Ever since its announcement approximately 18 months ago, Evolution Studios has pitched DriveClub as an ever evolving package, rather than a traditional game. Now, less than four weeks away from release, the Runcorn-based developer has outlined the title’s post-launch content schedule – and it’s pretty impressive to see.
Firstly, you’ll be getting tons of free stuff purely for owning the game. As promised, weather will be implemented this year, while a photo mode is also in the works. Moreover, from November until February, you’ll get at least one new track per month completely gratis, with a complimentary car each month until at least June as well.
And that’s not all. The MotorStorm maker is also planning a bunch of premium add-ons, including car drops, mini campaigns, and livery packs. If you purchase the game’s Season Pass for $24.99, you’ll receive one expansion each month, which will also include new Trophies for you to unlock. That’s a lot of stuff.
“Evolution Studios will be going all out to keep the game fresh and exciting for all of you,” an enthusiastic Jamie Brayshaw explained on the PlayStation Blog. Are you looking forward to all of these extra goodies? Hit the gas in the comments section below.

I prefer what Project Cars are doing. The game is yours, so you can drive anything on any track from day one. All this monetized content is starting to get very frustrating, even though they are trying to balance it with free stuff.
The game is free with PS+, complete with Platinum trophy, with no extra expense whatsoever.
They're giving you a ton of free stuff over several months.
And still people complain about an entirely optional Season Pass.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not a fan of season passes either. I haven't bought them for The Last Of Us (which I love) or Battlefield 4 (which I only play occasionally). But I have no problem with what Evolution are doing here. I think some people are just becoming allergic to paying for anything, ever... at all.
And if I'm honest, to me this is looking better than Project Cars anyway.
Its good to see the new tracks will all be pretty much free which should benefit the game online. GG did the same with Killzone by giving the maps away free, and it helps to stop your community from being segregated
@Paranoimia complaints about optional DLC is always a tickler. Its not like they have to buy it to enjoy the game as the important aspect of new tracks looks to be included free of charge
Sounds good to me. Will prob pick up full physical copy around Christmas.
Good luck with the free demo.....http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=4&ved=0CCkQFjAD&url=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.eu.playstation.com%2F2014%2F05%2F07%2Fwhats-included-driveclub-playstation-plus-edition%2F&rct=j&q=driveclub%20free%20vs%20paid&ei=r6kRVM6VMa_y7AaE2oEY&usg=AFQjCNH4bPjsrUjnW7oPVxzWVEXxBw8nuQ&sig2=J_BxoEzEPPOzt5tNOdnRdw&bvm=bv.74894050,d.ZGU
My point is that some devs appreciate their fan base, and some are content to charge for a disc locked car or track. Of which there will be many. Joining friends who bought the full game plus extras will require you to open your wallet, a lot....Remember when DICE said they'd never charge for maps so everyone could play on them?
Hello, Premium!
I've preordered both, but I'm willing to bet that Project Cars will be the game that makes me forget about a 30fps pretender.
Sounds like a really great roadmap for post-launch content imo.
Would pick it up if I had a PS4.
@MadchesterManc What it comes down to is they don't want to see success. There are people that complain about getting free stuff, I mean, I was completely dumb founded after witnessing myself. What it comes down to is to ignore those types of people. If a game is getting a bunch of stuff and those people complain, ignore them, they mean absolutely nothing and it's nothing more than trying to damper a game that could be really awesome.
I like racing games, but I hate F1 cars, I don't like those cars and that racing is just flat out boring to me compared to other racing vehicles. Project cars is a no go. I don't understand this odd dislike for driveclub and I can't help but think there is some agenda to it and it's not 30fps which is easily used in an argument as a cover up. 30fps and people didn't complain until they saw the numbers, that is what interest me. psychological? very much so. People like forza but dislike driveclub and when argued they only post the 30fps factor and it's only because they released the numbers, before that people watched the videos and thought 60fps because it's so smooth. This game has kind of called out the bs in a lot of forums.
That would be true if anybody was complaining about the freebies. Which nobody here is doing.
Not at all.
Well at least the game is gone gold now
sounds a bit weird
Am I correct in thinking if you have the PS+ game you'll only get certain free tracks & cars? Whereas if you have the full game you'll get all the free dlc?
Still, FREE!
How would it work if you didn't upgrade to the full game until, say, 6 months later. Would you be able to download all the free DLC that has passed?
Looks good for a free game to tide me over til project cars comes my way. Touring cars all the way. Was really looking foward to drive club hoping it was going to be a close fight. But the more I see of it the less I care
This is pretty exciting for me. I have been waiting for something like this. I don't enjoy racing games, but my four year old son loves them. I will download for free and he and I can race together. He gets to play for half an hour a day and there is a limited selection on the ps4 that my wife and I find appropriate for him. I had the burnout paradise demo on my ps3 and he loved it, this won't be quite the same but still fun.
@Paranoimia Exactly! I also think people like to complain just to complain. You are getting a lot more with DriveClub's season pass than you do with most season passes.
@Paranoimia I agree with you there. I will grab the free copy for sure, but I think it's only natural if they (Sony) want a extra source of revenue from a season pass.
As long as there's not only 1 car and 2 tracks in the free version, what's the prob?
I dont mind paying for DLC as long as its adding to my play time with something new. What I want to know about is will NA get the special edition of DriveClub like the one coming to UK???
Will this game have any music? Seems like all the trailers and gameplay I've watched have just been pure sounds of racing with no background music whatsoever. I know this is supposed to be more realistic than something like NFS but I'd appreciate if there were an option to have music playing while racing. Better yet allow us to make our own playlist using our own music! That'd be sweet!
On topic, the DLC is fine with me because it actually adds to the experience and there seems to be a lot of content included in the game even without the DLC.
Still a better deal than Forza DLC
@Demi_God Agree mate, it's getting beyond ridiculous. People would have you believe that any game at 30fps is bad but I'd rather have a game locked at 30 then one that has 60 but loses frames suddenly. People have threw similar arguments about The Order too even knocking it's style of gameplay even though they've yet to play it.
@Incrediblebraig I believe all the free DLC will be available for the Plus version too but I can't be sure.
Really lookin forward to this one. Had ps4 a while now and still only nfs rivals to satisy my driving game needs.and its not great
@JasonBeckerFan lmao - I hope you will be ready to laugh at your comment of "30fps pretender" because as of right this second - Drive Club is looking like the prettiest driving game ever. And with all that special attention to detail - I will be oh so more humble if the driving aspect doesn't mirror the detail put into the graphics. I do look forward to playing them both!
@AD-80 Destiny looks like one of the prettiest shooters ever, but that doesn't cover the bigger issues. Will I care about beautifully rendered trees when hurtling into a corner at 120mph, only to find they sacrificed physics and handling to make it look better? Definitely not.
We've learned a lot recently about style over substance in the gaming market. A driving game needs to be a driving game. I personally think Project Cars will appeal to me more for this reason. As I said, I've preordered both and I have no reservations about giving DriveClub some attention, I just feel it will not be as competent a racer.
