Drinkbox Studios’ brilliant Guacamelee! has proven that it’s hotter than chilli con carne, topping the PlayStation Network sales charts in both Europe and North America for the month of April. The side-scrolling brawler fought off a cavalcade of heavy-hitters in each region, including the likes of Terraria, Tomb Raider, and old favourite Journey.
In fact, so impressive was Juan Aguacate's crusade, that the luchador conquered the charts on both the PlayStation 3 and Vita, with European blog manager Fred Dutton noting that the title performed better on the platform holder’s handheld by a “significant margin”. Seeing as the game supports cross-buy, we’re not quite sure how the company's calculating that data, but it at least bodes well for the portable.
Elsewhere, the moreish Soul Sacrifice got off to a decent start on the Vita charts in both regions, while the Resident Evil trilogy leapfrogged Final Fantasy VII to the summit of the North American PSone Classics list. PLayed a bit of the game in my friend's PS3 is really awesome it doesn't suprise me that it took the #1 spot.
The only thing I got this month is Ratchet and Clank Full Frontal Assault.
For the fact I love Ratchet and Clank, competitive multiplayer and Tower Defense and every owner of digital or retail copy of the game is going to get for free Ratchet and Clank Deadlocked so after that PS All Star sale it was my best chance to get it.
Last month I bought Persona 4 Arena using the credit I got back in March (but I had to add $10). This month I bought Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen for my Vita; I don't care what reviews say, this game is absolutely addicting and awesome!
I can't wait for Lego Chima and Muramasa Rebirth
Tomb Raider is terrific.
Also Resident Evil 4 just keeps selling and selling. It doesn't matter how old it is or what platform it's on.
Nice to see. Guacamelee is one of my favorite releases this year just behind Tomb Raider, Bioshock: Infinite and Injustice. April was pretty solid for digital releases. Also bought Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon which is another great game.
