Though its constant delays may lead you to believe otherwise, Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster is a real game that actually exists and will be available for purchase in the near future. Assuming that you're not willing to take our word for it – and really, who could blame you? – Kotaku has posted a short video demonstrating just how much better the updated edition looks on the PlayStation 3. Overall, the graphics appear much sharper and clearer, and the colour palette really pops. What's more, you can now see every tiny little angst-ridden detail on the faces of the acclaimed RPG's memorable cast of characters.
But as we all know, modern Final Fantasy games are almost exclusively about the hair. From Tidus' fashionable mop to Lightning's strawberry blonde side fringe, the franchise truly runs the gamut when it comes to perfectly styled manes. With that said, we're absolutely thrilled to report that the upcoming HD upgrade definitely upholds the series' prodigious pedigree for follicle finesse. Will you be dropping aeons of your spare time into this enhanced re-release, or do you think that it looks like Sin? Drink an X-potion in the comments section below.

Amazing.

Anyway I am still undecided if I go for Vita or PS3. The collectors edition is PS3 only and goes for ~45 euros while the core game goes for ~40 euros. I obviously want both. The PS3 version for collecting reasons and the Vita one to play it. Both of them look like FF machines and I like it since it is one of my favourite series. However I want to save money because I preordered a PS4 so I may end up not buying it on release or go Vita only.
@belmont @get2sammyb Stop it, you're making me blush!
As far as which version I'll be buying, It has to be Vita. I'm just going to go ahead and assume that they won't release the special edition down here (they rarely do), which means I won't have that temptation to worry about. Really, JRPG's work best on handhelds for me, as for most people. I find it super hard to commit to 40+ hours of couch time just for one game.
This video makes me realize how good PS2 graphics were 12 years ago.
I mean, compare FFX graphics to games that came out 12 years before it on the Genesis and SNES and 12 years after it on the PS4 and X1. I thinks it's obvious were the greatest difference is. The PS2 really did set the stage for modern gaming. I just wish it hadn't killed the Dreamcast in the process.
Im going all vita for this game hopefully we get ff12 hd for ps vita/ps3 this year.
Not a fan of the franchise but I'll probably give it a go on the vita at some point, maybe it will be free by Christmas.
@RyoHazuki FF?!?!?
Ahem. Yeah I'll have to make room on my memory card for this. Too perfect, like having MGS1, 2, 3, and PW on the same portable machine. (P.s. Happy MLK Day, y'all!)
@tonyp1987 is that real? Or...!!?!??,??!???!
@charlesnarles the people that made final fantasy said that if this hd collection(ffx/ffx-2) does really good then they would do a ff12 hd update too!!!!!!
@charlesnarles I tried vii way back when and then nothing until xiii which I thought was awful.
My friend gonna be jealous on my Vita and PS3 IN March.
@rjejr Sega killed the dreamcast because they failed 3 consoles in a row. Sony PS2 had as much hype as the PS4. Still, i think you have a point... Thanks to the enormous succes of the PS2 the dreamcast failed./
I almost feel like a writer or two here have a thing for hair. Lara Croft hair physics analysis and then this little tidbit might make one think I kid, though it could just be Square Enix, as they're the ones working so hard. The game may be in 720/1080p, but you can bet that the hair is going to be a sharp 4k lol.
@RyoHazuki then you'll really like 10 with good graphics. I got 13 launch week and returned it lol been wanting to retry it but not enough to actually do it. 7 and 8 are kinda counterintuitive but 9 is easier and fun. 10 has a great cast and story, can't wait to get my mitts on it
@tonyp1987 that's amazing news! 10 and 12 both really hold special places in my heart. Wow can't wait to get fired for walking around playing both those two all day on my Vita. It's gonna be insane if they get Now working how they want
@charlesnarles im more old fashion I would rather own the game then rent it or a monthly service because I can collect them and have my game room lol. But I want rogue galaxy on my vita that was a hidden gem imo.
@Sanquine - "Sega killed the dreamcast because they failed 3 consoles in a row."
Sega killed the Dreamcast b/c of rampant piracy, and a lot of people were blown away by the PS2 graphics and decided to hold off the for the PS2.
Sega stopped making home consoles after the Dreamcast b/c it was their 3rd home console failure in a row ad they were out of money. But had the Dreamcast been a sales success they wouldn't have canceled it. And I think it would have been a sales success if Sony decided after the PS1 not to make the PS2.
Gotta be on the vita for me. Blitzball whilst commuting is enough to sell it for me seriously though, its been so long since I played FFX then it will be great to rediscover spira.
They did nothing! HD remake my butt lol
@Sanquine @rjejr Sony killed Sega. Dreamcast is still my favourite console though. Its just a shame Sega gave up. If only they had sold two copies of shenmue to every dreamcast owner, nevermind.
@rjejr @Sanquine Microsoft killed the Dreamcast not Sony or piracy. Go and read the story of the Dreamcast. It's a fascinating although sad story. Sony just found a dying console. It was Microsoft's manipulations and "delays" of the Windows CE updates (among other things) that ultimately killed the Dreamcast. Of course Microsoft being the company that is, took all the know-how that they learned form their collaboration with Sega and made... you guessed it the first XBox. To put it in plain words it was the typical MS strategy, send a CEO, make all the wrong calls, recall CEO destroy or buy the opposing company or leave CEO there and take over the company. Amiga, Sega, Nokia, EA and recently Nintendo are a few of MS' victims. Why do you think EA is not making any games for the Vita and the WiiU (No it's not the sales) and treats MS more favourably?
