How long do you play as Abby in The Last of Us 2? One of the more controversial aspects of the game's campaign is that you'll switch from controlling Ellie to controlling Abby mid-way through. Considering her role in the plot, some fans are dissatisfied with this decision. However, it's a crucial component of the story as it enables you to see an alternate point of view. As part of our The Last of Us 2 guide, we're going to reveal how long you play as Abby.
The Last of Us 2: How Long Do You Play As Abby?
You can view a full chapter breakdown for The Last of Us 2 in our guide: The Last of Us 2: How Many Chapters Are There? The campaign is mirrored across three full days; you'll also play as Abby briefly in the Jackson and Santa Barbara acts. However, the main part of her story spans the second set of Seattle Day 1, Seattle Day 2, and Seattle Day 3 acts.
As we explained in our The Last of Us 2: How Long Does It Take to Beat? guide, the duration of the campaign will depend upon which difficulty you select (See Also: The Last of Us 2: What Difficulty Should You Select?) and how you approach the action. Stealthier players on a high difficulty will take longer than aggressive players on a low difficulty. That said, you can expect to be playing through Abby's portion of the campaign for approximately 10 to 15 hours.

Yeah, this was really really bad! The game builds up hate against this character and you strive for hours to find her, only to be forced to play as her!? For hours! I had to take a looong break from the game due to this. Anticlimatic to say the least.
The exitement held me nailed to the game, playing as Ellie, you know, the one pictured on the sleeve of the game cover, then this u-turn. Ouch!
Man I don't want to play as this bitch! Kill off Joel then force you to play as his killer! That's weak bro
I actually find Abbys half of the game more interesting and entertaining than ellies, I like Abby and Levs dynamic.
This is so lame. Returning this game after finishing it. Too many lame things like this, is this an 80s trope game? Enjoyed it overall (up until switching to Abby), but playing the antagonist is just stupid, just like the game "light mist". If I could let her die that would be great, or skip the Abby section and just finish with half the story, no problem. Anyone could figure out who she is more or less from the beginning, frankly, don't care at all. Now I have to play as her for 10 hours? Ridiculous.
Too many scenes of Ellie being stupid and not doing what needs to be done, giving her enemies time to get the jump on her as well.
Actually I found Joel's death tragic, now we have to play as ellie, I hated her in the first game, then to top it off you play abby, not much better then ellie. If anything, this game should have 2 playthroughs, 1 choose ellie, then finish the game, then can play as abby, then finish the game, two different story lines and perspectives each to completion.
Man I wish for Days Gone 2.
By all, Happy New Year
