What Is the Story in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart?
The game's story picks up after the events of Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus. At the start of the game, Ratchet and Clank are being celebrated for their heroism with a huge parade, but it's interrupted by Dr. Nefarious, who steals the Dimensionator weapon. He intends to use it to open a portal to a world where he always wins. Ratchet and Clank are separated as they tumble through rifts in space, and Clank runs into Rivet, a new Lombax character. The pair aim to fix things while Ratchet tracks them down.
Who Is Rivet in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart?
Rivet is a brand new playable character being introduced in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. She is a female Lombax, the same species as Ratchet. Rivet is essentially Ratchet, but from an alternate reality. In her version of the world, Rivet never meets Clank or anyone like him, she has a mechanical arm, and she wields a hammer instead of a wrench.
Do You Need to Play Previous Ratchet & Clank Games to Understand the Story?
Developer Insomniac Games has said it's built the game to be a standalone story, meaning if this is your first Ratchet & Clank game, you'll still be able to enjoy it. However, Rift Apart does follow on from Into the Nexus, so there are bound to be references to previous events. You're probably safe to enjoy Rift Apart without playing any of the other games in the series, but those who've played all the mainline games will likely get a little more from the narrative.
What Weapons Will There Be in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart?
The Ratchet & Clank series is known for its imaginative arsenal of weapons, and Rift Apart will be no different. Weapons we currently know will appear in the game include:

Will Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Have Multiplayer?
While nothing has been officially confirmed or denied, it's unlikely that there will be any multiplayer modes in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The series is traditionally a single player action adventure, and Rift Apart looks to be the same.
Is There a Photo Mode in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart?
Yes, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart features a full Photo Mode. Similar to the one found in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the Photo Mode will let you place and adjust your own light sources, change character expressions and poses, apply stickers, and change the character's outfit. This is in addition to all the usual Photo Mode functionality, like camera and shutter adjustments, frames, and filters.
Is There a Day One Patch for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart?
Nothing has been officially said about a day one patch for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. However, we would be very surprised if there's not an update to download on launch day. We would expect there to be a day one patch.

When does the review embargo end Stephen?
I love the look of this, like everyone else, I just hope there's a dash of next gen gameplay.
All pretty is not enough anymore for me.
Don't forget €80 (digital in the store)
Looking forward to the review ...
I wanna know if the "rifts" are gonna be freely available to use, from whenever you get the equipment to use it, or if its gonna be "set pieces". Gotta cross a bridge? Rift. Gotta beat a boss a certain way? Rift. Gotta progress the story? Rift. Also if there are different zones through these rifts.
Not long now.
My birthday's the 28th of May and I've given plenty of hints.
A pair of slippers and a Simpson's mug it is then !
Hang on, no 60fps at 4k?
The idea of Pre order armour and weapon sets has never really landed with me, especially if the armour is also available in the main game. If it’s an aesthetic thing fair enough but there’s something about starting with better weapons and armour that takes the fun out of the game a bit for me. I want to discover this stuff for myself and feel the struggle and earn the reward. Similarly games that give you some kind of free in-game currency or experience / skill points as a reward for preordering is baffling to me.
Anyway, I digress, I am super psyched for this game and am on the cusp of pre ordering... (not for the armour, honest 😉)
What's the meaning of life?
@Ward_ting I'm a little worried this game has been over-hyped. I've fallen too many times for the trickle of information to think you it's going to be a great game (and to make sure you click on articles) and after the embargo is lifted it gets some (well deserved) mediocre score. No thanks.
@DarthKiwi ...and so it begins
@Quintumply Same question as @Zombie9ers, can you tell us when the review embargo will end?
@DarthKiwi
Will probably be the same modes as Spiderman MM.
@blinx01 There's no mention of a "Performance RT" mode yet but it could be added post launch just like Spider-man MM.
@riccyb0y
Yeah, fingers crossed anyway!
i start to wonder why i bought a ps5 if the games are not 4k 60fps...
@blinx01 Ok thanks
The one thing im 100% sure of :
im not going to play trough this game at 30fps.
Hoping for similar settings as the Spider-man PS5 versions offered.
