Free, eh? That makes me suspicious. Otherwise, it sounds like the poker game I always wanted. I might check it out just as a refresher on how to play (since I haven't played poker since...Far Cry 3).
About time! I looked on the store hoping for a poker game in the same vein as Hustle Kings, but the only one I could fine was £15.99! Top news, this.
I thought we already had a free one , think I played it once . Was similar in style to PlayStation Home. Red Dead Redemption poker was my favourite in recent years.
@MinerWilly Yeah, there's Four Kings Poker or something already.
I've played the game and to be honest its not that great. The introduction/tutorial is quite promising. And when first looking into it with the different factions sounds like it could be a fun ride. But, and this is a big but. The actual poker play is really really not good. For anyone who enjoys playing poker. Especially for anyone who knows how to play poker. The AI Is abysmal it basically takes away the element of skill and replaces everything with luck. Your opponent may have nothing an raise they may have something and just call. Now not a problem initially I admit but it's a constant fault with the game that you just cannot do anything to alter/force the play in your favour unless you're lucky. Which to me defeats the whole object of playing poker. Don't get me wrong the animation and artwork are very good. But that's about it. And the whole level up system where in you "earn" unlockables as it were. Aren't actually yours as it makes you believe. But they are now able to be purchased or rented for well rather high sums. Now I don't profess to have played all the game modes as it states in the game coming soon for quite a lot of them and I'm assuming, hoping that there will be some updates. But what I have played which I'll be honest isn't a great deal didn't inspire me. And the reason I didn't continue playing well basically frustration. Frustration at what the game could have been and what it isn't. It looked so good to me two of my favourite things to do. Play poker and play video games and it's "free" obviously microtransactions. But it falls at the first hurdle which is the actual playing the game of poker and to me well that's a pretty big fall. So unless it gets a huge and improved AI update I would say avoid this unless you prefer games of luck to games of skill
Hope it's not hampered with microtransactions like the majority of poker apps on smartphones
This actually sounds really cool. I'm interested to hear more about it.
