Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Where the Wind Blows Walkthrough

Where the Wind Blows is a Side Quest in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth that can be started in Chapter 2. As part of our Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth guide, we're going to provide a Where the Wind Blows Walkthrough that covers all the stages of the Side Quest. It takes place in the Grasslands.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Where the Wind Blows Walkthrough

After completing A Rare Card Lost and Livestock's Bane from the Community Noticeboard in Kalm, you can return to the same place and pick up Where the Wind Blows. It unlocks in Chapter 2, but with a Suggested Level of 22, you will probably need to come back to it later to finish it.

Broden's Request

Once you've picked up the Side Quest, go and speak to Broden at the inn to see what's up. He wants you to offer your assistance to Mildred out in the Grasslands.

Speak with Mildred

You'll find Mildred at the Windmill Settlement east of Kalm, near the coast. She needs your help sourcing a part to fix one of the windmills, but you'll first need to complete Lifesprings to get it.

Procure Materials

To complete this part of the Side Quest, seek out Expedition Intel 1: Cragshade Lifespring and Expedition Intel 2: Wetlands Lifespring in the Grasslands. Doing so reveals Excavation Intel 1: Bygone Settlement on your map, which houses the Windmill Gear Transmuter Chip. Complete the activity and you'll have earned it, but you need to craft it using the Item Transmuter.

The final material you'll need will almost certainly be the Quetzalcoatl Talon, which you'll get from a rare bird. To reveal its location in the Grasslands as a Classified Intel activity, you must first complete Expedition Intel 3: Morass Lifespring and Expedition Intel 4: Grasswastes Lifespring. Having done so, head for the green Side Quest marker just southeast of the Mako Pipeline Maintenance Warehouse. Having beaten the Quetzalcoatl, you'll be awarded the Quetzalcoatl Talon.

Deliver the Windmill Gear

Now you have all the parts you need, open up the Item Transmuter and scroll to the end to Key Items to craft the Windmill Gear. Now return to the Windmill Settlement and hand the Windmill Gear over. When you regain control, be sure to pick up the Cleansing Materia off the ground in front of the windmill.

Report to Broden

With the windmill fixed, return to Broden in Kalm to complete the Side Quest.
