Where's the fire? Sony seemed to suggest earlier today that the only way you'll be able to pre-order PlayStation VR is by purchasing its $499.99 launch bundle – but that may not entirely be the case. The product's official website states that pre-orders for the base $399.99 set are "coming soon", so if you already own a PlayStation Camera and a couple of PlayStation Move controllers – don't panic.
To be fair, there's a long way to go until October, so it seems that this launch bundle is just kicking off its campaign. For those that didn't catch our previous article: the $499.99 bundle will include the complete PlayStation VR set, a PlayStation Camera, two PlayStation Move wands, and a copy of PlayStation VR Worlds. If you don't want all of that, though, watch this space.
Update (23:45PM GMT): The abovementioned "coming soon" quote attached to base PlayStation VR pre-orders has been removed from Sony's website. It now says: "Core PS VR bundle is currently unavailable for pre-order." Hmm.

Seems like everyone wanted to jump to negative conclusions. Have faith comrades.
Oh, the drama!
Hello Sammy
OK now I have a suggestion for you and the others who were upset with Sony announcing the bundle first. "Step back, take a few breaths, and relax"
Sony isn't going to hose over consumers into forcing them into just buying the bundle. They will market this just right. E3 is going to be amazing again this year with PSVR officially announced.
Cheers!!!

@GrafUlrich88 I still believe they're trying to railroad consumers into the launch bundle, though. There's no reason not to offer the base model for pre-orders, too.
Hey Sammy,
Yeah you might have a good point. The base bundle needs to be available for pre orders as well. It would be a huge mistake if the didn't.
I hope that you and the rest of your staff will give us readers some videos of your hands on time with PSVR and new games during E3 this year. I appreciate your websites excellent PlayStation coverage throughout the year.
Cheers!!!

P.S. Have a great weekend to you and your staff!
Hey, Sammy,
Correction to my first sentence " Yeah you have a good point". Sorry about that.
Cheers!!!

That was a poorly put together post on the blog by Sony. All they had to do was swap one sentence and say "base model preorders coming soon" to reflect what it says on the official site. Messaging is so important in launching new tech. The Xbox One/PS4 E3 launch clearly proved that point.
What a dumb tactic--it's only going to piss people off. When Ubisoft or Square or someone like that does something stupid like this, we aren't that surprised. But seriously, Sony should know better.
Thank GOD for that(you can buy the basic version to in the USA to) because it seemed like every time SONY do something right the next minute they mess it up
