It’s all well and good changing the colour of your PlayStation 4’s background, but what if you want a completely different theme entirely. PS4 firmware update v2.00 introduces dynamic themes, and you can use these to give your entire console an all-new look. Please note: the availability of themes will vary depending on region.
1. Go to Settings
From the PS4’s home screen, push up to reach the top layer of the system’s menu, and select the toolbox labelled ‘Settings’ to the far right.
2. Enter the Themes submenu
Scroll down the list of options that appear until you reach ‘Themes’, and select it.
3. Find new themes in the PlayStation Store
You should see a list of themes that you currently have installed, as well as an option to ‘Find in PlayStation Store’. Select this, and, assuming that themes are available in your region, you’ll be taken to the PlayStation Store, where you’ll be presented with a list of premium and complimentary themes. To download these, simply follow the steps that you ordinarily would when downloading or purchasing an item from the PlayStation Store. When it’s installed, return to the ‘Themes’ submenu in the ‘Settings’ area to enable it.

I downloaded the update and selected the yellow BG (no option to buy themes sadly) and now my PS4 won't start xD
@AyeHaley Uh-oh. There have been some reports regarding this firmware update causing hardware problems, but they don't appear to be too widespread yet. Have you tried unplugging it and starting again?
@get2sammyb ugh!!! I was afraid of that happening!! Won't start mines up til later tonight! *fingers crossed!
All I get is colour options. No find in playstation store option
should i be afraid of updating ???? if i brick my ps4 i swear il friggin lose it
Downloaded update, went to settings, themes, buy from ps store, then a message saying that option is not available
The red color looks so good
I love this new update. I hope that Sony will one day release an app that allow users to create and share their own themes for both the ps4 and Ps Vita similar to the Little big planet "create and share" levels. This would be awesome.
I dont have the option to buy more themes...Is that normal for Belgium or the Netherlands?
Oh and my PS4 got stuck in Rest mode after updating...I had to hard reset (my heart was racing)...I don't like doing something drastic like that.
Yeah..No more standby for now I'll stick to shutting it off entirely,
@soracloud28 I don't even get that option. :/
@thahammerman333 Yes that red looks smexy
agreed the red is fantastic, amazing how drastic a color change can be
Red at the moment. Hoping some "free" themes come to the store soon to try out. No additional themes were available in Australia as of last night. Assume they will come, like everything else eventually.
Changed mine then put it right back to the classic Blue screen.
there is no option that takes you to the store?
i put the grey colour on, it matches my current mood, angry and miserable.
where the hell is the themes sony promised, where the hell is my free driveclub.
still no themes for me.in england.anyone in england able to get themes.im at work 2-10pm so im hoping there available by time i finish??? or is this just a big mess up again
please watch the language -Tasuki-
@fozzie-mpd i cant belive driveclub still has not been updated.im begining to get impacient with it now.as its constantly losing connection online lol
Spiral theme is rather nice but the Paper Sculpture one is my favourite so far. I like that the themes also come with new sound effects too, nice little touch. Just need some on the European store now or we going to do what we did with the Vita, Sony? Give us a basic few palette swaps and then think that's enough.
Oh, if anyone wants themes just create a second account and make it Japanese. Go to the themes section in settings and download them all (only one needs payment) and then switch to your main account and the themes are still there. Takes a few minutes but there you go.
@mikey85 still don't see the option yet... In UK as well.
