you'll lose one block of health — the same goes for getting hit by the trolley. Fully deplete his health bar and you'll win the encounter.
