Remote Play, for the uninitiated, allows you to beam your PlayStation 4 to a PlayStation Vita or PlayStation TV. This means that you can play your games practically anywhere, as long as you've got a decent Internet connection. While it's always been impressive, however, it did have limitations – such as games running at 30 frames-per-second, irrespective of their native output. That's now been solved as part of PS4 firmware update v2.50.
1. Set Up Remote Play
The first thing that you'll need to do is to, obviously, set up Remote Play with your PlayStation 4. You can view our guide on that through here.
2. Open the PS4 Link App
To enable 60 frames-per-second Remote Play, first start up the PS4 Link application on your Vita or PlayStation TV as though you're beginning a normal Remote Play session.
3. Change Your Settings
Click on the '...' icon in the bottom right corner of the screen, and select 'Settings'.
4. Select Video Quality for Remote Play
In this menu, tap on the 'Video Quality for Remote Play' setting and then select 'Frame Rate'. A separate menu on the right-hand side of the screen will appear with the following options: 'Standard' and 'High'. The former will offer your usual Remote Play experience, while the latter will enable 60 frames-per-second playback.

And it works great!!
Consider for example PS4 games that have Vita versions. In remote play they looked and played like the Vita versions (I checked Dead or Alive and Injustice). After the update they play more like how they would look in a small TV. I may not be able to explain this clearly but the difference in many games in big. Apart from DOA and Injustice Resident Evil and Tomb Raider look clearer and played smoother.
I only checked locally (without a wireless router).
Yeah, I tried this with DmC and it blew me away. Really impressive results.
We were talking about remote play before, are there any side effects to playing at 60fps?
Does it affect the delay at all?
Good work Sony. I like the useful updates. This feature should have been shown more in ads. Who wouldn't want to play PS4 from their backyards?
So can I play Diablo 3 from the comforts of my bed with a super solid framerate and less of a delay? Gonna find out tonight!
Omfg, does remote play really work over different networks??....????? I couldn't get it to work around NA launch.
So why would you not want to enable this?
Would it be less smooth than 30fps if your connection can't keep up?
This is awesome, it really is huuuuge difference!!
@belmont
Yeah, I tried Resogun, and it's a lot smoother to play it via the remote play than original Vita version which now looks pretty choppy compared to PS4 version
I played some infamous second son with this turned on and the difference wasn't that huge to me personally, and even though my vita and PS4 were wirelessly connected directly (not through the internet) the game did lag occasionally or the video would glitch out for a second. Probably due to playing in 60fps, 30 fps it ran pretty much fine for me.
Using the remote play app on my phone, I was able to switch high quality before the update. I guess that just meant visual quality. I'll test it to see if the 60fps update applies to the mobile app too..
