We’re teetering on the precipice of gameageddon. Our super secret review document is filled with titles, reviewers have been assigned, and Push Square Towers is awash with complaints regarding the length of certain releases. Anybody would think that we’d entered the third circle of Hell or something. Still, with such animation behind the scenes, it means that there’s plenty to talk about in this week’s WAYP. Let’s get started, shall we?

I’ll be spending my weekend on all fours, desperately trying to avoid an extraterrestrial with an overripe banana for a head. Alien: Isolation arrived late this week, but I’m putting myself through prolonged sessions of terror in order to bring you a review. The things that we do...
Robert Ramsey, Associate Editor
I’ll keep this one quick: Destiny's weekend gear guy has an exotic Titan helmet for 13 strange coins, and I have 12. Be kind to me, utterly random and stupid loot system.
Ben Potter, Video Editor
This weekend, I'm finally going to return to everyone's favourite video game location, Seattle, courtesy of inFAMOUS: Second Son's prequel, inFAMOUS: First Light. Now, I'm unsure whether I'm going to enjoy it quite as much as I did the full-blooded release [The combat’s better – Ed], but as soon as editor Sammy informed me that the Platinum went down easier than a slice of neon pie [What? – Ed], then my mind was made up – I had to add it to my collection.

As this week marks the beginning of the game release silly season, this weekend will be spent either driving along the sunny coast of Southern Europe in Forza Horizon 2 [Does not compute – Ed], or battling some downright ugly Orcs in Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor.
Edwin Garcia, Reviewer
About a month after its glorious launch, I’m still playing Destiny. Yes, I know, everyone seems to think that it’s boring [It is! – Ed], but I’m 92 hours in and am planning on finally completing the Vault of Glass. I might sneak in some Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Super Smash Bros. time, too, since those are the hip games to be playing right now.
Graham Banas, Reviewer
After having played some Destiny and some NHL 15 quite a lot over the past couple weeks, and leaving surprisingly unsatisfied, I'm really hoping that the one-two punch of DriveClub and Alien: Isolation have it in them to right that wrong. If they do, it's going to be one Hell of a week!
Jamie O’Neill, Reviewer
I've an appetite for old school 1990s hack-and-slash games recently – especially with a key retro title in the fantasy brawling genre arriving free on PlayStation Plus next week – so I’ll boot up my PlayStation 2 to revisit The King of Dragons on Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2.
Simon Fitzgerald, Reviewer
This weekend, I will be driving around my remote control car in an attempt to hack my way through Watch Dogs: Bad Blood. Other than that, I will be playing a few different games: Destiny, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, Battlefield 4, and Child of Light.
That’s us, but what are you playing this weekend? Are you still hooked on Destiny, or have you moved on to bigger (and better) things? Air your agenda in the comments section below.

I was planing on playing the Dragon Ball Xenoverse Beta but something went wrong and it's not working Bandai Namco are trying to fix it but nothing yet
EDIT: Bandai Namco fixed it and I have to say, I've never had so much fun on a DBZ game for a long time now and if the Beta is anything to go by this could be the best DBZ game EVER!
I'm going to play ssb4 on my 3ds and probably some of the indies I bought in the sale from a week ago on my ps4.
The last of us remastered! For some reason I have become very addicted to online play. I would like to be playing middle earth shadow of mordor thou but can't afford it yet until next week
I'm in a good spot finally playing Ni No kuni on the PS3 and replaying Zelda Ocarina of Time on the 3DS.
On my PS4 I'll be continuing my 2nd play through of TLOU Remastered. I want to get Shadow Of Mordor, I've hheard great things about that game. But I'm stingy with my money so probably won't get it until its on sale.
Shadow of Mordor, brilliant game thus far.
So much to do and a nice break from the repeating missions of Destiny.
Was psyched for Alien but it doesn't seem so great from reviews etc.
@crazykcarter I'm about an hour into Valient Hearts, it's a beautiful game.
I'm trying to get the Invective exotic shotgun via an exotic bounty...I need a kill/death spread of 25 in the Crucible and I suck at it so I'll be hitting destiny a bit. I'll also be playing Valiant Hearts as too much Destiny puts me in need of playing a game that knows how to tell a story.
I feel like a broken record on these posts, but I'm still playing Fallout 3 (going for Platinum when I beat it) and a little Diablo on the side.
@Dohv I don't know why I like the last of us really as it always takes so long load lol
@crazykcarter I love the smaller indie titles. For me it's where the magic in gaming happens...the risks and the innovation. So far Valiant Hearts is right there on my list of favourites with titles like Thomas was Alone, Braid and Journey. I've not got to needing door codes yet so I'll look forward to that lol
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya I can't wait to get shadow of mordor it looks epic and I don't own destiny but alot of people say it's very repetitive
Going back to finish Wolfenstein, and tie up some loose ends in AC 4. Clear up that old backlog before I get Shadow of Mordor, and Dragon Age.
PS4: Shadow of Mordor
Wii U: Hyrule Warriors
X1: (nothing)
Vita: Natural Doctrine
3DS: Super Smash Bros..........Bravely Default
Wow, what a weekend! Some fine games across the board, except for, well, the ole Xbox of course.
Wario Land 2 (3DS VC) - Already beat the game a while ago, but I've been playing it here and there getting all the secret exits and treasures. Probably gonna finish it up today.
Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii) - Replaying the game, aiming for 100%.
If I get the new Smash Bros. this weekend, I'll also be playing that.
@JaxonH
I disagree good Sir. Forza Horizon 2 is an excellent game and in fact is the only one I'm playing this weekend. But to each their own.
@Dohv
If you're a Lord of the Rings fans you probably can't go wrong with Shadow of Mordor. My friends have been raving about it.
@Gamer83
Not into racing SIMs, like, at all. I was referring to games that I was personally playing this weekend. And I am not playing Forza.
Interestingly enough, I just commented on the Pure Xbox article for Forza. I was curious as to what this new game is compared to the one that released back at launch. That one was Forza 5 and now Forza 2 releases? Seems kind of strange to me. What's the difference between the two games
@JaxonH
Motorsport is more of a sim racer (although I'd argue compared to GT it really doesn't get the sim aspect down) Horizon is the open world, arcade subseries. It's closer to something like Burnout Paradise or Test Drive Unlimited. The demo is pretty substantial if you ever were interested enough to check it out. This game definitely isn't a sim racer though.
This week I'm not gonna be doing much gaming. Just started watching Arrow yesterday on Netflix and I see why people like the series.
And I don know why but for some weird reason I'm addicted to some of these moble games lately like Dead Trigger 2 and Blitz Brigade. So it'll be moble gaming for me this weekend I guess. Lol
Mass effect on ps3. Cant believe how dfferent it feels after playing ME2 and 3. Still fun though
Gonna take MGS: Portable Ops with me to the foggy ol' beach tomorrow.
Destiny, Shadow of Mordor and a little FIFA.
@ztpayne7 Don't feel bad my friend as Fallout 3 is an amazing game and well worth the 100+ hours for that platinum trophy. I maxed it on the XBOX 360 but I also have the Game of the Year version for PS3 and one day that platinum trophy will be mine.
@J_PLAYA-_- Yeah but its worth the wait and once your all loaded in its not a problem.
@XFsWorld - Fair warning - 1st season of Arrow is one of the best seasons of a tv show Ive ever scene, then I dont know what happened but its just a mess. A few mid season episodes are really hard to watch.
Hyrule Warriors and Skylanders Swap Force. Yeah I know thats last years game but I just got the 8th swap type today.
I was playing Star Ocean Till The End Of Time on my ps2, then Shadow Of Mordor came out. Not putting it down, good fun.
@get2sammyb
Any time frame of when the review'll be up (for Alien)?
It comes out in around a couple days here - by then or after then?
i pray everyday for another Fallout announcement. im actally going to pick something random and i should be buying Legend of Valkyrie soon
Well its that time of the year. A few of us on Nintendolife started a yearly tradition where every October we play some retro horror type games
http://www.nintendolife.com/forums/retro/the_haunted_house_of_spooky_and_scary_retro_classics?start=200
I started last night with Castlevania Bloodlines on the Genesis. Hopefully I will finish that one up tonight and then begin on its sequel Portrait of Ruin on the DS.
I just scooped up the valve complete collection on steam, so lots of left for r dead and counter strike. Also I am replaying GTA San Andreas in preparation of the ps4 release of GTA V.
I recently completed Transformers: Fall of Cybertron (PS3), so now I'm back to playing Prototype (PS3).
Playing metro redux , very good game so far , loads better than boring destiny
What beautiful shadow mordor this weekend
Vita I play danganronpa2 and Neptune's rebirth
@Tasuki I read that as Lone Survivor
A great retro horror game for sure
@RaymanFan2 Tomorrow.
It was me. I complained about the length of the game I'm reviewing
However, I offer this as a counterargument: It's really very long! I swear!
Playing Smash Bros going for glory.
@LDXD It's ok. The strategy is different then any other SRPG I've ever played. Western reviewers nailed the game with low scores all around, but I don't think it's nearly as bad as they made it out to be. No mid battle save points, but there are checkpoints within battles.
It has a unique system where the chessboard squares make up larger squares called areas. And players in the same area can link up to increase attack damage on a common enemy. Thing is, when you defeat an enemy the units in that area rush to the area the enemy was in, whether you want them to or not. This can leave you open to get slaughtered by enemies waiting around the corner or what have you, so you really have to think about your moves and whether you want to attack or defend.
I would definitely recommend picking it up if you like SRPGs, but it's a shame you didn't preorder it through Best Buy because they had a $10 gift card offer on both Vita and PS4 versions. But yeah it's definitely no Fire Emblem, but it's still a decent SRPG for Vita. I think if you take the time to learn the ins and outs of the battle system it can be a pretty fun game.
Keep in mind most reviewers nailed it for its extreme difficulty, so I'm playing the game on easy mode. And it's pretty difficult on easy mode I think. If any of your units die it's game over, but that's no different then the permanent death of Fire Emblem. Well, actually it is because in FE you only get game over if one of your 2 main characters die, otherwise you just lose the character for the remainder of the game.
playing Diablo III and Transistor on PS4, Forza Horizon 2 on XOne
PS Home on PS3 and Second Sight on Xbox.
@FullbringIchigo I really enjoyed the central hub and all the mini gestures you are able to do. I and some complete strangers spent half an hour doing Fusion. Bandai should have included a small tutorial or a controller mapping. It took me a couple of matches to get how everything works. But yeah. It seems we have a winner on our hands.
@hadlee73 I'm really enjoying Sherlock. A very polished detective game indeed.
This weekend I've been condemning criminal individuals for murdering people in Sherlock Homes and then I went on murdering hundreds of orcs in Shadow of Mordor.
@Mr0303 yeah a tutorial was the only thing missing but like you after a few matches I had it down but to be honest I spent most of my time doing this
@FullbringIchigo True that. The Great Sayaman dance always cheers me up.
@Mr0303 yeah Great Saiyaman rules
