The Slums is the fourth chapter in Stray, taking place after you beat The Flat, and is much larger than previous chapters. It's a fairly sizeable sandbox environment you can explore to your heart's content. As part of our Stray guide, we have a full walkthrough of The Slums, explaining how to get through the chapter's main path. If you're looking for collectibles in The Slums, see our guide: Stray: All Collectibles Locations.
Stray: The Slums Part 1 Walkthrough
Here's our full Stray The Slums walkthrough.
Walk through the alleyways until you reach a cutscene. There's only one path you can take. After the cutscene, you will meet Guardian. All the robots think you are a Zurk and therefore a threat, but Guardian realises you aren't. After another cutscene, the alarms are disabled and the city will be open to you.
First, show Guardian the postcard in your inventory. You're instructed to find Momo, who may know how to escape the city.
How to Reach Momo
From Guardian, turn back around and you'll see a dumpster near a sign for Super Spirit. Use this to climb up and to the left and you'll get on the roof. Around the corner are two robots throwing paint cans across the rooftops. Just past the lower robot, you can get across to the other using signs. Up here, take a left and use the air conditioning unit to get up to a balcony. Hop into a small window to start a cutscene.
Talk to Momo and show him the postcard. He'll tell of his Outsider allies who attempted to leave the city but have lost contact. He will give you his Notebook and tell you the other three Outsiders also had Notebooks. Your next step is finding these Notebooks.
Where to Find All the Notebooks
Go back through the window and B-12 will point out the Outsider symbol on a building across the way. Use the bucket to get down, then turn right and get across the rooftops. A pipe will take you to this building with the symbol. Jump inside, go through the sliding door, and turn left. At the end of the room is a computer with Clementine's Notebook on it.
Leave the way you came in. Over to the right is a taller building with another Outsider symbol visible. To get there, walk back along the pipe to the rooftops you were on earlier. Walk past the paint-throwing robots and over to the next building. On the rooftop, take the power unit out to stop the fan from spinning. Drop inside and you'll see some stacks of boxes. Jump onto them and off again and they'll topple over, revealing Zbaltazar's Notebook. Leave by scratching at a blind to open it and hop through the window.
For the final Notebook, walk by the paint-throwing bots once more to see one more Outsider symbol in the distance. Walk by the napping robot, crossing over to the next rooftop. Jump to the balcony and go through the small gap into a library. Head forward and then to the right to see a load of books stacked up. Topple them to reveal a small room. Inside, translate the note on the bed. You'll receive the keys to a safe. Leave the small room and turn left, then right. You should see more book stacks. Topple these to reveal the safe. Open it with the key to find Doc's Notebook.
Return to Momo
The next step is to return to Momo and show him the Notebooks. However, once you enter his house again, you cannot go back — you'll be forced to move to the next chapter. If you want to explore and find collectibles before you move on, do this before returning to Momo.
When you're ready, return to Momo's place and show him all three Notebooks. He'll figure out how to fix the Transceiver. After a cutscene, talk to Momo again and you'll get the Transceiver, with the new mission of installing it on a high antenna. Jump through the window.
