Bungie seems committed to smaller, timed events that are designed to keep players coming back to Destiny, but we're still not convinced that the structure is as satisfying as it arguably needs to be. The shooter's next event will coincide with Valentine's Day, so let's hope that you're not, you know, actually socialising with your significant other.
To be fair, the Crimson Days event will last one week, beginning on the 9th February. It'll introduce a new player-versus-player mode called Crimson Doubles, which seems pretty straightforward: you and a partner will fight other couples for glory, and, according to the official blog post, you'll be able to nab some good loot.
It's a nice little idea, but again, we're just not sure if it's enough to keep players interested. To some extent, it seems as though many Guardians have once again hit a brick wall when it comes to character progression, with only the King's Fall Raid really having any point to it once you hit a certain light level - and we all know how difficult it can be to round up five of your friends for several hours at a time.
But hey, we'll give Bungie the benefit of the doubt. Alongside the Crimson Days event, the developer promises a February update, which will hopefully tweak some aspects of the game for the better.

This must be where the extra money people paid for TTK (£40 for an expansion) went, I understand why people bought it (I didn't) but wasn't it under promise that future content could be free? Well this must be it, enjoy.
Isn't this what this did last year? Just with less decorations? They had a 2 man team mode along with a hilarious valentines day message.
I haven't played this for a couple of months and I doubt I ever will again. I had a lot of fun with TTK and it was a huge improvement over the original release, however I finished all the campaign missions long ago as well as some of the secret side quests. I'm not a huge fan of competitive multiplayer, I dip in now and then but it doesn't hold my attention long. I would love to play a sequel now that Bungee seems to have got into its stride and realised the importance of the story mode, but these throw away events won't bring me back.
I still keep going back regardless - there's always stuff to get done
Crucible (and it's subsequent Quests)
Raids (both Kings Fall and the others)
Raid Challenge Mode for Kings Fall
Heroic Strikes (with normal strikes as well granting Strike mission specific loot)
Prison of Elders
Trials of Osiris
Iron Banner (which happens every 4-6 weeks)
Sparrow Racing League (Holiday seasonal event, hopefully soon to be semi permanent)
Festival of the Lost (Halloween event)
Daily Heroic Story missions (which can give way for secret side quests)
Daily and Weekly Crucible playlists to rack up Legendary Marks
Nightfall are more forgiving (no more boot to Orbit on team wipe)
Exotic collecting
And another upcoming weekly event during Valentines Day? Combine all that with all of the improvements from The Taken King, I struggle to see what people have to complain about!!
Not going to get me back but I'm sure I'll be shooting and looting again by the end of the year.
I have too many other games to play right now and with my destiny clan we switched to hilarious Rocket League matches waiting for the Division....
If this is more what we have to look forward to instead of traditional dlc now that microtransactions were introduced to fund these events, destiny might finally fall off my rotation for a long period of time. I would have preferred getting an actual dlc that by now we would have known about and paid for the season pass. Or, and this goes against my preference when it comes to mmos, a challenge mode for all raids and poe that for the week they are active drops the gear and weapons from that raid at 310-320. Since its painfully obvious they are ignoring the pve content players in favor of pvp players in getting more and more annoyed. How pve players don't have a banner type event that rolls around monthly, dropping endgame loot, and haven't since the queen first showed up at the tower is beyond me. We (pve primary players) chew up all the content we can get our hands on, and for the most part just smile and enjoy the content that's there, while pvp players play pvp primarily, whine constantly about Nerfs and buffs, yet get so much more attention than pve players.
I apologize for the sidetracked rant, but my friends and I have all been playing since the alpha, love doing pve content over pvp and enjoy the game a lot because of raids and strikes, yet feel constantly nudged to focus on the smallest part of the game and most frustrating due to connection issues, lack of dedicated servers, and self inflicted lack of options in terms of loadouts to be competitive.
Awful, me and Destiny are on a break. I've been cheating on it with BOps 3. Bungie will need to do better. If it wants my love.
I got the Destiny/white PS4 bundle & played a number of days worth (it's too embarrassing to tell anyone how much of the game I played) but I went from daily play to...at least a month without. TTK was a good improvement but there's nothing to comeback for. This sounds...meh.Wake me up when D2 comes out.
"only the King's Fall Raid really having any point to it once you hit a certain light level - and we all know how difficult it can be to round up five of your friends for several hours at a time." reason there to why I don't bother playing! Don't have 3/4hrs to and another hour to find a Good team to be able to get Good Loot! Roll on Borderlands 3!!
