If you're using your bullpen to warm up pitchers, you may be wondering what the Stretch and Toss option does.

In essence, you can think of this as a lighter approach to warming up. Players will still prepare, but they won't exert as much energy, preserving their overall energy.

It can be a good option if you're not sure how a game's going to develop so you want to keep your options open or if you don't want to over-exert a player before putting them in the game.

It really depends on your strategy, but you'll probably want to start thinking about warming up pitchers around the end of the fourth inning, as your starting pitcher begins to tire.

You'll want your relief pitchers to be ready to come into the game, but it's best not to overwork them so they're not gassed before they come into play.

Consider having different types of pitchers warming up depending on what you have available; different circumstances require different strategies, so think tactically about your opponents batting lineup and the current trajectory of the game.

Whatever you do, don't let your pitchers get too tired. If they're out of stamina and throwing soft balls you're going to give up a lot of runs, so use your bullpen to its fullest and keep your opponent guessing.
