We jumped on our laptop last night to try and track down some potential news, but our plans were thwarted by Blizzard's latest. Having just released, Overwatch utterly dominated our news feeds - we knew it was going to be big, but we're not sure anyone saw it being this popular.
However, now that the shooter's out in the wild, we can take a closer look at what it's offering. Although they're nothing new, microtransactions remain a touchy subject, especially when it comes to fully priced retail games. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Overwatch has its own premium options, allowing you to cough up real money in order to acquire loot boxes.
You can spend up to $40 to nab 50 of these virtual crates, but only randomised cosmetic items are up for grabs, which you can unlock through the title's regular rewards system anyway. And if you find something that you've already unlocked, you'll receive credits instead. Can't really argue, we suppose.
How do you feel about microtransactions of this nature? Are you bothered that they're in the game, or could you not care less? Show us your favourite poses in the comments section below.

Much like Uncharted 4's microtransactions they don't seem to have a bearing on gameplay.
I'm going to be having fun playing the game and chasing these items naturally so it makes no difference to me if someone wants to pay for a shortcut. At the end of the day, if I unlock an awesome skin, I'm usually only wearing it for my own pleasure anyway.
Micro transactions such as these are harmless in my opinion. having the ability to pay for loot boxes, which can be earned in game anyway, that only contain cosmetic items is fine. Now, if you could pay for game changing stuff that would be different, but I doubt Blizzard would consider that.
Ok?? This is no surprise Blizzard already said there would be the option to purchase the loot crates with money before the game was released.
omg the games ruined pay2win
@Grawlog word. 👍👍👍
@Grawlog The difference being that destiny costed over $100 for all content if you bought it at launch, otherwise you're forced out of content. overwatch is $40-60 and you get all future content with no balancing issues for unlockables. Overwatch and blizzard has it's head on straight.
If the game was more balanced would have considered getting it. As for microtransaactions I am fine with them its a good money stream for the company and a way for gamers to suport a game they enjoy.
Everyone above;
You have all been indoctrinated - microtransactions however they are implemented in a retail game are terrible.

Read what @themcnoisy said.
Great game enjoyed what I played so far only rank 4 though lol, HATE microtransaction's though it's the start of a slippery slope as far as i'm concerned. BO3 suffer's from it on the sly, you can get weapon's though in the "loot" package's but if you pay for them with real money the likeleyhood of getting said weapon's is greatly increased. I'm master prestige level 114 (or thereabout's) in BO3 and opened only rare package's and NEVER had a ranged weapon out of my pack's, however a friend who is only just prestige 1 spent £30 on the same package's and got every available ranged weapon he could get at the time in his loot package's he got with real money this doesn't affect Overwatch yet and hopefully never will but the MT's shouldn't be in a full price game...EVER @themcnoisy agreed 100%.
@Grawlog The thing I'm more interested in is how people will react to a lack of a SP campaign when games like Battlefront and SFV were savaged for it.
It's funny how if you don't mind microtransactions, you're automatically wrong. It's not like I'm attacking all games that DONT have them just because I don't mind them haha. I've never used microtransactions but they've never affected my enjoyment of a game either so..whatever.
I agree with @TripleGK and @adf86.
Anyways, at the moment one of the differences between Overwatch and other games like Destiny or Star Wars: Battlefront.
