Fallout 4's overhauled survival mode was confirmed weeks ago, but it's still yet to scavenge a concrete release date. The tweaked difficulty setting will require you to eat, drink, and sleep in order to survive, while healing happens over time, and ammunition has weight. Basically, it's going to make the game more of a challenge and arguably more immersive, and for many, that's two good reasons to get excited.
Those same people will be happy to know, then, that Bethesda's given a rather rough release window for the survival mode update. Answering fans on Twitter, the publisher confirms that the mode is going to be beta tested on PC "soon" - and we have to imagine that "soon" will be before the title's second add-on launches next month. With that in mind, Fallout 4's patches seem to stay in beta for around one to two weeks before coming to consoles, so we're probably looking at survival mode landing at some point in April. In any case, it certainly sounds like it's not too far away.

I'm confused as to why they would even need to beta test this? Though I suppose if it means to releases on consoles with no problems it's worth it. This would actually encourage me to go back and finish the game.
This is all I'm waiting for to dip back in for one more playthrough. Ammo weight shouldn't be a problem, all I need is pistol and rifle ammo.
I feel like my previous play through was just a practise run for the real "Fallout" experience this will offer. Base building and supply lines will actually have a point to them. Food will become more than a passing thought and, for me, it marks the point where it becomes more of an RPG.
I've yet to try a fallout hardcore mode. I really did want to for New Vegas but I didn't have the time at the time.
