What Software Do You Need to Play PSVR2 on PC?

Now that you’ve got all the hardware you need, let’s get into the software. To begin, you’ll need a Steam profile, along with the Steam app installed on your PC. You can download Steam through here.
Once you've done all of that, you’ll need to download the following apps from the Steam store:
Both items are free to download and have fairly small file sizes, so you shouldn't have too much difficulty getting them downloaded and installed.
How Do You Connect PSVR2 to PC?

With all of the appropriate software installed, it's time to connect things up:
- Connect the power cable and power brick to the PSVR2 PC Adapter and plug them in
- Connect the DisplayPort 1.4 cable between the PSVR2 PC Adapter and your PC's GPU slot
- Connect the USB-A cable between the PSVR PC Adapter and your PC (don't use a USB hub or extender)
- Connect the USB-C cable from PSVR2 to the front of the PSVR2 PC Adapter

Once you've followed all of these steps, turn on your PSVR2 headset by pushing the button in the centre of the underside of your visor. You'll know everything is good to go if the red light on the PSVR2 PC Adapter turns solid white. Don't put your headset on just yet.
How Do You Connect PSVR2 Sense Controllers to PC with Bluetooth?

While it's quite easy to connect your PSVR2 Sense Controllers to PC with Bluetooth, remember you will need a Bluetooth 4.0 (or later) connection. If you're sure you've got one of these, follow these steps:
- Hold the Home button and the Share button on the left PSVR2 Sense Controller
- Hold the Home button and the button on the right PSVR2 Sense Controller
You'll know the controller is trying to pair by the flashing light at the base of the grip.

Once they're flashing, check your Bluetooth settings and look for the pairable devices. Your PSVR2 Sense Controllers should display, and by clicking on them they'll connect.
The default turn off time for your PSVR2 Sense Controllers is quite short, but if you tap the PS buttons on either, this will reconnect them. If you're having trouble with connecting your controllers, or the controllers struggle to stay connected, you may not have the appropriate Bluetooth capabilities.
How Do You Setup the PSVR2 App and Play Games?

At this point, you're ready load the PSVR2 App in Steam, which will start by asking you to connect the headphones that come with the PSVR2. If you've already got these connected, you'll need to pull the 3.5mm audio connector out, and reconnect it for it to register.
Following this, the app will run you through the process of how to wear your headset and adjust it comfortably. You can pass through most of this by pushing the Function button, which can be found right of the power button on the underside of the PSVR2 headset.
You can learn how to correctly wear the PSVR2 headset using the video below:
After you've put on the headset, you’ll be prompted to scan your play area, adjust your floor height, and edit your play space.

Once you've finished, switch to the SteamVR app, which is essentially a 3D environment where you can launch and download VR games. You can now play VR games on PC with your PSVR2.

Adapter with courier. Quite excited for an old chap. 😁
Edit: Took around 5 mins plugging in and 5 mins setup. Honestly it's a doddle but then I have latest onboard bluetooth I as I just built this pc, no issues with controllers. Why ACC isn't VR on ps5 is a mystery, but it's brilliant. Have a standard DV cable so need a 1.4 but plays okay on lower settings at mo. New cable is ordered. Thank you Sony, for doing this, was never buying a PC headset.
AMD Ryzen 5 7800 x3d
32gb DDR 5
RTX 4070
More M2 ssd than I need. 😁
@BeerIsAwesome Well, that's two more games than you had before! Haha!
@get2sammyb: Well, you know what he meant, actually shame on pushsquare for going easy on Sony for almost abandoning the psvr2 platform. The list of big VR games relases in the last couple of months is ridiculous. Honestly I don't understand it. And I don't understand why the tech was not embraced from the very start by the players as it deserved to be. It's a great platform.
@daldrum Criticised for going easy on PSVR2? Are you joking? We usually get criticised for the opposite!!!
I have this. I hate it. I may be just very unlucky, but I can't get the room scan to work properly (I just get a black screen, and can't see the floor height adjustment screen) so I'm always about 9 inches tall. I also haven't been able to reliably connect my sense controllers, despite buying a recommended (but not guaranteed to work.....odd) Bluetooth adapter. It's been a rubbish 3 days. It didn't need to be like this....
@get2sammyb: Well that's my impression. I don't think I ever felt so let down by a company selling their product. One of the main reasons I bought PS5 was VR. *uck them. At the same time I'm not sure why this failed. IMHO it is a great platform and I am the one who is more on the traditional path of gaming (I'm way over 50) but it seems to me that majority of younger players are even more conservative.
@Neilypoos Get an IR illuminator - a cheap one from alliexpress will do. I had problems with scanning, since I got the illuminator, the problem became rare. Just search Alliexpress for IR illuminator for VR platforms. I can even play in a complete dark now.
Nice to see Push remembering PSVR exists between the sale and adapter. Reminds me of the good old days of a year and a half ago.
Also funny that Push is now the go-to PC gaming mag.
I pre-ordered the adapter a week and a half ago from my local GameStop in Canada. Never arrived and they have no idea when they will get them. No local stores or even Amazon Canada have it. Very elusive thing to find.
@Neilypoos I also get the black screen. If you follow the onscreen instructions and put the sense controller on the floor when you are on the floor height step you'll get a decent basic play area.
Some report that if you try every USB port on your computer, you'll eventually find one that works. I'm fine with the basic play area for the moment so I haven't tried this.
Sony your repeating the sam old mistakes... didnt you start the preorder email invitation thing for the ps5 so scalpers and bots could buy up the whole supply? yes you did.. and it partially worked. Why you didnt do the same thing here idk... because im sure 90 percent of your stock was bought by aholes with bots who are now reselling on ebay on ripping off your customers... i hate u sony
With some graphic cards (Nvidia 2000 series, more recent AMD cards) with USB-C port, you don‘t need the adapter:
https://youtu.be/hHFp_yoHqC0?si=GQ-TaZWvhX0BIVza
@Max_the_German That's a "dead" port. The Nvidia 2000's (i.e. the "current cards back before the PS5 launched), and some AMD's from the same era had the port. Newer cards do not as the Virtual Link standard was never adopted and was abandoned after the PS5 implemented it. Anyone that has it, though, can use it.
Will u be able to run this on MacBook Air m2 with the parallels window software?
@Styledvinny79 No you need to plug in via displayport or virtuallink
@VaultGuy415 can you not use a usb c (display) to display port for the adapter? Otherwise I’ve bought an adapter and cannot use it arrives tomorrow 🤣
For anybody’s info as the GPU requirements just mention Nvidia and AMD GPUs, my PSVR2 and PC Adaptor work brilliantly on an Intel NUC 12 Enthusiast which has the Intel Arc A770m 16GB GPU. Bluetooth has no issues and performance with Half-Life Alyx is excellent.
Asking for a friend... Say if i just want to use it to watch VR "videos" and not play VR games do I still need a beefy rig? Surly not.
This seems like a complete hassle and from what I hear it's pretty buggy/shoddy. I guess it was too much to hope for for it to just plug into the USB port and play like on PS5.
@Styledvinny79 My understanding is that won't work
I have the Valve Index and Quest 3 Headsets for PCVR. I've read Articles saying this thing supposedly has a lot of issues and tbh €60 for an adapter does seem really cheap.
Will work without a display port, just need DisplayPort - USBC cable/adaptor.

@RubyCarbuncle it definitely needs a patch or two. I’ve got it up and running, but have tried two different Bluetooth set ups and the controllers are not agreeing with much even though one of the Bluetooth links I’m using is a supposedly approved by Sony one.
Super clear and beautiful image, but navigation is a bit wonky.
Managed to play some Subnautica, and Red Dead 2 (w Luke Ross Mod) last night. Red Dead is awesome in VR. It’s an absolute shame we likely would never get an official version.
Probably I'm not a typical gamer but the Sony's move to offer the adapter may cause some loss of PS5 VR users. I'm one of them. Today I bought a Gaming PC. I'm intersted mostly in VR stuff and I can see myself getting rid of ps5 console just because there is lack of exlusive VR titles. I may even get rid of psvr2 hardware - initially I got the Sony VR stuff because it was a cheaper alternative to VR gaming. But now I decided to get a decent gaming PC and the Steam VR world that requires a decent gaming pc is open to me.
Getting PSVR2 up and running with ps5 was a breeze. As for the PSVR2 PC adapter, more than one hour is gone and I still can't run a game in Steam. I'm sure my pc meets the reguirements. What a joke.
