Gran Turismo 6 will ship with a vast array of physics improvements over its processor, but that’s not the only enhancement that it will launch alongside. Polyphony Digital has been busy building some brand new tracks for the title – and among those fresh additions is the Goodwood Hill Climb course.
Central to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the track – set upon the, er, Goodwood estate in West Sussex, England – apparently attracts over 185,000 people a year. Honestly, we’re never heard of it. Still, apparently the celebration sees dozens of racing stars competing for the best times in a slew of high-performance rides.
“[Series creator] Kazunori Yamauchi feels a great affection for the Goodwood Festival of Speed,” explained brand manager Penrose Tackie on the PlayStation Blog. “Its setting, in front of the beautiful old home of British aristocrats, is pretty quirky and very special, but it is really the variety and range of all things automotive on display that appeals.”
A unique demo of Gran Turismo 6 will be available at the show this weekend, allowing attendees to compete for a place in the final of the GT Academy competition. This teaser will include the Goodwood Hill Climb course, but there are no plans to release it to the public. You can learn a little more about the new track through here.

I can't believe you guys have never heard of the Goodwood festival of speed or the hill climb race. It's a massive event where former f1 stars and other pro racing drivers race a time trial style hill climb. It's on TV every year. It's a nice addition to the track list. I'm impressed. I hope GT makes it to PS4. I swore the last of us would be my final PS3 purchase.
@chazaroonie I've genuinely never, ever heard of it. Seems like this is a big coup for the game, though.
@get2sammyb I would agree that it's a big coup, its nice to see more British tracks, reminds me of the old TOCA games. Polyphony just need to sort out the damage modelling and we have the perfect driving sim.
Yes, but does it have Bathurst?!
@Imagremlin good eye lol.
Cool idea tho; an uphill battle against gravity itself might be the best way to demo said new physics. I so love Polyphony Digital.
