Want to know what the worst thing about the weekend is? Trying to come up with an introduction to WAYP. Y'know, this author's seriously considering concocting a copy and paste intro that can be recycled every week. For now, though, we'll simply make a passing comment about the weather – it's a bit drizzly here in the UK.

After walking simulator week, I've been surrounding myself with the gamiest of games. Street Fighter V has been eating up most of my time, but I'm also reviewing Hitman Go. Video games.
Robert Ramsey, Associate Editor
This weekend will likely be split between Street Fighter V and The Division open beta. Because they're so different, the plan is to jump over to Ubisoft's shooter when I'm sick of getting my arse handed to me in Capcom's brawler. Likewise, when I find myself bored out of my mind wandering through the same empty New York streets, I can go and attempt to kick butt as Ken. And, if it comes down to it, I may get to have a Street Fighter duel with Sammy – it'll be like watching Liverpool play Manchester United, only way more entertaining.
Alex Stinton, Reviewer
This Saturday night I'm going clubbing. No, I haven't suddenly developed a social life, I'm playing Far Cry Primal for review. I may also dip into The Division Open Beta just so I can make it an all Ubisoft weekend.
Graham Banas, Reviewer
Now that I've finished up Unravel and The Witness, I can finally dive into Firewatch. I've been anxiously waiting to dive into it, but I was determined to wait for the patch that stabilises the game, and luckily, that is now out.
Marcello Apostolico, Reviewer
'The Grid. A digital frontier.' Yes, that's right – I will be focusing some more time with the newly released Tron Run/r (stay tuned for my review) this weekend. With a bit more time, I'll be walking the snowy streets of Manhattan, surviving against an epidemic in the public beta of The Division.
Matt Adcock, Reviewer
I will be getting stuck in to The Division beta this weekend and dabbling in a spot of Firewatch. Oh, and continuing the levelling up fight in the hardcore quest towards a Disgaea 5 Platinum. (Really, if anyone out there hasn't played Disgaea 5 you really should – it's a freaking masterpiece!)
Sam Brooke, Reviewer
I'll be going on and off The Divison's beta this weekend, still trying to decide if it's actually any good or not, as well as playing smatterings of Just Cause 3 and Rocket League in order to blow off some steam. If all goes to plan, I'll also be playing Pro Clubs on FIFA 16 with Push Square FC, as we try to win some silverware after a relegation caused by some horrible luck.
Simon Fitzgerald, Reviewer
This weekend I'm in sunny Cyprus so my PS4 can have a week off. If I get the chance, I may play a few games on my Vita (The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Lemmings Touch) but mostly I'll be checking out the Greek ruins and mosaics.
Stephen Tailby, Reviewer
A lot of stuff is happening next weekend, like moving house, and the annual celebration of my birth. This weekend, then, not only will I be busy sorting through and packing all of my things, but I have been forbidden from buying myself any new games until after I turn 26. So, before I box up my TV and PS4, it's The Witness, Rocket League, and a little Nathan Drake Collection for me. That is, if I get time.
Victor Nowogurski, Moderator
I will be heading out of town this weekend, so I will be packing my 3DS with Mario Kart 7 and finally starting Bravely Default.
Looks like it's going to be a busy weekend of gaming for our team. But what will you be playing during your weekend break? Outline your itinerary in the comments section below.

Got an invite for Smite alpha. I don't like MOBAs, but this one plays great and the third person camera gives it a better feeling imo.
@Melucine How does it run on PS4? Silky smooth?
I had no problems! I did not notice any frame drops or anything and the dualshock fits perfectly.
I have uploaded a video at my FAcebook, but honestly I have no idea how to link it here with out showing my name at the link
I played The Division beta last night and it just felt like a cover based mmo... It just really doesn't seem to go with all the realistic city, guns etc. It all felt to static and there was no immersion for me at all, however I did only spend 30 minutes on it but the bullet sponge etc really doesn't suit a realistic 3rd person shooter imo. So I have jumped back into the Wasteland with my second character on Fallout 4. Then on Sunday it will be Pushsquare FC's time for some silverware after a very unlucky relegation and 2 straight red cards in the semi-finals of our cup run.
I'm spooking myself with Until Dawn.
On chapter 5 now and it's starting to get more gruesome! Great game but is just a reminder I'm a big girls blouse when it comes to horror games/movies!
FFVII (PS4), FFXHD & FFXIII (decided to restart the FFXIII Trilogy)
PlayStation Portable: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2006, LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
Nintendo Wii U: LEGO City Undercover
PS4 - Gravity Rush Remastered
I'm away over the weekend but as soon as I get back I'll be playing Street Fighter V.
@Gamer83 How are you enjoying it on PS4? I thought it was an excellent port.
@Dodoo Great game! Hope Until Dawn 2 gets announced this year.
@Melucine Awesome to hear. I'll definitely be giving this one a go when the "final" version rolls out.
Definitely playing Street Fighter V this weekend, as soon as I get done with my uni work lol.
You should quit ya moaning and do that already
Another week to wait before I can play bravely second so whiling away the time with some Driveclub!
I'll be out of town this weekend. But if I get home at a reasonable time, I'll be playing DCUO. Maybe some Destiny if I get a chance.
@get2sammyb I think its worth a try. At the moment I am trying to upload the video on youtube, but it takes too much time, as soon as it is ready, I will link it here.
@kyleforrester87 Haha!
For me it is finishing my first Digimon run and probably a little DBX attack grind (22 to go) or finish my second play through of Lego Harry Potter 5-7 on PS3.
proberly end up playing battlefront,project cars and some black ops 3....roll on doom and homefront
Fire Emblem Fates (3DS)
The greatest video game ever created. No argument. No question. This is the best game I've ever played.
Every single person here would do well to pawn their personal belongings, disown their children and go play this game. For all eternity!
@get2sammyb Yeah an Until Dawn sequel would be sweet! Hopefully this one sold well enough to warrant it...?
As it is I think I'll have a second playthrough of the first game as I'm disappointed I've killed off one of my characters, I hear you can save them all...?
@Dodoo That's part of the beauty of it - I still don't know how you keep one character in particular alive.
And yeah, the game's sales exceeded expectations apparently.
@JaxonH How dare you. How dare you even mention that game in this comments section when it doesn't even have a European release date.
Absolute monster.
I will be sinking even more time into the division beta. Last one my friends and I cleared 19hrs each, one day down, 6hrs in the books. Absolutely love the game just based on the incredibly small amount we see, and the dark zone is so much fun. March 8th can't come soon enough.
Unravel for me.
Let's see, this weekend I'll be playing a bit of Final Fantasy 7 on PS4, and The Division beta. I'm digging the gunplay in this game, but I'm not sure how I feel about everything else... Gonna definitely put more time into it and try out the Dark Zone later, but so far I'm not that impressed. I'm also waiting for my copy of Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright to come in the mail, hopefully today because I will promptly start on it! I have a download code for Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest that I'll use to at least install it, but I might wanna play through the latter game first before touching Conquest.
Finished my replay of Suikoden V a week or so ago. Now that my pocketbook's gotten a breather since Christmas, picked up Trails of Cold Steel. Neat game so far - shaping up to be, imo, the second best game of 2015. (Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition being 1st.)
PC - Black Ops III
XOne - Halo 5
PS4 - Gravity Rush

@get2sammyb
Actually like it better than Vita version, just because some of the annoying controls, like the sliding have been improved thanks to the Dualshock 4. I also think the game has held up well over time, still feels pretty unique in today's market. Really looking forward to GR 2.
@ShogunRok
I'd say the game is worth relocating for
I know a lot of Europeans are distraught over the lack of release window. And I can't blame them. I'd be spazzing out right now if the tables were turned.
@get2sammyb Nice I got a promotion to reviewer. I guess giving you those backstage Taylor Swift tickets worked eh Sammy.
Alex Stinton won this round! Lol!
I'm playing SFV and I won't stop until till my fingers are bleeding. It's a shame the game is so light on content and so focused on such a small part of their userbase, cause the actual gameplay is divine.... I can't stop playing. Last night was the first time I really had a few hours straight without disconnects and I was even smiling when I got raped really bad... I even think I might have played Justin Wong on Vega, but it could be an imposter... He was extremely skilled though!
I was going to play The Division Beta all weekend. I played it for an hour but will now wait till the full release as some of the content was repeated from the first beta test. Still enjoying it a lot. Surprised to get a key for Smite so downloaded it. Considering its an Alpha build it runs as well as some fully finished games not noticed any issues at all. The game is a lot of fun but as I have never played it before will take a bit of getting used to. I think they have done a good job on the PS4 version.
I want to play the divison beta but I've started FF VII again and that game has always had a special kind of hold for me. So thats all I want to play now.
More Transformers grinding, a good game by the way
Wanted to say SFV but it won't arrive till Monday.
So Fire Emblem Awakening. Yes, I am original like that. Also Splatfest today. Continuing a season on Rocket League.
Got the Trackmania turbo beta. Oh my God its great. Multiplayer is awesome, and I don't like Multiplayer usually.
@KingofSaiyans Thank you my friend, really enjoying it.
$10 for The Order is money well spent imo too!
@Gamer83 Great to hear because i quit Gravity rush because of the slide controlsss..
I'm actually writing this on the way to GameStop, so I will play the games I get from there (probably GTA V, CODBO3, and Street Fighter Five). I will also be trying to 100% Just Cause 3 still, but I plan to finish it this weekend due to only having very limited amounts of bases to liberate left (8 I think). Unfortunately though, the playing will be limited yet again due to my sisters birthday.
Smite alpha and REALLY loving it
Starting, restarting, and re-re-re-starting Divinity to find the right pair of characters
I've been playing The Division beta. The first hour I thought it was a little meh but after another try, I'm quite enjoying it. The only things that concern me is that it feels like one of those games that will become a chore. It has the typical Ubisoft checklist of collectables, the streets seem lonely (reminds me of Infamous) and, a minor concern, the character creation seems like it will be very basic ( I know it's a beta but only the hairstyles are unavailable).
@Sanquine
They really fixed up the sliding controls. L2+R2 and the left stick to control movement, much better than putting two fingers on the screen and tilting.
@JaxonH is it that good, though? I don't know anything about the series... Kinda thinking I need some more games for my 3DS, though..
@kyleforrester87
If there's one game you buy one 3DS, make it Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright. If you've never played FE before you'll probably want to avoid Conquest, for now anyways.
It's most definitely that good, and then some. Heck IGN gave it like a 9.4/10. Fire Emblem Awakening has been one of my favorite games- it changed me from a person who hated any and all RPG's into a die-hard SRPG fan. Well, tbh I never really found another grid-based SRPG that was more than mediocre, so I can't really say I'm a fan of the genre, but of FE? Absolutely.
But anyways, Awakening was amazing (92/100 MetaCritic speaks volumes) but Fire Emblem Fates is superior in almost every aspect.
@FullbringIchigo wow that's commitment! I recently re-played XIII and despite its many shortcomings, the characters and the battle system are amazing. Such a missed opportunity to have a real JRPG masterpiece in the HD era (still missing as far as I am concerned).
Something called a game? Haha!
@JaxonH Why avoid one over the other? I've never found a SRPG that I really like..There is a demo of this on the store I think? Maybe I should download it.
@Mega-Gazz You don't need to do it like that, just pick 2 randoms and make it work, thats half the fun By the end of the game your builds are all over the place anyway, and the guys you pick up in town quicky fill any strategic gaps you may have.
Yoshi's Wooly World. Im into simpler games lately. Really can't be assed with my PS4 much these days, considering trading it in for casino chips
@kyleforrester87
You should read the review on Nintendo Life to understand why.
They are two totally separate games. And Conquest was developed for the hardcore, experienced FE fans. The old games were notoriously difficult, but Awakening really opened up the series to newcomers. This split the fanbase, so Intelligent Systems answered this by developing 2 separate games, one for each segment of the new fanbase. Conquest follows the style of older entries- harder maps and diverse objectives, no grinding for extra XP, smarter AI, etc. Birthrigjt follows they blueprint of Awakening and is more welcoming to the less experienced.
No demo, but there is a demo for Awakening.
@Feena i can't help it, i LOVE the Final Fantasy games and i enjoy them no matter how many times i have played them
also FFXIII gets a lot of undue hate i think because it wasn't a bad game and i know most people state it's linear nature as the main reason but FFX was linear as well and that one is well liked
i think people moan just for the sake of it
@JaxonH Okay, will take a look and give the demo of Awakening another go, too.
@FullbringIchigo I really didn't like FF13, played it for 25 hours or so then got bored. I kinda want to try the 13 trilogy again, though, but I don't see me going back to PS3 to do it now
I just spent some time on Spyro 2, but other than that I'm not sure what I'll play.
Finishing Uncharted: Golden Abyss on Vita and Fallout 4 arrives tomorrow. It was £22 on amazon with soundtrack and booklet so... Yoink. Imagine this will keep me occupied until Uncharted 4.
@FullbringIchigo for me it was more the lack of explorable towns. In X you can get around a lot in little environments like Besaid, Kilika, Luka (not so little lol) and so on...XIII lacks this kind of thing almost completely (we get a little taste in Nautilus I guess). Then again I prefer XIII to the likes of Ninokuni (a game that does world building extremely well) because battle system is king for me. And ninokuni's one was so unpolished...
@kyleforrester87 give Lightning Returns a try. That stuff is wonderfully weird...I guess you could find it interesting even if you wouldn't like it.
@JaxonH Just played through the Awakening demo and read some reviews, I'll look to pick it up when it's released here for sure.
@kyleforrester87
Are you in EU? Ya no release date for Fates yet, but Awakening is available
@JaxonH Fire Emblem????
I think Disgaea 5 is the game you mean. @kyleforrester buy that you nutter its got the Noisy seal of approval, its the best grid based battle system in the world.
This weekend I've just tallied up the playstation push square best game of all time votes so far. The next time everyone's limited to a single vote. My god that took time.
I may play some Fallout 4 just to laugh at its crazy goty award and make myself feel better.
Driveclub has finally clicked for me so I'll be sinking quite a few hours into that and maybe a bit of Resident Evil
@JaxonH Yeah I would go for Awakening but Bravely Second launches on Friday over here so I'll be busy with that. Once I'm done I'll get Awakening, or Birthright if it's got a launch date by then.
@themcnoisy Ahhh see I know Disgaea is a great game it's just a bit too "Dooooooood" for me, you know? I don't mind quirky but neither the characters, presentation, sound etc. in the demo really gelled with me...
@themcnoisy
......
I found Disgaea to be entertaining, but, definitely not in the same ballpark as FE. No offense of course. If you enjoy it I say right on...
@kyleforrester87
You see the launch trailer for Fire Emblem Fates?
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vcNSOucZduE&ebc=ANyPxKqBBjgDxmaIBrDCbXw8hyit_u-NY4QKpq86eyHG_mK6Vbxhr5hEB_7rwKCBj9-BPEyRg6IJfeN67g2TjzNj1SG-eri-1w
@JaxonH yep - looks good, although I'm most interested in the battles. To that end I'd like to think it'd be good to jump right into conquest but perhaps not such a good idea.
@kyleforrester87
Well, if you play Awakening first (or are an experienced player of the genre) you probably could manage.
Of course, ever since the 12th entry there has been a casual mode, which allows your units to return after each chapter (basically, it turns off the permadeath feature). You could manage in Conquest without permadeath, cause even if you lost half your crew on each map, as log as you win you'll get em all back for the next chapter.
But playing Conquest in classic mode (with permadeath) and no prior Fire Emblem experience... that could prove a serious challenge
@JaxonH I read that with no oppertunities for endless grinding on conquest you can technically play it wrong by relying on your stronger characters in battle and not leveling your weaker units, thereby hitting an inevitable wall at some point. Not sure how likely that is in real terms but sounds interesting. I hear the battles can last a real long time too in Conquest.
Really I guess I need to play at least one of them before Conquest.
@JaxonH Quite a lot of people don't get on with Disgaea and I've never understood why, the tactical play and gameplay is the best the genre has. Look at what Matt Adcock writes in the article above - he's trying to platinum it this weekend.
I played fire emblem on the gb advance which was good at the time although even then advance wars and Disgaea 2 were my favourite tactical role playing games.
@themcnoisy
The GBA entries are great games, but the series has come a LONG ways since then
@themcnoisy love Disgaea! And love FE precisely because is not as bottomless and complex as Disgaea. They're both a must in my book...I'd say Disgaea is more refined though.
Dragon quest hereos on the ps4. Not the greatest game. But its a nice filler, why i wait for certain games to get release.
Taking a break from the vita while i am trying to complete my book.
@get2sammyb How about writing the description for WAYP in different languages every week? Could be an interesting challenge...
Anyway, I'm playing all Assassin's Creed games in order; trying hard to understand the story... Right now, I'm at Brotherhood. Gotta tell ya, even though II/Br/Re are better games than the 1st one, Ezio's story is kinda lame in comparison. I mean, Altair fought for something he believed (or tried to understand) and Assassins/Templars weren't good or bad, they just had different ideas for the world. Ezio is all about vengeance, personal goals... I mean, Rodrigo Borgia wants the Apple for what? Ruling the world? Isn't that a little too old already?
@GraveLordXD
Birthright.
I didn't want to spoil it by playing Conquest first. I haven't played FE in a while so Birthright is perfect to get back in the swing of things, then step up to Conquest after sharpening my skills again with the first playthrough.
Then, finish off with Revelations and the DLC of course
After about 50 hours of gameplay, I've completed...oh...35 percent of MGSV so far. Should have another 15-20 hours to go before I finish the story, then I got to move on to other games. In the meantime, I'll definitely be playing The Division beta while it's going on.
The Division and Unravel. 👍
FF7/Lego Star Wars on the Vita
Assassin's Creed Syndicate - PS4
@Feena yeah i can see what you mean by lack of towns, although i found that the way story was done meant that it was the only way of doing it, if your on the run you can't really stop and explore and i felt it worked really well
FFXIII-2 & LR made up for that though, plenty of exploration in those 2 although it took me a while to get used to the time system in LR hence why i want to start again because i messed up a lot in that game
Digimon Story
81 hours in and I can't play anything else!
Maybe PvZ Gw2 can take me out of it next weekend
@themcnoisy Has fallout grown anymore on you? I found it got better after the first 30 hours, I'm nearing the end of it now I think and it picks up after a very very slow start, there's some interesting quests latter in in the game I found
I finished Danganronpa 2 last night and I'm away from home so it's more Vita action for me. I'll play through some more FF IX and I think I'll start Gravity Rush as well. Might lay through some Nihilumbra also
@Hego well that's part of the problem, I'm getting to the stage were I mean to put it on - but jump into any other game instead. Lego Marvel it was last night. And we played FIFA clubs on Friday. Do you have fifa? Join our club.
@kyleforrester87 i'm not sure why you wouldn't want to play them on the PS3 but you could always get them on PC the entire trilogy is on Steamnow
@FullbringIchigo I've not got a gaming PC right now, unfortunately. As for not wanting to go back to my PS3, i'm not sure what the hang up is there really :/
The Division.... I love the dynamic mechanics that are created in the dark zone and the tension that builds up at extraction zone. I am liking the game so far and the loot has more sense than in Destiny. I wish that New york would be more filled with enemies and random events. At times you just wander for minutes without anything happening...
@DrJoeystein You can do it, Joey!
Shadow of Mordor GOTY... I'm trying to get the plat.
@themcnoisy I don't actually, haven't bought a fifa game in a few years, might get back into it next season
@GraveLordXD don't think he means spoil the story as they are different stories, conquest is just meant to be a lot harder though, so would make sense to do Birthright first if rusty
@GraveLordXD
What @kyleforrester87 said.
It would spoil it by making it too easy. You get accustomed to that hardcore gameplay then follow up with an easier path, it takes all the challenge out of the equation.
Both games have their own story, equally important, but of course intertwined. Can play in either order, but the 3rd game, Revelation- that one does need to be played last because it has major spoilers for Birthright and Conquest.
Basically you're raised a prince/princess in Nohr, ruled by a ruthless King- your father. But then you find out you were actually born the prince/princess of the peace-loving Hoshido, but was kidnapped by Nohr as a small child.
And the thing is, both countries are at war with each other.
So you have to make a choice- do you side with Nohr who raised you and the siblings who you grew up with and love you, despite your merciless father, and fight against your true family? Or do you side with your true family despite having just met them and not really knowing them, and fight against the family that raised you and loves you.
Birthright is the path siding with your true family, while Conquest is the path siding with those that raised you.
I played some more of The Witness. Almost completed the game, still a handful of puzzles to solve. I may have some time left to continue Gravity Rush Remastered.
Been playing Dark Souls 1 and The Division beta. And a bit of Shovel Knight. Dark Souls is awesome, looking forward to the 3rd game in March.
@GraveLordXD Might bump into you at some point! I do love all the online stuff in this and Bloodborne so no doubt I'll get stuck in for DS3 as well.
