Talk about beating the undead horse – Ubisoft has decided to announce a boxed retail version of Zombi, a game that it's pretty much bled dry over the course of three years.
First starting out as a Wii U game, Zombi then was ported to PS4 earlier this year, and was well received by reviewer Greg Giddens, who gave it an 8/10, calling it "a unique survival title that never compromises horror for action". This port added more weapons, shiny new visuals, and improved load times, but it doesn't look like the new retail version will add anything to the title.

Still squeezing a dry utter Ubisoft.
This cow was milked before it ever left the Wii U.
Why? I loved it on Wii U, but it just felt empty on Xbox One (I haven't played it on PS4, but I imagine it's the same game). It was built for the Wii U's gamepad, and it worked well with it. Why are they giving a gutted port into which they put half-hearted effort with minimal enhancements on a disc now? Did it actually sell well digitally?
With my PS4 now I have two systems to play this on, and I won't use any of them to play this.
They are crazy if they think it will sell like all those AC games.
Nah, thanks, I'm good. Enjoyed this game the first time around on Wii U, and played through the inferior PS4 port for the trophies. At this point it's safe to say that that ship has sailed...
Awesome, I'll be adding it to my physical library.
So many people whine Ill buy it if it's physical but not digital. Then you get physical and now it's too old or I'll buy it when it's on sale or bleh bleh bleh. The article writers are just as guilty of bs when their main job is too inform us., in this case it's about the upcoming physical release. Instead they add a negative note to the article and maybe influence people who might have been excited about it to become the opposite.
I think the issue, Darsman is that the game came out on the Wii U and was built specifically for it, while its several years old and been superseded by better zombie games.
The only thing that actually interested me personally was its London setting as I live there...However I wouldn't say its a terrible game, just not one that would set the world alight.
Besides the digital release went down like the proverbial lead balloon on PS4 and X1 and Ubisoft's new attempts smack of desperation somewhat considering this.
Although I do agree regards some of the whining (as you put it) and that physical copies of games are always welcome, sometimes companies need to stop flogging that horse.
I'd be more interested in Ubi' developing this Zombi franchise further utilising the respective hardware than trying to make what a lot see as lazy money.
There's other 'zombie' or 'horror' games that are just better. I just don't see the point in this when there's already Alien Isolation, The Evil Within, Resident Evil Revelations 2 and Until Dawn. If you're on Xbox One, swap Until Dawn for Dead Rising 3. All these games are better. I guess this is good for the few who really want this but would prefer a physical release, but honestly I hope the next game this development team is working on is the long overdue Red Steel 3, hopefully as an NX launch title.
Its just too boring, hit zombie, hit zombie, hit zombie, sometimes die, repeat. Even with all its flaws I prefer dead island for zombie melee combat, or heck even left 4 dead 2, at least witches were slightly intimidating.
It's only coming out in Europe from what I hear, so no. I tried playing this game on Wii U, and I didn't like it then, so I have no interest in playing this game on a system it wasn't really designed for.
This game really isn't giving up!
