We feel a little bit sorry for Mafia III. While competing titles are popping up in publisher or platform holder press conferences, Lincoln Clay and his cronies have been left to fend for themselves – earning only a spot during IGN's live coverage. Still, this 22 minute gameplay demo which debuted last night is surprisingly strong – it showcases the release's open world management aspects, combat, and traversal.
While there's nothing especially original on display from a core gameplay perspective, the presentation is really impressive. New Bordeaux is practically bursting with atmosphere, and the soundtrack – both licensed and original – is nothing short of spectacular. The game's due out later this year, and has certainly caught our attention with this showcase.

Looks better each time I see it and one of my most wanted this year. Can't wait!
Only watched a few minutes but it looks pretty good, I did enjoy the last game, solid story.
nice my second most hype game after dishonored 2.can't wait
This looked great at the start of the trailer until we saw game footage. In this day and age, I'm always sceptical when we see an absolutely huge divide in quality between the cut scenes and the gameplay. That's going to bust the immersion. GTAV and Uncharted 4 have an almost seemless transition that keeps you fixed inside the world.
This is just another example of the devs lack of polish. No surprise because the game on PS3 was really clunky with zero polish. On PS3 the frame rate stuttered like crazy when in doors. Lots of screen tear and the grass was just a paint green floor.
If that soundtrack doesn't win an award then there's no justice in this world.
Looks awesome.
Day one.
Looking good, so many gameplay choices!
I love Mafia I and II so this is day one to me.
