Star Wars Battlefront's doing the whole "update" thing today, with its February patch bringing both new content and fixes for existing issues. The free download – which isn't available on the PlayStation 4 at the time of typing, but should deploy soon – includes a fresh map set on Hoth named Twilight, as well as a new mission called Survival in the Ice Caves.
The latest map will be compatible with all of the big battle modes, as well as Fighter Squadron, Drop Zone, and Heroes vs. Villains. Turning Point has also been added to all of the big maps. Other than that, there's now a Film Grain filter that you can apply to the visuals, while the A-Wing's hit box has been increased. You can find all of the patch notes below.
Update (12:00PM GMT): Just as we went to press, the patch started to download on our PS4. It weighs in at 4.4GB.

Too late! Traded my copy in a couple of days ago. Was fun while it lasted.
One of many games recently though where it feels that they've only given you half a game. Which is fine if the price reflects that.
This sounds like a good patch. With the new map and the rest of the modes it's definitely worth jumping back in. I hope we get some more single player/ co-op missions in the future as the ones that are there are fun just not long enough. Good game but can see why people are disappointed with lack of content but looks like we will get more free content in the future alongside DLC.
Well it definitely needs new maps. I'll probably pop back on later today and check it out.
@LieutenantFatman Completely agree!! I really don't understand why the Games Industry think its OK to release 'half' a game and maybe add content at a later date! I would much rather pay for the 'content' provided and at the time it releases. First impressions count and if I feel I am not getting 'value for money', even with the promise of additional content free, I am unlikely to buy.
I think Dice knew this game lacks the depth to keep players interested over the duration, that coupled with making the deadline to coincide with the film, opted to drip feed content to keep players artificially returning.
I haven't played since the Jakku DLC and I can't see myself returning in the near future. Visually stunning but the game is boring and lacks depth. New maps alone aren't going to entice me back.
@BAMozzy I got £26 for trading it in. Worth considering while it's worth something. I can see the price dropping when the dlc starts arriving.
@LieutenantFatman That's not bad - in my opinion that's more than the game is worth However I personally don't trade or sell my games. I did sell an XB360 but that was because I upgraded to a slim version with a bigger HD and didn't need 2. The last console I actually traded was my Virtual Boy.
My Son ended up with my N64 but when I moved 3yrs ago, I ended up having to downsize quickly and ended up scrapping boxes of games and old consoles/computers going back to my Vic20 but kept everything from my original xbox era onwards. It was difficult to sell as I didn't have chance to check if they still worked/loaded etc. I am a bit of a hoarder and even if I don't like or play these games again, I still don't sell.
@BAMozzy Fair enough, I know plenty like yourself. Although worth pointing out 90% of the game is online so when the servers go offline, it won't be worth anything, sadly. I'm all for hoarding those epic single player games though that you can revisit 15 to 20 years down the line.
this story was posted 6 hours ago stating it wasnt up and running yet hummmm funny that been playing it with the updates since 10 am
@LieutenantFatman I know its primarily an online game with very little offered to offline gamers but you could lay those MP modes offlne against bots. Funnily enough though I rarely go back to 'old' games. I still have my PS3/XB360 set up with a number of games I loved and a number of games unfinished but haven't played on these consoles since I upgraded to gen 8. I don't even look at the Gold/IGC games for last gen either (although I have started looking at the Gold ones now we have BC but still haven't played them). Looking at pre-order bonuses that offer BC games (like Fallout 3, Doom 1 and 2) doesn't interest me because they are 'old' gen games. I bought Rare Replay but have spent maybe an hour on that - mostly on Blast Corps but I lack motivation to play those when I have much newer games to play.
At the moment, even though I am killing time until Uncharted 4 releases, I still prefer to play games less than 6months old - I haven't started Fallout 4 yet so its not like I am lacking options.
Even though I don't play some games, they still make my collection look more impressive on the shelf. With games like SW:BF though, I almost guarantee that as soon as I sell it, a friend would want to play it. I would rather keep it just in case. Although I have little desire to play it 'solo', I would certainly play it socially.
@BAMozzy Fair dues, one of the main reasons I've kept hold of Bloodborne is in case a friend asks me to join them so I definitely appreciate that. But also because it's fantastic, I'd love any excuse to revisit.
@BAMozzy I think in Battlefront's case they were under pressure to release the game around the time that Episode 7 came out. It's a proven fact that movie tie in games (or in this case the same IP) released around the same time as the movie hits theaters always makes alot more money. So basically EA didn't want to lose out on all that money and probably told Dice to release it when they did and they could add stuff later through DLC. It's a bad practice but sadly I don't see it ending anytime soon.
Time to play this more/again lol
Loving the game still.
Loving the support.
I took the risk and I'm being rewarded
