We know that a lot of you love your PlayStation 3, but there's no doubt that the device is on its way out. Several franchises are still launching simultaneously on the last-gen system and the PlayStation 4, of course, but we doubt that there'll be many more exclusives for the machine moving forwards. As such, Yakuza 5 may be the last must have title that deploys on the console β even if it's taken a while to travel overseas.
And to be honest, we couldn't have picked a better release for the PS3 to retire alongside. There are several huge Yakuza fans here at Push Square Towers, and while we're equally eager to see new entry Yakuza Zero on these shores, we're still extremely excited for Yakuza 5. In this new video, Third-Party Productions chief Gio Corsi grills developers Toshihiro Nagoshi and Masayoshi Yokoyama over various aspects about the title.

wish they would announce a release date for this! Can't wait!
Having played Yakuza 4 when on ps plus I am now the world's foremost Yakuza fanboi and can't wait for this to arrive
I'm hoping this will eventually be ported to PS4. I don't use my PS3 at all anymore.
@stevie85 It won't. Your best hope is that this sells okay and Sony agrees to fund Yakuza Zero's localisation as well.
There won't be a retail version of this right? It's fine that it won't happen, but I would prefer it.
@shonenjump86 It's confirmed for PSN only at the moment.
@get2sammyb that's disappointing lol
So if there is no physical I will be skipping this. Oh well. Haven't even touched 4 anyway.
@BrianC
same thing, became a Yakuza fan after playing 4 on PS+
Hmmm. Haven't played Yazuka before but it sounds like a lot of you became fans with the free plus version. I have it for free as well. What other games is it similar to?
@ztpayne7 There are some similarities to Shenmue in the way it sometimes captures the mundanity of everyday life. It's more like a modern Streets of Rage crossed with an RPG and oodles of random Japanese culture.
My PS3 sold on eBay this very day so will miss out on this now...
Will check it out if it comes to PS4 or PS Now though π
What you mean hook back up my PS3, I still play my original PSOne and get games for that, I'll never un - hook that thing! Lol yea, of course I'll be playing this, I still play my ps3 more then my ps4, and Yakuza is great! Any reason to play a Sega game is also a plus
@get2sammyb never played shenmue. Is it sort of like sleeping dogs?
@ztpayne7 Erm. Yeah, a little bit. There are definitely similarities there. But it's way more RPG than Sleeping Dogs, which is more your typical open world game.
This is literally the only game I would pay for a digital preorder of, since it's digital only anyways...
Ok guys- I've always been tempted by this series, but the first entries are super expensive on disc. Would it be alright skipping them and just going for the PS3 entries, or do you think I'd be missing out? It'd be way easier if they were all on PSN.
